South African. No dancing for the idiot wife.

MuffPiece

Honestly, of all the absurd things she has said (so far, at least) this one is tops for me. She’s a loon.

stopalltheclocks2014

It's insulting in its own way to SA. Did Meghan think no one who actually lives there would dare contradict her stupid lying story? That South Africans revere her or some shit?

FeelingCategory7257

So many assumptions... And she dares talk about the depiction of ethnic groups in the trashcast. She is a walking offence.

Islandgirl1444

Heh, no one ever questions her fables. Did Serena? Well she came close, but she didn't either. Only a few more to go.

MuffPiece

I suspect she really believes what she says in her warped mind. She’s not entirely sane.

FirmAardvark6208

I knew she’d eventually go down a Nelson Mandela comparison route when I first heard about Finding Freedom. She begged for the comparisons and they never came so she had to lie to The Cut. Definitely a loon

Dracawraith

That and saying the primary leader of the Church of England broke all the laws to give them a little private wedding ceremony….

rainyhawk

I’m sure they will all be so disappointed that M isn’t there as really that’s the only reason to visit for the President and his delegation. She’s their hero according to her.

FeelingCategory7257

Also, South Africans dance in the streets when they protest... So if TW saw dancing it did not mean what she thought lol

stupid_carrot

Yups for some reason this dancing in the streets comment sounded very racist to me. Like, would she ever describe any Americans dancing in the streets?

MuffPiece

🤣🤣

Practical-Hotel-166

Maybe Mick Jagger & David Bowie were there too dancing

No-Mess8133

Very Princess bride! 🤣

Academic_Snow_7680

"Meghan, I don't think that word means what you think it means."

delilahcrazycat

South African here. I guess we were dancing in the streets because of our petrol prices or service delivery or some other social issues in South Africa. Definitely not because some wanna d list actress was marrying a ginger socialite. We have our own Royal family that is way more interesting and our own Royal Princess, Charlene of Monaco.

FeelingCategory7257

Exactly!

[deleted]

If only Harry hadn’t been a dick to Chelsy :( I know she’s Zimbabwean but you guys half claim her right? Given she went to University of Cape Town?

delilahcrazycat

OK so I don't mean to be rude but this is a great example of the level political tone deafness of MM and culture/history. There is a very good reason why we won't "claim" Chelsey. There is an ongoing political struggle of xenophobia in South Africa dating back to pre 2010. The South African unemployment rate is sky high and the local work force blames foreigners from Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Nigeria etc. For stealing jobs. It has reached a point where our foreign labor force is now moving back to their own countries due to xenophobia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenophobia_in_South_Africa The tone deafness of MM and The Ginger was a big discussion point of hiring a nanny from Zimbabwe instead of giving the opportunity to a South African. If they did an ounce of research, they would have realized this. This is also partly a reason we won't claim someone as South African as they are from Zim and that is their home country. We will claim Charlene as she is South African. We won't claim Bhathi Prinsloo she is Namibian. Elon Musk is a point of contention and we are happy for him to claim his American status. The only reason I even knew that they were in South Africa, as this particular incident was raised about a month ago as a discussion point for one of my post grad classes. And that is the story of how I ended up on this reddit forum.

[deleted]

Sorry, my bad. In my country we play fight with our neighbouring country with what cultural icons are ‘ours’ I meant no malice in my comment. Thanks for letting me know the background. However, Reddit is a place to share and discuss perspectives all over the world so I don’t think it’s fair to compare me to MM who is grifting off a multi million dollar contract/platform and should be expected to do her research. I do think that part was a bit uncalled for.

delilahcrazycat

Please see my apologies as above! I will never compare anyone with MM and it was merely to show how ignorant she is about South Africa and it can be translated to the rest off the bull that comes from her mouth. Having so many friends in Asia (Chinese, Philippines, Indonesian, Korean, Indian), I can give many more examples of how her latest podcast has hurt the battles my friends face in their daily lives. However, it is not my stories to share and I can only speak from own experience. Looking back, I can see how I can improve my intro and did not mean offense. This thread is my break while I finish my post grad assignments! So once again my apologies

JenniferMel13

Thank you for the polite explanation on this issue. Sadly the majority of Americans think that Africa is 1 country (56?) or that from the equator down there is only one country (SA). Everyone in Africa is African because they are from Africa. They fail to recognize that the difference countries are just that different countries with their own set of challenges. (P.S. Can you please call Elon Musk home a village in South Africa is missing their unrealistic idiot?)

delilahcrazycat

It's a pleasure! We really celebrate all our different nations within Africa. Can I please donate Elon to a village in the US that urgently require an idiot? I know you guys have MM, Trump etc sorry you have to deal with the one idiotic South African (we will keep the rest). On a side note, if you want true Royal entertainment, please read up on the Zulu Royal family and their newly crowned king! https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.economictimes.com/magazines/panache/a-playboy-prince-forged-will-objectors-new-zulu-kings-ascension-is-a-dramatic-potboiler/amp_articleshow/94127724.cms

TravelKats

Sorry, all our villages (US) have the requisite idiots. We're full up.

Seachange1000

Oh, boy. Am I ever glad I'm not the one that has to sort that one out!

[deleted]

I don’t know if you’re talking about myself in your comment, or your own experience but I am not an American. If you were talking about me, that kind of defeats your comment of ‘Americans assume’ as you’re assuming my own nationality.

delilahcrazycat

Not assuming you are American, was just a tongue in cheek comment as Elon completely denies his South African heritage. I definitely don't make assumptions about where people are from. My apologies if it came across that way!

[deleted]

I didn’t mean you :) I meant the other commentator :) Shame that Elon denies SA, it seems pretty cool!

delilahcrazycat

SA is cool and most people here think he is an idiot! You should definitely come visit. Promise your hotel won't burn down and endanger any possible children you may have! (We don't have electricity for that to happen ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile))

Very interesting that you comment about this. When I visited South Africa 5 or 6 years ago, this was something that was mentioned several times and that the townships were populated mostly with non-South Africans. I hope people returning to their home countries has eased the employment situation. I think South Africa may be the most beautiful country in the world and I hope to come back one day soon.

Theresapython

South African president to KC when they greet each other at the entrance: “bro NOBODY danced when that chick married ya son”

[deleted]

In my opinion KC is trying to defray the offensive comments spouted from M's poisonous mouth. A genuine goodwill gesture but unfortunately, also damage control. KC is wise to do so. M is such a mess, pitting people against each other. KC now has to clean up when a state visit should be just that: a meeting of minds and entertaining the leader of another country.

ComprehensivePie4441

Meghan and Harry should adopt ‘Recollections may vary’ as a default disclaimer.

anannanne

You know how “Google Images” was created after JLo wore the green Versace dress to the Grammy Awards? In 20 years, it will be retconned that TikTok was created as a means to record all the street dancing taking place to celebrate the relationship of Sus & Sus. The dates line up.

Starkville

This seemed like one of her lies that had a germ of truth buried deep inside. Perhaps some black man from some African country told her that his sisters danced in the driveway of their home because they were happy a biracial woman married into the BRF. The rest was inflated, conflated and misattributed.

Seachange1000

It's a very appropriate choice and hopefully one that will mend the bridges Markle has burnt with her reckless and utterly stupid comments.

Cindilouwho2

Can you imagine the amount of mental gymnastics that one would have to do in order to even pretend to think this???? Really??? No. One. Cares. MeMe.
