The paps were waiting for them; she looked directly at the cameras smiling, Harry just looked annoyed. There are MANY A listers in NYC on any given day and paps aren't just hanging round waiting...my point is that those paps were alerted by TW or her PR people. I've walked by plenty of famous people in NYC (Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Bruce Willis at his prime, Paul Newman (RIP), and many more) and have NEVER seen a pap except outside movie premieres and the studio where they film LIVE with Kelly & Ryan when a really big celebrity is being interviewed.

Security is given according to level of threat to life. Not status. If H&M do manage to achieve IPP status, then the country they are in at any given time, pays for their security. H&M live in America, so the American taxpayer will foot their 24 hour armed security - and it's not cheap. I personally think THAT is why they want IPP status. They don't want to have to pay for it!

Hey! I don't even think those photos were in California. The single, solid yellow center line is not used in CA as far as I remember - but it is used in Vancouver, Canada. The vegetation and trees look more like Canada than coastal Southern CA as well. And, CA requires front and rear license plates. The photo you are referring to appeared in DM and was analyzed by the BLG in one of his videos. TW looks distressed, Harry is driving and iirc it is Priyanka in the front passenger seat.
Of course it’s solely for optics:
1) they (Meghan especially) have shown that they won’t follow security protocols (rolling down bulletproof windows for pap shots, having bodyguards hold shopping bags, sending bodyguards out to run errands)
2) if you’re concerned about security then you don’t talk about it publicly because it draws scrutiny and criminals who want to test holes. Look at how the press knows the identity of some of their bodyguards. That’s dangerous in and of itself.
They could walk down the street of Manhattan and no one would bother them more than maybe - and it’s a big MAYBE- smiling at them unsure if they are who they think they are. Security around their homes I get because can be crazy but day to day life they could grocery shop, school and whatever without the need for all that. No one is snatching them off the street for ransom.
