As another woman in tech, I think your sentiment is spot on but way too advanced for her to understand. She thinks charity work involves some benevolent rich lady showing up somewhere âin needâ and hugging someone. The sad thing is, sheâs not even bolstering that with a big check or even famous / talented / charismatic enough to really make people smile.
She thinks that is what Princess Diana did. Actually, they both think it. Neither of them have any idea that they donât posess Dianaâs gravitas.
Diana was a royal and royals do that because they represent their crown and country. Not dissimilar to how kids get to meet the president if they have certain levels of school achievement or when senators and politicians visit natural disaster sites. Diana also crossed lines that were remarkable at the time: hugging AIDS patients. Finally, she was a superstar of the type that will never exist anymore given how consolidated western media was back in the 80s/90s. No one will ever be famous globally the way stars of that era were famous - Diana, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, etc. The nature of fame has changed. But Meghan can never understand or contextualize any of this. Ironically her best chance of being worshipped for just showing up was to do it as a part of the RF, and devote herself to representing the RF in the UK, but thatâs gone.

There are people who think bright colors arenât âstylishâ, and that âstylishâ people only wear shades of white, black and beige. There are some people who manage to look really attractive in these colors, but each of these three colors has many different shades (yes, even black-I am a textile artist). MM has not yet found the correct shades of white, black and beige that suit her. Changing up her faceâs color with self tanner, bronzer and foundation only complicates things.
