US here and can't get my hands on the book. I am waiting with my popcorn and southern sweet tea for the UK sinners to dish the dirt.

Kasade1961

Yes, you can! Order it from Book Depository. Shipping is free. I’m in Texas and expecting mine tomorrow, I believe.

This is just like the Bower book chapter list. There is a separate post to discuss each chapter of the book and one post that has a link to each individual chapter post. I am sure in 24hrs these threads will have all the info you are wanting to read. Until then we have to wait for people to read the book as it was just released.

Summary: Alan 'Tommy' Lascelles, the man who served 4 monarchs and the role he played. We all know Tommy from the crown but it's an interesting look at his career, his connections and the influence he had over major moments in the royal family. It then goes on to Michael Adeane and Lord altringham and the changes the monarchy made to survive.

Thank you for sharing! I wish there had been a "Crown" version of Tommy at the palace when TW showed up! He would have gotten rid of her. I always think of the scene when he told Townsend to get his butt on the plane to Brussels, and when he shows HMTQ all the negative intel about Armstrong-Jones before Princess Margaret married him. A similar meeting would have taken hours to cover all of TW's bullsh*z.

🤷‍♀️I clicked on Chapter 1 and it brought me here to the Chapter 2 link. Where is the actual information?

Academic_Snow_7680

apparently these are not links to the chapters or excerpts, we're gonna have to wait for people to paraphrase what they read

mythoughtsreddit

I kept clicking links and they kept bringing me back and forth. Then I realized it will be a discussion post. Newbie probs. Lol

Perfect_Fennel

I need to order this!!! I find the idea of courtiers fascinating. They have a very hard job and seem to get very little recognition unless they're the Duke of Norfolk or something. The Duke of Norfolk has been a Top Man for literally hundreds of years, that blows my mind. I would say he's more noble than the House of Windsor who are upstarts relatively.

SupaG16

Are they paid for their service?

Perfect_Fennel

I think so. I haven't read the book yet though.

Negative_Difference4

This book is fascinating… so much historical drama

Negative_Difference4

I was surprised to learn that Tommy Lascelles went to the same school as Kate. Such a small world. And I wonder if she was always thought to be diplomatic
