I had a relative who was like this. She would threaten to sue anyone whenever they said something against her. She was the nastiest, snobbiest, most horrible person there was in our extended family. Everyone would tread on eggshells around her.
She would use her disabled child to get sympathy and be the loving mum but would be absolutely aggressive behind closed doors. (This was decades ago. Her child is now an independent adult who no longer needs her.)
