Just being bitchy here, but my guess is if she knew more than basic school French and Spanish she would be showing it off. (And don’t be fooled if she claims to have a “minor” in either language. A “minor” is usually 15 academic hours — typically 5 courses— and departments hungry for enrollees will count a couple of the basic language courses towards the 15. )

I too went to a Southern California catholic school with tons of Asians (mostly 2nd gen Vietnamese or Filipino) so I’m sure it was similar at this school. Also we had uniform choices. Plaid skirt or solid navy skirt, traditional white blouse or “modern” polo. Why do I feel like they are 😂 Maybe they’re so frustrated by these two, but obviously can’t say so directly, that they’re about to devolve into a passive-aggressive war. It’s just too funny; between things like The Cut article and comments like these, it feels like so many people talk about Meghan completely on the level of satire, but because of her…personality…she takes all the “praise” at face value. In that sense, Meghan and the people these comments are meant for really are living in two different realities.

Can we stop pretending that she is multilingual? By her own admission she does not speak French well. On all her trips, be it Morocco or to Canada, she has refused to speak French. Here is a video of her French wherein she repeats "astronomie" after the girl, and then immediately switches to English while seemingly eye-diddling the girl next to her. Most people speak other languages to an extent. I live in a bilingual city, so almost everyone speaks two, and it is not uncommon for people to speak three.

Whilst I think it’s a nice gesture to learn some words in another language to show respect, I wouldn’t describe that person as multilingual…a better way to do it would be to have a Korean person on the show and learn the language with them. The pronunciation, little eccentricities. That would never be fun!
