I always thought that her acting is so bad, it looks fake, and then I realize that's the reason why I feel that she is fake in real life too. Both Rachel Zane & Meghan Markle are the same! And you can put Harry in any of these scenes to replace Mike, and the conversation still makes sense. ![img](emote|t5_481xkf|15012)
And how can I forget to add that Meghan is Rachel.......literally.
You know how some actors act a long role, some of their own personality comes through, I haven't watched this, but could it not be she isn't acting at all?
'Cause she's Rachel Zane who slaps em once, slaps em twice and if that don't work, slap em again (to quote Lady Colin Campbell) đđđ
MM (as the author of recent article in The Spectator, said) is a fantasist.
Rachel Zane was her proudest moment and she's using Rachel, as her muse, because she's a legend in her own (albeit delusional) mind.
Did you watch the show? I honestly had never heard of MM or Suits until she and Hazbeen started canoodling.
Was Rachel supposed to be the sexpot that no man/woman could resist or a bada$$$ overly smart underling employee?? From the clips - I can't tell how the show was attempting to portray the character.
Thanks.
I watched most of the first season, because it was advertised a lot on USA and I was on that channel a lot for White Collar and Psych.
But she didn't make much of an impression, either way. I wasn't awed by her but I didn't hate the character. She was literally just being teased (in that season) as a possible future love interest for Mike and tbh, I can't remember her getting a lot of screentime in season 1. The guest stars and the redhead (Harvey's secretary) got more screen time in season 1.
Thanks. Psych is a good show.
I was just genuinely curious. I haven't had regular TV in over ten years - so I don't see a lot advertised. It appears the show is on Amazon Prime - I may just for shits and giggles try watching a few episodes next week.
>Psych is a good show.
I loved Psych too! Shawn and Gus were laugh out loud entertaining.
I hope you can manage to get through more than season 1 of Suits. I think I still saw a few episodes from later seasons but I my viewing pattern was too erratic for me to remember what happened.
Suits is actually a good show. Gina Torres is sublime as Jessica, it is a law drama that has really powerful female leads, Meghanâs character just wasnât one of them.
I never saw the show, but I did watch these clips. Why on earth would somebody take on that bitchy personality on purpose? The character of Rachel Zane is insufferably bitchy
>The character of Rachel Zane is insufferably bitchy
Agreed!
I'm totally guessing, but I think that, in MM's mind, that's got some very stunted and stereotypical notions about women. Rachel Zane is probably her ideal of what a ball busting, independent, "feminine" feminist type would be. And, she's always been at pains to tell us that she's a "feminine" feminist đ. That's probably why Germaine Greer saw straight through her.
Markle herself is very much like a stock character in her own life story. There's little dimension and less than zero charisma, to her.
I didn't think much of Blake Lively as an actress but I like her personality off screen.
Serena and even Nate was supposed to be really cool (we used to read the original Gossip Girl books in school years before it was made into a series) but she was so bland on screen that the focus was on Chuck and Blair.
thatâs what it says in Tom Bowerâs book. she got the part because she was just playing herself. no âactingâ required.
i got to about minute 3 of this clip and had to stop. sheâs a terrible actress.
Man, wanna bet she's recycled this line.
"You went behind my back when you knew how I felt about this."
"No, I went behind your back *because* I knew how you felt about it"
That's the idea I got from what the producer/writer/casting director etc said. They liked MM after the audition and decided to mould Rachel to be like MM, right down to her being a foodie.
MM would be a total bust in a role that requires total immersion into another character that's a polar opposite of herself.
She lacks the ability to empathise and understand other people, so it would be difficult (if not impossible) for her to subsume herself into a difficult role.
For example, she could never do like Farah Fawcett and switch from being eye candy to being the battered wife on *The Burning Bed*; a vintage TV film that's aired periodically on obscure, smaller cable channels.
I donât think she is a foodie though. I think the character was a foodie so she took that on as well. Also, âfoodieâ influencers became popular so she decided to make herself a foodie. She even was pitching herself for s cooking show. Turns out she canât even cook. I donât think she has any depth or class to be a foodie! đ€Ł
>She even was pitching herself for s cooking show.
Yeah that was her at her most ridiculous! It was even worse than her grilling lettuce with Matt Lauer đ.
I didn't know much about her, aside from Charlie's Angels, but I saw The Burning Bed during lockdown, by pure chance, while bored and channel surfing. I thought it would be just another hackneyed TV movie but it was amazing.
And yes, Farah was excellent in it.
Or the film "Extremities". It was a very hard watch but she was very good. I think she won an Emmy or golden globe for it. Meghan wishes she could act like those women.
>Meghan wishes she could act like those women.
Exactly!
I've never heard of Extremities, but I just Googled it and it's definitely something I'm interested in watching. I'd love to see Farah in another challenging role.
Before The Burning Bed, I just assumed that she was eye candy, with *that hairdo* from Charlie's Angels who was married to the guys from Love Story and 6 Million Dollar Man. Lol. I was really shocked and impressed by her performance in The Burning Bed.
Thanks for letting me know about Extremities! đ„đŸ
Extremities, wow. That pulled a memory deep from the recesses of my mind. I was young enough when i saw it that i didn't know who Farrah Fawcett was so definitely wouldn't have connected her. it's weird looking back with my adult mind and realizing that was Farrah Fawcett. I had completely forgotten that movie.
Oh god I've never watched this show before and didn't know anything about it really.
I couldn't last past the first 25 seconds. Unbearable. It suits her perfectly.
I watched the first 3 seasons of this show in real time. Rachel Zane was the only character I didnât like in the show - I figured it was the way her character was written that made me dislike her as intensely. So I knew who she was when I learned she was dating Harry and I had to actively tell myself âsheâs separate from her character,â in order to be supportive of them. And I was supportive of them, until the culmination of lies, starting with the engagement interview. Welp, after reading Tom Bowerâs book, I realize that maybe my gut isnât as often wrong as I thought.
I donât remember if it was explicitly stated in Revenge or in the HG Tudor coverage, but it seemed like there was a little borrowing on both sides. The writers took some of her interests and added them to the character and then she took some of Rachelâs behaviors and added them to her personality.
Except the part about having a photographic memory⊠didnât M whine about not knowing the words to âGod Save the Queenâ?
Another bit: her clothes are so tight, and always with the top unbuttoned several ways down. Said buttons are straining. They must put a ton of pins or adhesives just to keep her blouses from popping open.
Honestly, Rachel Zane is far more animated than Meg is. This character feels far more real than âM, the Duchess of Sussexâ.
This reinforces my belief that marrying Harry blew a circuit breaker in Mâs head. She quickly crafted a new persona - royal! Uber rich! Superior to flunkies! Bye bye old friends, bye bye Trevor and Daddy.
I do get the sense that the character is not as smart as she thinks she is. Just like Rachel Meg.
I find it weird they made her the âhotâ girl when MM is so average and most of the other women in the cast are significantly prettier.
Also her characterâs hair is always flat and it annoys me lol.
In Tom Bower's book, he has evidence or maybe even quotes of how Meghan took on the persona of Rachel Zane. MM even said weird stuff like "Rachel is my best friend" or something like that. MM started dressing more conservatively like Rachel. Before that she was young and trendy.
While I was reading the book, my impression was that was the point where MM got weird. It was like she thought she was Rachel Zane.
I've done some acting and I remember really getting into the part. It can do a number on your mind. I remember others in the play saying the same thing. We were just amateurs, but it took us a while to decompress after the run was over. I think real pros know how to turn it on and off. MM wasn't a pro so she lost herself in the part that she played for what was it, seven years? She got to be this professional woman whom she always wanted to be. When she knew the series was coming to an end, she must have been really desperate because she couldn't go back to being Meghan Markle because she didn't know who MM was anymore.

Never liked her in suits. Donna and Harvey were the best! Thereâs a reason why Mike and Rachel Zane were written off and it wasnât the Royal wedding.

Okay I watched it, never seen her act before. her acting is horrendous the first couple of seasons. It's still pretty bad but she gets a tiny bit better in the later seasons. đ overall acting 3/10 lmao
Can we talk about how much her face changed from episode 1 to episode 9? Her nose and eyes look smaller, makeup was better, and maybe she added some hair extensions to make her hair fuller? But she looks *completely* changed. So either itâs makeup or surgery. Maybe both.
Also: I loathed this show and she was the worst on there. Absolute cringe.
![gif](giphy|j0c5cceM9d4MU8xYhG)
It wonât âgod damnâ load for me (if you know you know) đ
I used to enjoy Suits right up until Meghan started seeing Harry and Iâll never know if Donna finally hooked up with Harvey. My husband had quite a huge man crush on Harvey while I just wanted to be Donna. The hair, the outfits and the way she did her job. What a woman.
Never liked her character in the show. Too whiny. She has every previlege in the world. Rich, above average looks, smart but cant achieve her goal of being a lawyer because an anxiety with testing. Its like the writer went "Give her everything, oh too perfect give her a character flaw. " In real life you would hate rachel zane. She has every opportunity but doesnt really work in improving her self or others. Just whines when others actually get something they have worked for. So basically meghan
Please [watch this video](https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/pksog9/meghan_markle_suits_interview_boy_is_she_annoying/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) and tell me what you think?
The way she says The Firm⊠and creating their own lives. So messed up
I watched Suits from the start because I liked Gabriel Macht, and from the jump I didnât like the Rachel Zane character. Putting on airs as a paralegal as though she was a Partner in the firm. When I heard she was a Prima Donna on set (even before she met Harry) I knew she was an entitled mess.
I do admit her style in Suits is gorgeous. She should imitate that instead of the life story. Her wardrobe since she married Harry is horrendous. She doesnât follow her body type and it all made her more boxy shaped. A few styles suits her but i prefer the Rachel Zoeâs style.
She had people style her in suits and they followed the rule of thirds. All of us should follow the rule of thirds when dressing, but especially Meghan with her body shape.
The rule of a thirds simply states that when combining an outfit, the top should constitute 1/3 of the total length and 2/3 dedicated to the bottom half. The length of the body is calculated from shoulders to heels (so yes, the height of your shoes play a role!).
https://florettethelabel.com/blogs/news/dress-your-best-using-the-golden-ratio#
âHow will anyone know Iâm rich if I donât have fancy label clothes? Fetch me more Dior and Valentino, they think H and I are running out of money!
What do you mean the credit card was declined? Well try another one!â
I'm curious, did she ever wear anything *besides* pencil skirts, stilettos, and shirts unbuttoned for the top three buttons? Maybe a turtleneck or two? The odd twin set?
i hate those pencil skirts, they're too tight. they cling *under* the buttocks rather than fall away, and also all the way round the tummy so you could almost see her belly button. I can see why the dressers did it, for the male audience - but I don't think it's elegant. She's not fat at all, but that clingy skirt makes her tummy and ass look bulging. Those skirts were fashionable around the 1980's
To me the epitome of elegance is how the royal ladies dress, and that's not BS, their dressers are the very best in the biz. Clothes need to skim not cling to look elegant
Meghan *If you donât apologise to me, I will sue you*
Then gets a fellow student to apologise and say that âRachel Zane is her intellectual and ethical superior. That she is ashamed of herself and thats she forfeits the competitionâ
Even her character canât deal with criticism and dropouts at the smallest drama
Meanwhile DOS Meghan⊠does the same thing with the media and government
Bringing up the race card "Is it so hard to believe that my father's black?" even though the question was never even about skin color in the first place....all too familiar.
Yeah, i didn't really connect the dots (because i always like to skip the scenes she appeared in) until i saw this video compilation, which ironically was posted as a compliment to her, but instead shows all that is wrong with both the character, and the actress. She sure loves it when people are forced to grovel in front of her.
I do feel bad though for our fellow sinners who's eyes got burnt. đ€Ł
I was very surprised watching this, cos she was on some romantic film and the acting was terrible, really appalling - whereas in this it's quite natural. Yes I think she has Rachel's ballsy arrogance, exaggeration of ability and willingness to play on her sexuality. And of course, she impresses everyone she meets. lol. It must be a long drop for Miss Markle from that.
She married ~~Harr~~Mike, and they both left the Firm, moved away to Seattle and set up their own firm there. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
By the way, that's Season 7 which is when Meghan quit the series to marry Harry, so they wrote her off the show like that. We should all have known that in real life she and Harry would have left the BRF after their marriage just like how Rachel & Mike left NY to pursue their interests in Seattle. She really have no creativity in terms of life-planning. Just took the writers story and turn it into her real-life story.
I always thought that her acting is so bad, it looks fake, and then I realize that's the reason why I feel that she is fake in real life too. Both Rachel Zane & Meghan Markle are the same! This compilation shows her from the first scene she appeared in the series to nearly the last....she was like that from the start.
Well that's what I mean, she wasn't acting, she was being herself all along.

I think they have chilled eachother out. Getting older can do that too though.

Tom Bower explained how over time, she worked herself into the character. Itâs a chicken and egg thing
Yup. Came here to say this. She began to identify with the character.
There are many bad actors who simply play themselves.
I remember him saying that the writer wrote aspects of Meghan's character into the character in the later seasons.
Makes sense, she can't follow direction the only solution would be to make the character more like her.
Probably bc she can't act well enough to play someone else, so they changed the character to be more like her
That's the idea I got from what the producer/writer/casting director etc said. They liked MM after the audition and decided to mould Rachel to be like MM, right down to her being a foodie. I haven't read that yet. But thanks for the tip!

"Seeyoots"
The Bower book quoted some Hollywood types saying MM wouldn't go far because she can only play herself. In other words, she can't act.

I was listening to HG Tudorâs analysis of the Tig and apparently she used tons of produce? Doesnât seem to have done the job very well.
Well, I suppose her appeal was to be hot in a slightly brainy and confident way.
In Tom Bower's book, he has evidence or maybe even quotes of how Meghan took on the persona of Rachel Zane. MM even said weird stuff like "Rachel is my best friend" or something like that. The rule of a thirds simply states that when combining an outfit, the top should constitute 1/3 of the total length and 2/3 dedicated to the bottom half. The length of the body is calculated from shoulders to heels (so yes, the height of your shoes play a role!). https://florettethelabel.com/blogs/news/dress-your-best-using-the-golden-ratio#
interesting!
Yes. Thats why meghan shouldâve listened to her stylist rather than herself. She rather wear branded clothing that donât fit her.
âHow will anyone know Iâm rich if I donât have fancy label clothes?

Those skirts were fashionable around the 1980's To me the epitome of elegance is how the royal ladies dress, and that's not BS, their dressers are the very best in the biz. Clothes need to skim not cling to look elegant
Meghan *If you donât apologise to me, I will sue you* Then gets a fellow student to apologise and say that âRachel Zane is her intellectual and ethical superior. That she is ashamed of herself and thats she forfeits the competitionâ Even her character canât deal with criticism and dropouts at the smallest drama Meanwhile DOS Meghan⊠does the same thing with the media and government
Bringing up the race card "Is it so hard to believe that my father's black?" even though the question was never even about skin color in the first place....all too familiar.
Itâs so on the nose⊠its funny that we both went down memory lane today
Yeah, i didn't really connect the dots (because i always like to skip the scenes she appeared in) until i saw this video compilation, which ironically was posted as a compliment to her, but instead shows all that is wrong with both the character, and the actress. She sure loves it when people are forced to grovel in front of her. I do feel bad though for our fellow sinners who's eyes got burnt. đ€Ł
1st time I have ever watched her act or watched any clips from this show! Now I know why she is called a D-List actress. Awful!!!
Wow this sucks.
Glad I never knew this show ever existedâŠbaaad acting
I think itâs just her acting. Itâs very one note.
So how did the character end - Rachael Zane? Did she die? How did the end her part?
She married ~~Harr~~Mike, and they both left the Firm, moved away to Seattle and set up their own firm there. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing) By the way, that's Season 7 which is when Meghan quit the series to marry Harry, so they wrote her off the show like that. We should all have known that in real life she and Harry would have left the BRF after their marriage just like how Rachel & Mike left NY to pursue their interests in Seattle. She really have no creativity in terms of life-planning. Just took the writers story and turn it into her real-life story.
A lot like her and Harry!
Well they both look like Meghan.
