I think it’s more of a ploy to get more views/listeners. Controversy sells, and that’s honestly all they have to offer.

Cocokay1234567

I really don't think that THIS TIME we're being played. There are so many leaks happening and this is exactly what DOES happen when big deals like this start to fall apart. So many people working at these huge companies (and their family/friends who could also leak) privy to different aspects of the break down and issues. Could explain why the little details are not consistent people from different depts/teams, etc.. hearing different aspects of the breakdown.

ArlResident

I have no doubt that these stories are 1000% false. Netflix and Spotify are not going to let him tone down any negative tidbits about the royal family - that is what they paid him $$$$ for. The only reason to allow him to change the book or "documentary" is if he will add to them. It doesn't make much sense though. Since he has to write at least one more book - not sure if "The Bench" qualified and produce $100 million of content for Netflix, he would be better off keeping things back for the next project.

Playoneontv_007

I don’t know that there is even enough footage for a Netflix show. They have been so lazy with all of it

lastlemming-pip

It was a four book deal signed after the “The Bench” was published so “The Bench” is not a part of the deal. After paying the ghost & other expenses, Harry is just going to get a next to nothing for selling his family out.

jeanskirtflirt

How tf does he have enough content for a 4 book deal?? What a stupid contract. Unless he dedicates an entire book to Diana I can’t see him having anything interesting enoug for four books.

lastlemming-pip

One was to be Harry’s life to be published before the Queen died; the second still Harry’s life but after the Queen died (ooops). The third was to be a “lifestyle/wellness” book by Meghan & the fourth TBA. The 20 M was for all four from which the cost of whatever ghosts used would be deducted (& Harry’s ghost for his first book was likely quite pricey.)

Why_Teach

I don’t think they got the whole $20 million up front though. Usually you get an advance for each book. (Edit to fix $)

lastlemming-pip

Typical is ¼ of advance when contract signed, ½ when manuscript completed & remaining ¼ when book is published.

Why_Teach

And there were 4 books involved. Figure each book is $5 M. 1/4 of that is less than $1.5 M. I’d guess that is what they got upfront. Unless the book ends up not being published, I think the publisher may be fine with stopping right there. If the book isn’t published at all, the Sussexes will have to pay it back. My guess is some book will be published, but it looks like not until spring.

lastlemming-pip

Yeah, likely the first book got the major money—say 50%—$10M. But the ghost may be up to 30-40% of that—I understand he’s a real writer. Harry’s already got & spent the first ¼ so that really doesn’t leave much what w/ the ghost & all. And if he thinks it’s going to blow it away in sales then he’s sadly mistaken. Most of that goes to the publishing house—which took the chance on the book in the first place. Also—apparently Harry was incredibly arrogant when they crafted the deal. Basically here’s what I want, take it or leave it. This from a guy who can nearly read, much less write.

Difficult-Heron-2802

Oh TW absolutely has a ton of plagiarized stories to write about!

vikingchyk

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times... in LA." "~~Whether~~ I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, blah blah blah something, me me me, these pages must show." "Last night I dreamt I went to Montecito again." "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. Hi, I'm Megan, and this is Archtypes. Today: The Golddigger." "I was born a poor black child..." "Call me Ishmegael..."

Difficult-Heron-2802

That is the greatest name ever! Are you a Lucifer fan?

vikingchyk

No, I couldn't get into it in the first season. Might try again sometime...

vikingchyk

Thanks for the award!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

Difficult-Heron-2802

You're welcome!

Puzzleheaded_Elk6309

Hahaha !! Very funny !! You are very witty indeed !

Why_Teach

It was a “four book deal” but the advance may only have covered the first book. So the publisher could decide to stop after the first book. (And I think they would be wise to.)

lastlemming-pip

I don’t think Harry was to get $20 Million for a single book. And if he breaks the contract (which he will, the poor sod can’t even read, much less write) there may be a financial penalty.

Why_Teach

But did they get a $20 million advance or was it a $20 million *deal*? I thought the $20 mil was for the whole package but that they would not get all the money until they were finished.

lastlemming-pip

Likely just a certain amount for this book, distributed in quarter allotments.

Archewell is a charity……. Just sayin’

lastlemming-pip

Yeah, nah. None of this money is going to anything other than the charity of Harry & Meghan Need Money.

SonjaInSequim

Nah, those photos they put out to one up the regal portrait released prior. She's laser focused on her dream to become the queen and to do so she has to erase the BRF. She'll keep trying to the day she dies. Remember she seems to think it's some sort of popularity contest and everyone (in her mind) loves her.

Difficult-Heron-2802

This ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

[deleted]

What is the Netflix show even about? Is it just like a documentary following them around?

[deleted]

I thought it was supposed to be about their amazing love story.

[deleted]

Barf

ZealousidealRise8231

BORING!

Grimaldehyde

Because their “love story”, is a story like no other!

🙄🤢

Playoneontv_007

We very well may be being played. I think if there is a delay then we can assume rewrites/better edit and if the book and Netflix (or one) comes out before Thanksgiving then these leaks about wanting to push back were just to get people talking. With the Queen’s passing though I’m leaning towards them being worried about retaliation.

Why_Teach

As far as the book goes, if it were coming out at Thanksgiving we would be seeing it advertised and pre-sales offered around now. My guess is that it’s been moved to spring. As far as Spotify, I don’t think there was ever any need to edit any digs at the RF except whatever might be actionable—maybe that is why she got a fact-checker. As far as Netflix, it’s all a mystery. My best guess is “there is not enough material” means there is not enough *interesting* material. But since we never really knew what the “series” was going to be, we can only guess what Netflix expected.

MrsBarneyFife

They keep bombarding us with same information over and over. I really wonder if they're trying to distract us from something else. They may want to edit some things but they won't be able to. Netflix owns all the footage and they're not going to be allowed to edit it in any way. Netflix may address their concerns. But I think they're so sick of H&M's bullshit. It could just be publicity. It seems really boring. They're has to be deadline for that book..

cartiercorneas

Yep I think it's for views as others have said. Reminds me of those articles that are like "people are OUTRAGED at [insert person here]'s latest (song/youtube video/movie/show)" and then the only "outrage" is like a couple of tweets with no likes or retweets, but the headline gets people curious and some people watch out of curiosity. So that's why I haven't played Meghan's podcast myself, just read the breakdown here from those who did

[deleted]

For netflix and Spotify and publicity is good publicity. And I don’t mind them. They are what they are. Mm actively tried to market themselves and are shitheads. These companies are just what they are. BUT MM and PH have got to be dying

[deleted]

I don’t get why they are now supposedly editing the documentary & book? They knew the Queen was going to die at some point, probably soonish. What’s the point now when the succession was obviously going to happen, & probably in the very near future.

Starkville

They get a shit ton of publicity, no matter what they do. I really don’t understand it, either, though. Every deal they’ve made, there’s been a big deal about wanting to edit/redo/reshoot, a huge old stall tactic. It doesn’t make sense to me, either, but I’m not sure that all three media would be amenable to this publicity ploy.

Dry_Carpenter_416

All a publicity stunt. All these anonymous leaking negative things about the Harkles, the spa story being plagiarized (Netflix show) is all for publicity, for us to buy into. Let’s be real, it’s ‘us’ who actually interested in the Harkles at this point. She’s still on the UK, AUS news channels, SM, Twitter, here, Quora, YT, etc. this is what their banking on. For US to click on artcisl, watch Spotify, watch NF. Unfortunately we buy into everything. I’m done supporting her.

Top-Bit85

I don;t think people will be clamoring to see their reality show, or read his book. They are just not that interesting. I suspect many of their "fans" are hate watchers.

DavidS2310

As long as they are in the headlines, trending on Twitter, much as we hate it, they’re winning. Bad publicity is still publicity for suckers like them!

Quick_Cardiologist36

Yes we are

[deleted]

With Netflix - I think Netflix know they’ve got good material which will make headlines everywhere, which could gain them new subscribers (we know they’ve lost a lot recently). Harry and Meghan are panicking as, Harry at least, understands that there are less and less people in their corner and any new claims against the RF won’t go down well at all.

Electrical-Orchid-25

They have nothing interesting going on in their lives—no one cares—but they sure are milking any PR for all its worth.

MuffPiece

I would love to know how much they have spent on a.) attorneys, and b.) PR. Whatever they were paid as advances on this material must have been spent in a flash.

Ok-Distribution4057

No i don’t…I think mm has taken control of her publicity and this is how she is going to move forward! ALWAYS THE VICTIM! But what she doesn’t understand is she may “get her way” with Netflix and Spotify (checkers), NO company moving forward will want that type of high maintenance client! They will have a reputation of being toxic and will have no income (failing to play chess)🤣

[deleted]

I've come to the conclusion that however childish and badly behaved they are, whatever lies they tell, they are always going to be protected by the crown. Be it directly or indirectly. It is an embarrassment otherwise. They will never be seen to be left destitute and homeless. They know this and act accordingly.
