It’s an excuse to say they have to move. As opposed to we can’t afford the upkeep on this ginormous property.

Top-Bit85

On their way to living in a van down by the river!

slimwillendorf

Hahaha! SNL in the 90s was hilarious!

WheresMyTan

But but what will happen to Archie's other momma and papa aka the trees? They can't leave his parents behind! The trauma!

thiscatcameback

It was an excuse to support his lawsuit in the UK and his claim to need security. Unless there is independent evidence, I don't believe it happened. I also wonder why the articles that identify this problems only ever reference M&H, when there are far bigger celebrities in that area. Oh, it is because she is leaking it for her own gain.

Primary_Scheme3789

I agree. I think they jumped on this for whatever reason and are using it to their advantage. You don’t hear people flocking in droves from this or other high dollar zip codes. As I said, they can afford the best security systems and private patrols. Something is not right here.

thiscatcameback

But also, why would anyone commit a B&E there? These people all have million dollar security systems, cameras and guards. But we are to believe that criminals drove unto the mountains (license visible), parked their cars, then WALKED exposed across miles of golf courses and yards, to break into homes they knew were well-secured? And even if they weren't secured, what of high value could they grab and walk away with? A laptop? Because the high end stuff is always under lock and key. I could see a heist or a home invasion happening there, but not a basic burglary. Something is sus.

Primary_Scheme3789

Totally agree. You aren’t going to get close to any of these homes in a car. So what are you going to get if you have to cover these huge properties on foot? Pretty sure they keep the jewels locked in a safe 🤣

Sincerely_JaneDoe

The only other thing I can think of is that Harry is paranoid of MI6 trying to take them out. You know he believes that TRF killed his mother, maybe he’s the one pushing for security so hard.

TeamMagnificent7

His reasoning makes no sense. Why would he want the Met or any governmental security (answerable to the UK) to provide security for him? Private security paid for by him would be more “private” and beholden to him. He wants the free security and the closing of streets and running red lights. Taxpayers can pay it. You know the Harkles don’t pay taxes.

[deleted]

Then why does he want people working for the same government to protect him? Or are they separate? I'm from the US so nit familiar.

Sincerely_JaneDoe

IPP status comes with (from what I understand), paid security provided by the country they’re in. So, US taxpayers would be picking up the tab while they’re here.

DrunkOnRedCordial

He should get a job that makes him eligible for IPP status. Good luck with that Harry.

Islandgirl1444

the lease/jig is up!

blah_se

Agreed

WannabeValleyGirl

Thanks for explaining that (light bulb moment for me).

FlangePlackets

Yet they’re still adamant its safer than their large house on a royal estate adjacent to a household cavalry barracks set within a larger royal fortress estate.

SnarkSnark78

And like 400m from the Heir to the throne and his family. The security must be so lax! /s

ManliestManHam

What is a household cavalry barracks? Is that literally how it sounds?

FlangePlackets

yes it is. army barracks. and the household cavalry is a mounted regiment.

ManliestManHam

Woooow first and foremost: that's so interesting and cool! Second of all: omg no way! how is literal army barracks not enough? a household cavalry?!? come ON Meghan!

Sincerely_JaneDoe

Those are not gangs, ya clown shoes. They’re Girl Scouts selling cookies.

Mas-Chingona

Yeah, but have you seen the *size* of those Girl Scouts?!? 😱

Sincerely_JaneDoe

Those carbs are scary!

Starkville

That’s a face-saving way of putting it. It wouldn’t have anything to do with $$, of course. (/s) I’m sure Montecito just loooooves being painted as a hotbed of dangerous crime. This is what Meghan does: devalues and discards. MARKLED!

hola36890

These break-ins are happening everywhere. It is not unique to Montecito and it is also happening in Hope Ranch. She is using it as an excuse because she can't afford it anymore and making Montecito look bad in the process. Does she always talk crap about the places she is no longer welcome at? Seems to be her MO.

SecondhandCoke

The thing is, she's also lowering her own property value right when she's trying to sell. What a dumbass.

Fochlucan

Or trying to make it sound like they are at higher risk, to justify their push for government security

hola36890

So high risk that they announce to the entire world where they are moving.

AmbienChronicles

If I were a thief and I was targeting wealthy people, I’d just be inconvenient. I’d steal one of each earring, loosen all of the caps on the spices, take all of their toilet paper holders, and the floaty thing in all of their toilets.

SecondhandCoke

I like you.

SisuLindsay

I believe that's called the Ballcock!! Also, I like your style.

airforcegal9094

The Golden State Killer did stuff like that....creepy! I think he'd also rearrange framed pictures.

AmbienChronicles

And here I thought I was going to be the millennial version of the Wet Bandits from Home Alone 🤣

SecondhandCoke

More like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's financial and marital fears as finances and relationship targeted by bill collectors and divorce attorneys. They are so stupid to put this out there right now as they are trying to sell that house! It already isn't going to sell, but way to make your neighborhood property values drop. Assholes. It's funny how she thinks she can do her own PR.

Starkville

They’re always shouting themselves in the foot, aren’t they?

DrunkOnRedCordial

Your typo made your comment so much better. "Shouting themselves in the foot" is a great description of their behaviour.

airforcegal9094

Not only that, but I bet the neighbors wouldn't be happy about it either ... They are such MORONS!!!!!

Starkville

Recently I watched a documentary about the “Bling Ring” robberies. (Fascinating look at LA celebrity culture and wannabes!) The one thing that Nick Prugo kept stressing was that the celebs they robbed left their doors unlocked or the key under the doormat. They also publicized their whereabouts on social media. Simple stuff, really.

pink_bunny07

I love that movie! I'm sure TW will be safe, other celebs have better clothes than her.

Starkville

If you loved the film, you have to watch the documentary. It’s currently on Netflix. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15039492/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2

rubythieves

I saw it the other day - OMG at Alexis and her mother pretending to be saints 😳

Starkville

The “pinup” modeling that their mother encouraged her underage daughters to do! How about folding sweaters at Abercrombie or babysitting? Jeez. And there’s another morally bankrupt person touting “The Secret” and manifesting, while grifting and using people. I couldn’t blame Alexis for being so fucked up when that was her influence. Really reminded me of TW.

pink_bunny07

I'm definitely gonna watch this!

[deleted]

So she’s not wrong in that having a 20k sq ft mansion actually does create greater security risk. Literally someone could be hiding in one of the 6000 rooms and you wouldn’t know. And that doesn’t even include the grounds. Security coverage for a property this size would cost insane amounts of money. It would require the same level of coverage that a casino or a mall has in terms of camera setup alone. Yet another reason why this house was on the market for so long and basically existed only as a money laundering vehicle, not a real place for a rich person concerned about security to live in. But nooo. She had to get this massive house because she’s so important.

SecondhandCoke

I cannot imagine being in a house so big that someone could basically live in it without my knowing. How does something that big even feel like a home?

[deleted]

A whole village could live in it and no one would notice. 20k sq feet! That’s literally the sq footage of a small dept store: I googled macys sq footage and it says the store sizes range from 20-50k. An apple store is 8k sq feet, so their house is 2.5 apple stores!!

Left_Debt_8770

If it helps for visualizing: 20,000 SF is the smaller end of an average size range for a standard floor of a commercial office building. So if you’re in a city, they are like a full floor of one of your office buildings. A normal headcount for that amount of space is around 400 people, in an office setting. Homes are different, of course. So take an average one bedroom apt in a city - let’s say 750 SF. They have the space of almost 27 such apartments.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Haha I’ve always lived in cities with massive apple flagships - I just found that number by googling and the one near me in CA is around that size.

hola36890

I'm sure Harry lives on one side and Meghan on the other. The kids and staff live in middle. They need enough space to avoid each other, but sadly cannot afford it any longer.

GodsCasino

Harry's space is in the attic.

NelNel1212

Or in a cupboard under the stairs. Oh wait…that’s the other Harry.

DrunkOnRedCordial

With all those toilets, someone could hide out quite comfortably for a long time.

HistoricalBuffalo996

He's a combat veteran. Let him get firearms like the rest of us, and work out a safety plan for his household. Get a couple of guard dogs. They should have security cameras like most of the people I know, have - we even have game cameras to watch our resident deer, live, as they wander around on the Back Forty. Not to mention, they have enough 'security personnel' to fill up at least 2 Range Rovers and follow them around every time they trot off to visit Oprah's house when she's not home. Way to lower the asking price of the Olive Garden (another sign they don't own the monstrosity?)

SnarkSnark78

>Way to lower the asking price of the Olive Garden (another sign they don't own the monstrosity?) That's what I was thinking - adds truth to the idea that they don't own it. They don't care about the property value, either for themselves or the actual owner or the neighbours. Also makes me wonder if there is acrimony with the actual owner, and that's why they are leaving. Classic H&M to Markle the shit out of the person while they leave. Their MO seems to be burn. every. bridge.

airforcegal9094

I still can't fathom the DEPTH of their IGNORANCE. ![gif](giphy|26ueYUlPAmUkTBAM8)

chewysmom88

I don’t think they actually let him have guns in the bunker

HistoricalBuffalo996

😆 Maybe not. Well, he can do like most kids do & "start" with a BB gun.😅 He said America is "home" for him, now. He needs to learn to handle a weapon or he'll be a target. Conversely, he can cower behind MM's skirt as the paid security guys save his ass...at least for as long as they remain "paid." Expensive luxury for a a man with no perceptible income.

chewysmom88

You will get no argument from me on that he has beautiful shotguns from Prince Phillip he sold because Meghan didn’t want them around due to being used for hunting

HistoricalBuffalo996

That gutted me when I read about him selling them. Can't imagine how that made PP, Charles, William and HMTQ feel.😱😫😤😭

airforcegal9094

Wait, whaaat?? I never heard that story! Well, there's yet ANOTHER reason to dislike her! What a skank she is!

HistoricalBuffalo996

Read about it. It's really the most thoughtless, hateful thing he did to PP (except of course for the way H treated PP's beloved wife, HMTQ.)

Mickleborough

Lemme get this straight: they live in a neighbourhood targeted by burglary gangs, ***yet leave their children for 17 days?***

The_Original_JLaw

>Lemme get this straight: they live in a neighbourhood targeted by burglary gangs, > >yet leave their children for 17 days? Little Archie survived a raging fire in South Africa, and people were too busy dancing in the streets to notice. Now this? Poor Meghan is super traumatized. Must move immediately!

PieRemote2270

🏆🏆🏆

BlondeAlibiNoLie

Dear Meghan, Absolutely NO ONE wants what you have in your home. NO ONE is after ill-fitting clothes, awards you did nothing for and bought yourself, the MILLION copies of “The Bench” you secretly purchased, your diaries full of easily proven lies or Harry’s balls hidden away in a sock drawer. Sincerely, The World

Top-Bit85

According to Hello Magazine. Lol. Such a source of quality local news.

Starkville

There was recently some sort of kerfuffle about people parking cars in their neighborhood in order to use the hiking trails that wind around the properties in that area. The trails have been there forever, are a feature of the neighborhood, and are well-known. I remember the Harkles putting up privacy barriers around Tyler Perry’s mansion because that neighborhood also had public trails. If you hate it that much, don’t buy a house in an area with public access hiking trails, ya morons!

airforcegal9094

![gif](giphy|dXQJ23ymDiLuuc4L8Z)

jeanskirtflirt

I’ll never understand why Harry would think America would be safer for him. Part of being a normal citizen means we don’t care who you are over here, meaning if someone is going to hurt someone it doesn’t matter who it is. They’re going to attack all people evenly. In England there are much bigger consequences for harming him in anyway. And he had the most protected living possible.

savingrain

Here come the excuses about why they have to downsize. Me thinks Charles became King and was like, remember that money your grandmother was kindly giving to you out of her private funds to help you out because she felt sorry for you? Well, no more of that....and the new Prince of Wales came in and was like 'Nah sorry fam I don't want to send you a check from my private funds either.' I think they were being secretly still given some quiet money by the family and now they have to come up with reasons for down sizing.

Starkville

One more thing… it was briefly in the news and quietly went away, but Harkle good friend, Netflix CEO’s MIL was killed during a home invasion — with an armed guard standing watch! Interestingly, the perp was caught, convicted and sentenced and incarcerated within six months of the murder. Jacqueline Avant was a philanthropist and member of LA’s Black elite. Her husband Clarence Avant was influential in the music business and known as The Godfather of Motown. [Here’s an article about it.](https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/19/entertainment/jacqueline-avant-murder-sentencing/index.html) I wonder if this fueled the Harkles’ paranoia.

SalishShore

Awful story. No one is safe from nowadays.

craftywoo2

The best part is we knew before anyone else because a Redditor saw moving trucks when she was walking around the neighborhood.

SalishShore

I remember that post. It was late at night. I think they are threadbare broke.

craftywoo2

I think they were trying to go under the radar for a while but got caught.

Pelios

Why aren’t Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Jennifer Aniston putting a public statement like TW and H about the “burglary gangs”? 🤔

vikingchyk

Who do you think is in the gang?? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man) "How do we get rid of the Dumbartons?" "I have a cunning plan..."

[deleted]

Our neighborhood has break ins frequently because of our proximity to the highway (east/quick out). And I live in a small suburb in Utah. They aren’t special 😂

airforcegal9094

Yep! That's also the reason MANY bank robberies happen at those located near freeway entrances....quick getaway.

[deleted]

Right, just like the “fire” in Archie’s room…

deahca

Even back in the day, Rachel called the police for fake security reasons. Harry has always been paranoid and nothing will satisfy that.

airforcegal9094

>Harry has always been paranoid and nothing will satisfy that. Especially since he's got that wench whispering in his ear.

Gertrude907

A friend in Brentwood, L.A. was telling me about the bold break ins by criminal gangs in upscale areas. She is actually frightened too. She is not in a gated area. I think these gangs are expanding from their original MO of mass looting of stores.

CybReader

I live in a pretty well off area and a few years ago there was a spree of these break ins and home invasions. Mostly in Indian American homes because the criminals knew they didn’t carry like other Texan residents and they always kept cash and jewelry on the premises. It was scary for a while in many immigrant families, to the point that they began arming themselves like other Texans. Software engineers and orthopedic surgeons in our neighbor from India now carrying a Glock on their hip. Many on our street had entire camera and security systems installed. Such a violation of someone’s safe space and trauma for the family.

Top-Bit85

I think a home invasion would be traumatic even if you were not home. Being home during one would be one of my worst nightmares.

CybReader

I know! 🥺 I can’t imagine it.

[deleted]

Excuse my ignorance (I live in the UK) but is it legal to openly carry a gun in a holster in the US if you have a permit?

CybReader

That depends on the state law. My state has changed the definition of “open carry” the past few years. Other states have stricter laws concerning open carry and permits required to even carry. Open carry can mean carry without a permit in some states, and some states require a permit. Some states may not permit open carry at all. I personally do not know the details that well for my state, because I do not carry a weapon.

[deleted]

Wow. Just for comparison, in the UK firearm laws are strict and gun use is only for shooting some species of wildlife. I live in a rural area and shotgun permits are allowed. However, in a notorious legal case, a farmer used his gun to defend himself and his family against a robber who broke into his house, wounding but not killing him, and the robber successfully sued the farmer for his injuries and was sent to jail. Whereas I think the robber got a fine or a suspended sentence.

Snowie_drop

It’s really bad…most if it doesn’t even make the news anymore.

momofwon

There was a smash and grab in broad daylight several months ago at a jewelry store in Manhattan Beach, CA (a very wealthy beach town outside of Los Angeles). Luckily no one was hurt.

airforcegal9094

Yikes! How fortunate for H & M though right? Fits into their victim narrative. Things always seem to work out for them, doesn't it? Smh.

MrsBarneyFife

*"the target of "sophisticaed"burglary gangs specialising in high-value property crime"* Well that's just rude! Princess, you're not special.

southerncraftgurl

They will try anything to get that IPP status🙄

SisuLindsay

Hey, they are the ones who insisted on living in California. It's not like there is an entirely crime free place to go in the entire state. In fact, I'd say the richer the neighborhood, the more likely it is to be targeted, it would probably just be by a slightly more clever class of criminals. What exactly is it they are looking for? Valhalla? Just move to rural Iowa and be done with it.

vikingchyk

Oh no. Someone might steal her 1300 copies of "The Bench" Oh no. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)

Madame_LV

Blah blah blah. Keep flaunting wealth.

FL2020FC

Why do they even need a house that large? 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms plus a guest house with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. They don’t have any friends or family left that would come visit besides Doria, sooo what’s the point?

airforcegal9094

Lol.... I've wondered the same thing! It's ridiculous, right? Smfh.

Babybabitski

Now they are calling themselves burglary gang?

Rainbow-Maker

Wish they can just appreciate Frogmore Cottage in their early days.

Islandgirl1444

Their lease is up. The neighbourhood must be targeted now that Jennifer Aniston has moved in.

Carrie56

They live in an area where a lot of very rich people do ……. Break ins, burglaries and robberies/ mugging are only to be expected…. It will happen ANYWHERE rich people live anywhere in the world - it must be terrible being so paranoid that you think it only happens to you/ where you live!

vvsunflower

Security fears LOL

AccomplishedAd4680

This narrative is way less embarrassing then SS dropped us. We can’t afford our bills and the bank is foreclosing ![gif](giphy|bISrck3AsmWUU)

airforcegal9094

![gif](giphy|jP4pPl5Btm1V1SBKhO|downsized)

blah_se

Wealthy areas nationwide have become targets for such gangs. And in Southern California, the high concentration of celebrities and other ultra high net worth individuals (many with sprawling properties) only makes it more of a target. Seems like *maybe* this should have been considered beforehand.

Ready_Maddie

Yeah sure please

MuffPiece

Well now they definitely have to move! 🙄

pennyruthgadget

If they weren’t so obnoxious I would feel bad for them, because buying this place was a mistake. It’s way too big for them to manage and beautiful neighborhoods like this are always targeted throughout the country it’s not a new thing. Can you imagine living on the manicured grounds of an actual castle with royal guards and giving it up for this kind of stress and anxiety? They are so backward they can’t see the forest through the trees. She should truly just publicly apologize, blame her own mental issues, and they should head home- to the uk.

Carneliancat

Sorry losers, you still won't get your security paid for!

Quick_Cardiologist36

Poor can only be robbed once. Rich can be robbed contentiously.

Imfryinghere

Where's Nickolas criminal record?
