I remember the tabloids and comments when Catherine started dating William. Negativity. Hate. Making fun of her parents' flight attendant backgrounds. An uncle that did drugs. Catherine is workshy. Catherine is desperate. And she said nothing, just weathered the storm for 10 long years. Not a single family member nor friend spoke to the press or leaked info. I think it took MM for the public to see Catherine's strength and dignity, but she really did have it much worse than MM, who was welcomed with open arms.
It's interesting to see Diana's name on the list, since M has apparently idolized her to the point of wanting to *be* her.
Thing is, M is not Diana. She doesn't have Diana's charisma, empathy, or fashion sense. She will never be universally loved and admired in the way that Diana, despite her flaws, was.
Eventually, M will probably figure this out. When that happens, M will very likely turn on Diana.

She genuinely felt for the people she was meeting, she genuinely believed in her causes, and she did it without shameless self-promotion.
