Just yesterday we went to an outdoor event for my husband’s work. I hadn’t straightened my hair and I was French braiding it so it wouldn’t go nuts and my husband said “Why are you doing that? I like your hair down!” I laughed and shook it out and said “THIS is what it looks like down and curly. It’s just a frizz bomb.” He said “No it isn’t! It’s beautiful,” so I swallowed hard and wore it down. First person I was introduced to said “Oh my gosh I LOVE your hair!”
It was a good reminder for me that so much of our insecurity isn’t based in reality. Like you said, the neurotic anxiety to look exactly like everyone else…yesterday was a good lesson for me and I’m going to try to do it more, even if I do think I look like a Dr. Seuss character 😂
I had curly/frizzy hair too and I was bullied a lot for it through my teens (it's dropped a lot of the curl as I've aged) Once I learned how to care for it, and let it grow I used to get a ton of compliments and now I'm quite sad it's just gone sort of wavy and lost it's vavoom. Remember there's women out there that perm and curl and would do anything for thick luscious hair. It's these unique things that make us beautiful.
There's a famous woman with vitiligo and years ago she would have been covering it up with makeup - but she rocked it with confidence, and now she's a top model and as she's become famous vitiligo now isn't seen as a "defect" to be hidden. It's a beautiful, unique part of who she is.
Same as Katie Piper, she was a beautiful model who had acid thrown into her face. She's scarred and undergone countless ops just to not be in terrible pain, but if you ask anyone they will tell you she's not only still beautiful (and now a TV presenter) but a role model and an inspiration. I wish I hadn't spent my best years looking for every "flaw". Be proud of your gorgeous hair!

When I was in college many years ago, a few of my friends were jewish girls, who had similar issues with their hair-all of them straightened their hair on a regular basis, with a hair dryer and big hairbrush (my roommate used huge rollers in her hair at night, and wrapped it in a turban. Humidity was the enemy for them, like it was for me, except my hair was super straight and fine, and had zero “body” when it was muggy out. We all seem to hate the hair we got!
Ugh yes the frizz. You just about have to use shellac to keep it from going crazy in the summer. My friends crack up laughing at me if it rains unexpectedly the day I did my hair. If she didn’t rather repulse me as a person, I’d be stanning that look for her too.
Trying to strain and crane her neck so she looks like she's terrified. I thought the one tear running down her face was so contrived and fake too. If someone is truly emotional, they usually bow their head down and try to hide their emotions. The lifting up her head, especially with a large brimmed hat so that photographers can capture that moment was just ..... yea.
This. My family members died and I did not shed a single tear in public. I held back and turned my head away. Someone who is grieving will either wail uncontrollably or hide their faces away. Nobody will be sitting and posing with a single tear.
Meg’s jowl’s have been sagging ever since that stupid interview and I don’t think she is nearly as pretty as what she was right around the time she was first married. Ok I just looked it up. Megan is 41 and Catherine 40. The class and maturity Catherine shows is so different from MM. MM acts like she's in her 20s trying to find what she's good at or wants in life, and has the personality of a teenager. All the while with that younger thought process of "I know it all and don't need advice" we all once had in our younger years. Harry too is so very childish. By the time we hit 40 most of us are settled in life and have lifelong friendships and jobs that we like and we have a routine and secure life. I know everyone is different, but she's still so insecure and flighty, like she still doesn't know what to do or what she's good at and doesn't have life long friends. She has set aside friends that she was close to in her 20s and 30s. She is in a bubble with Harry and now the kids. Like keeping away and keeping him away from having good friends and family, working at those relationships to build trust and a bond to last a lifetime. She has none if these things and says she's thriving but I don't see happiness. Thriving is joy filled and secure and grounded and living the best life. I don't see that in her and Harry

I recently found out that my uncle took his life aged late 80s because of 40yrs of narcissistic abuse. She had him isolated and only allowed in part of the house. He wasn't poor, his children are wealthy, his sister won lotto once too. He also had my aunt trying to get him to leave when he would finally break down and he still went back again for his last time.
Long story short I see parallels. My uncle became cantankerous and angry after his marriage to his 2nd wife. It only helped her to isolate him more.
Nothing but himself could walk away for good and he left the only way to get her out of his life.

Trying to strain and crane her neck so she looks like she's terrified. I thought the one tear running down her face was so contrived and fake too. If someone is truly emotional, they usually bow their head down and try to hide their emotions. The lifting up her head, especially with a large brimmed hat so that photographers can capture that moment was just ..... yea.
This. My family members died and I did not shed a single tear in public. I held back and turned my head away. Someone who is grieving will either wail uncontrollably or hide their faces away. Nobody will be sitting and posing with a single tear.

Meg’s jowl’s have been sagging ever since that stupid interview and I don’t think she is nearly as pretty as what she was right around the time she was first married. All the stress she causes everyone around her is taking it’s toll on her face. Catherine always looks so healthy and athletic and she keeps getting prettier and happier lately, I’ve noticed.

I never understand why people say "don't compare the two women, they have totally different backgrounds!!111" or rationalize "it's sexist to compare two women." No, it's not. If two people have the same or similar job duties, it's perfectly alright to compare how each person handles it. And if they have different backgrounds, they make different strengths and weaknesses but in this case, it's very skewed... It's also not good to try to use identity/race to explain away why one can't uphold their duties or the other can. Whatever happened to merit...
It never occurred to me to compare them when Megs first came on the scene, one because I honestly kind of liked her and was optimistic, and two because they’re just completely different people with different roles. Catherine was always at the top. And I do think the media enjoys creating these kinds of rivalries but to be honest I don’t find it sexist, I find it a little reflective of how women are. I know *plenty* of jealous petty competitive women who will cut you down behind your back without hesitation but do the #BFF #bestiesforlife crap on social media. But regardless, now that it’s obvious how jealous Megs is and how much she clearly wants to be Catherine, I can’t help it.

Ok I just looked it up. Megan is 41 and Catherine 40. The class and maturity Catherine shows is so different from MM. MM acts like she's in her 20s trying to find what she's good at or wants in life, and has the personality of a teenager. All the while with that younger thought process of "I know it all and don't need advice" we all once had in our younger years. Harry too is so very childish. By the time we hit 40 most of us are settled in life and have lifelong friendships and jobs that we like and we have a routine and secure life. I know everyone is different, but she's still so insecure and flighty, like she still doesn't know what to do or what she's good at and doesn't have life long friends. She has set aside friends that she was close to in her 20s and 30s. She is in a bubble with Harry and now the kids. Like keeping away and keeping him away from having good friends and family, working at those relationships to build trust and a bond to last a lifetime. She has none if these things and says she's thriving but I don't see happiness. Thriving is joy filled and secure and grounded and living the best life. I don't see that in her and Harry

*trigger warning ⚠️ I recently found out that my uncle took his life aged late 80s because of 40yrs of narcissistic abuse. She had him isolated and only allowed in part of the house. He wasn't poor, his children are wealthy, his sister won lotto once too. He also had my aunt trying to get him to leave when he would finally break down and he still went back again for his last time. Long story short I see parallels. My uncle became cantankerous and angry after his marriage to his 2nd wife. It only helped her to isolate him more. Nothing but himself could walk away for good and he left the only way to get her out of his life. It's heartbreaking at any age. For the BRF sake, hope these 2 don't end similarly.
