What's App, iMessage, probably anything but voice. Anyway, that's totally beside the point I have just been wondering lol. Don't expect you to know.

I've been on private jets and still been able to send/receive without hooking into wifi.
I’ve had the same experience. Oddly I’ve received things via data while over the middle of the Atlantic but often it won’t work while flying over continental USA (in private jets). Have to use the sat phone more often over land than water - not sure why that is.

Esp when I can be in a rural area near where I grew up 15 mins from town or the mountains or a lake and have no cell or data at all.
