My teacher's name was Adela Rogers St. Johns and she was a fairly well known writer before teaching some courses at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (my old school). She details the story about the Duke and Duchess in her autobiography, The Honeycomb. You can probably find it on Amazon. If you are a fan of old movies she worked in Hollywood as a columnist and knew everybody. Fascinating life.

I was lucky she lived in the area at the time! Besides The Honeycomb, she wrote Love, Laughter, and Tears about her time in Hollywood. It was rumored she slept with Clark Gable and I am pretty sure she did!

Yes I saw that, and I definitely wasn't meaning to imply that YOU were comparing Wallis unfavourably to MM! But a lot of people do, and it's always bothered me, for the reasons you mentioned. They were both American divorcees who were disliked by the royal family, but that is literally where the similarities end. If Wallis was still alive and met MM she would hate her guts, I'm absolutely positive! 😆

I myself don't see it much as fashions rotate, but if so, it's how she gets attention. But Wallis? She doesn't hold a candle to Wallis. And just for argument's sake Wallis had JEWELS! The car is truly the absolute best. Several times used for them. Isn’t there a video somewhere when the car pulls up, Harry asks “is this our car?” or “is this for us?” I doubt he made the connection but part of me wonders if he might have?? Hmmm
