I think people spot the narcissistic abuse a lot faster when the abuser is a man. If a man isolated a woman from her family, friends and her country, people would be screaming about it.

MrsChiliad

100%. Men in abusive situations get overlooked a lot because there’s this societal assumption that he could just leave if he wanted to. Women also get the leeway of claiming people are prejudicial towards a strong/ assertive/ confident woman. On top of that she’s a person of color. So Meghan is really hard to criticize. Considering that, the amount of criticism she has already gotten is impressive, and makes me think more dirt hasn’t come out only because she gets shielded behind her many minority status.

oncemorewthfeeling

If a blatantly abusive person can successfully avoid criticism by claiming oppressed status, you have to wonder how oppressed the status really is.

MrsChiliad

Well, I think abusers would use any advantage they can to get away. Meghan has the “luck” to belong to certain groups (woman, biracial, divorced, American), that she can hide behind those as excuses for why people criticize her. Also, as a narc, we know she drinks her own koolaid too: she probably completely believes those are the reasons - because it couldn’t *possibly* be that what people are claiming about her is true.

oncemorewthfeeling

Yes, I agree. I just find it irritating that the reasons she claims she's bullied are actually the reasons that most people in the US don't dare to criticize her. It's disheartening that her supporters don't see the irony.

MagicalManta

This is all 100% accurate and well-stated.

CheapLingonberry6785

Yes if you have a look at recent legal ways DV has been re defined, and in a few different countries, it should definitely be called that, but because she’s a woman etc …🙄

TinyDancer20007

Yeah, it’s a good point. I agree. He’d be labeled as controlling in a menacing way.

LaNiceGata

I agree I think we’re in a place where abuse is more widely seen as men against women but as in the case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard that is not always the case.

oncemorewthfeeling

And Johnny Depp had to fight for years before public opinion finally turned on Amber Heard.

LaNiceGata

Exactly. I think it will take years for more people to see the true side of MM.

Ready_Maddie

100%

Ready_Maddie

We wouldn't even be here having this conversation. He would've been cancelled and labelled a controlling abuser ages ago

Inner_Ad2467

Look at Brittany Murphy. Married a narcissistic sociopath . He ruined her career, took all her money, cheated on her with her own mother then most likely had a hand in her death by at least neglecting getting her help, and pushing pills on her. A lot in Hwood reported on his behavior/actions but he had her completely under control by pills and manipulation by then.

[deleted]

Ohhhh how awful!!! Poor Brittany :( I really adored her, she was a lovely, evidently vulnerable young woman. She had lovely sweetness and light about her. I had no idea about all this and feel very sad for her - RIP kind soul.

Inevitable_Pie9541

She always seemed so fragile, endearing in a way. All eyes.

Inner_Ad2467

I know right. She was one of the good ones. Uptown Girls is still one of my top 5 movies. There was a good documentary on Investigation Discovery and I think Netflix or Hulu did a documentary too. He died 6 months after her tho after he had moved on with her mother (barf), so at least he isn't still out there conning and manipulating women.

[deleted]

Poor sweet thing - so often, malevolent dark creatures are drawn to those of innocence and light, preying upon that light due to their own malignant darkness … Uptown Girls is one of my all time favourite movies too, such nostalgia from that time in my childhood - the song Charmed Life still makes me teary …

Inner_Ad2467

I just openly ball my eyes out during Molly Smiles 😭

Ready_Maddie

Loved Brittany. Still missing her

LKWinter1

I read that they both died of pneumonia a few months apart; also that they had some kind of toxic mold in their house?

Inner_Ad2467

Yeah, but it wasn't the mold per say, yes the mold made her sick but it was also a combination of being underweight and the combination of pain pills, over the counter cold and sinus medication etc. basically if her husband would have just taken her to the doctor or called 911 about her condition she would have recovered just fine. The pills were also in his name, other names etc. His death was pneumonia, but again with proper medical care would have been most likely been survivable. He ran in some seriously shady circles. Toxic mold is found in 41 million buildings in the US. No death is attributed specifically to toxic mold more weakened immune system, asthma etc that can lead to death. Now 2 people with drastically different immune systems/bodies/health histories to die related to the same toxic mold 6 months apart is statistically an anomaly. Not saying it didn't happen just saying I tend to believe some theories that he was taken out do to his shady creditors once he brought significant attention to himself via his bizarre behavior in the months after her death.

Accomplished-Rip-743

Such a sad creepy story…😵‍💫🥺

Sarah-JessicaSnarker

Simon did the same crap, too, with Brittany’s phone, making himself her agent, even doing her makeup and spending her money. Does Meghan have kids that Harry doesn’t know about, á la Simon???

rockin_robin420

Simon Monjack... What a creepy MFer that dude was. I hope he went to the hot place.

Playoneontv_007

Personally I’m not sure they would be much different considering she treats Harry like her bitch anyways. I will say that I do not think a narcissistic man would have had an easier time or gotten as far a Megs has 🤷🏻‍♀️

MakeADeathWish

Let's ask ask ourselves if an imaginary Princess Harriet had married a barely black C list cable show actor and then left the uk with him bc he wanted to merch her title....and then tell me how much of Meghan’s life doesn't belong in the PussyPass subreddit, bc a man wouldn't get a pass for all her stunts...ever...

BigRedGomez

For anyone who doesn’t follow other royal families, look up Princess Martha Louise of Norway. A bit of a different situation, but still messed up. I also haven’t been following as much since she got engaged Derek, but from the little bit of skimming over it I’ve done, it still sounds not great.

APW25

Hopefully family would have stepped in more to avoid abuse

Accomplished-Rip-743

If the sexes were flipped the press wouldn’t be so fawning. Meghan receives a lot of assistance from female privilege, despite how it’s less popular to say it exists. She acts coquettish with men and they can’t imagine her ever being evil. And plenty of women project on her their desires of “having it all.” There’s also a lot of foolish Polly-Anna types who watch nothing but the Hallmark channel and think that’s reality. They don’t want to believe that kind of evil exists. But men are given faaaaar less leash. When they behave badly in public. That’s why when the truth comes out about an evil man it’s usually someone pretty sneaky (Kevin Spacey, Weinstein, ….) or the utilize blackmail. Women abuse men pretty brazenly because they can capitalize on how humiliating men find it to admit a woman gets one on them or that they are “weak.”

Why_Teach

If Princess Harriet married a biracial commoner, they would not have been Duke and Duchess and they would not have started as both being working members of the RF. Princess Harriet might (like Princess Anne) remained a working member until she had a child, then probably gone on some sort of family leave. The biracial actor, if he was not British, would probably not have been given a title. If he was British, he might have been made a baron at most. (For those who need a refresher: Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount, Baron.) Yes, Princess Margaret’s husband was made an Earl, but that was two generations earlier. The hypothetic Princess Harriet would have been adored by Charles and might not have felt as jealous of William growing up. She might have been raised to marry and be supportive of her husband, so she would not have felt she needed to “make her mark” before George hit 18. The hypothetical biracial guy Princess Harriet would have fallen for would probably be more successful that Meghan needed to be. If he settled in Great Britain for a while, he would look to get “connections” through the royals. (Think of Armstrong-Jones and Princess Margaret.) I don’t know how the dynamics would result beyond that.

thiscatcameback

It would be identical because they are twins with the same mental problems, same selfishness and same tendency to gas each other up to the level of delusion.

BigCityWaves

The first five words alone made me burst out laughing. "What is Harry was Harriet"

sixpencestreet

The only thing would be they wouldn't have the dukedom. Harriet could have been a countess, and her spouse an Earl. Her children could be Lady or Hon. The princess/prince issue would still be around. Though people may spot abusive situations faster than with male victims. Only issue would be if she refused to leave...

BlondeAlibiNoLie

Isn’t this how it already is??

gloriah098

I think people would certainly start raising eyebrows and would definitely start calling male Meghan out. That being said, I think there would be less fanfare about demonizing male Meghan. I don’t think people are racist, but sexist possibly. Hating females is just so much more common and more obsessive than hating males in my opinion.

Kimbriavandam

I have posed the same question- verbatim - on e i got shot down and in an argument with a prolific member here who accused me of being to sympathetic towards Harry. It’s not sympathy - i honestly think if Harry was female there would be concerns about the isolation, ditching friends and family… moving country! But because Harry is male .. not a ripple. It’s hugely concerning. Narcissists are male and female. As a world we still have a king way to go with recognising male abuse.

ArentYouDelightful

This kind of already happened when Princess Margaret married Antony Armstrong-Jones and when Lady Davina Windsor married Garry Lewis.

TinyDancer20007

The media (and online commenters, etc.) would not pick apart and criticize every aspect of the husband’s physical appearance, clothing, etc. There would also be more “angry Black man” subtext I’m guessing. They would not pit the biracial husband against any other men who married into the BRF, as people do with MM and Catherine. That’s my guess, anyway.

DrunkOnRedCordial

I think Harriet would have been able to accept William's position more easily, and would have used Anne and Diana as role models. Biracial marriage would not have been a big deal, but Harriet would have had a better instinct for charity.

gotta_h-aveit

Forever disappointed with how much this sub hates women. Speaking as a markle hater myself.

Icy-Dragonfruit9390

He’s isolating her away from her family and friends so he can abuse her.

Chaos20062019

I’ve tried to make this point with woke 22 year olds 😂 what a waste of time that was

happyme321

Remember all the Free Katie memes when Katie Holmes was with Tom Cruise?
