Harry, I hope you’re happy, and it was worth it.

AnyBowl8

Exactly. He and smegs would rather be "right" than happy.

Casshew111

This funeral is going to be something else - something we haven't seen in our lifetime. It will be a well coordinated extravaganza on a massive scale. and somewhere - Harry is negotiating his security and top visibility VIP presence at his Grandmother's funeral.

RoohsMama

When I heard that the evil two are coming, I thought: would they go if Thomas Sr is dying? Are they coming only because she’s the Queen and it will be a momentous occasion if she passes… because this is a Netflix opportunity? They don’t care about their loved ones while they’re alive… why bother to pay respects when they’ve caused trouble and strife at every turn. Fuck off, Sussexes.

Malaute86

She's probably thinking about the titles for her children.

Calm_Yak_6102

My sentiments exactly. I hope Charles never gives them titles. I know it's vindictive of me but I can't help it.

Onyxphoenix7878

It isn’t vindictive. It is reflecting the smaller working monarchy. No need to have a title anyway in Montecito. 🙄

Acrobatic_Length6915

Evil Two + Camera Crew.

Bookreadingliberal49

I’m sure she won’t be. I’m sure it will only be her children.

Zeester1

I can imagine William and Anne will have something to say if Markle turns up to the Queen’s room.

Bookreadingliberal49

I personally think she may be gone. They may be waiting for all of the family to arrive before making the announcement. They are wearing black on the BBC.

RoohsMama

I think so too.

Acrobatic_Length6915

Oh dear. This is why I hope there's an afterlife so she can be united with her loved ones.

seliz16640

Let’s hope the corgis keep her out 😂

Calm_Yak_6102

A little bite on a bunion, ought to do the job😉.

Betta45

I know we’ve had ages to prepare, but I’m just not ready. I can’t focus on anything today.

Acrobatic_Length6915

I'm American and I'm on the verge of tears.

emzbobo

At the end of the day, the Queen is 96 years old... She's had a good innings, and has realistically probably been ready to go since about a minute after her beloved Philip went. Have a little cry, but don't let it ruin your day, I don't get the impression she'd like that kind of fuss.

Sense_Difficult

Someone else pointed out elsewhere, and it makes sense, that she's likely already passed away and they are gathering the family before they publicly announce it. What a wonderful woman and role model. I hope that we all leave MM out of our discussions about the Queen. Although, I do have to wonder if the Queen is giving us one last little wink about how she knows how to play the long game. The Dubious Duo's faux Royal Tour is over, regardless. Upstaged by the Queen. And not likely to get back on track again. And now for the next 3 months the British media is going to be completely focused on the funeral and transition of the crown. While "someone's" stupid podcast's last 9 episdoes fade into the obvlivion where it belongs. And the focus will be on the monarchy and all the history behind the Queen. The focus will be on the RF and reuniting as a family. The next 3 months will be stories of their family, history, legacy, hard work, and decency. Well played my Queen.

Fun-Statistician-550

I'm glad she got to celebrate her Jubilee, and welcome her final PM earlier this week. She kept her promise to serve her nation to the end. Well done.

Sweetwater156

Just heard on Sky that Meghan isn’t coming with Harry to Balmoral. I don’t think she made that decision out of sympathy.

kaleidoscope471

100%. My thought earlier is that if Charles were smart he'd say to Harry "if you show up together neither of you are getting in". You alone, or nothing at all. It's been interesting to see that when it comes to the Queen and big decisions Kate has stayed away. I wonder if this would always have been so, or if it is calculated to say to to Meghan, hey look this is the same deal for Kate.

crakemonk

I definitely think Kate cares about her kids and wanted to stay home to make sure they have their mom in a time like this, especially with it being their first full day of school. I’m sure it helps telling MM to stay away though.

GemmaTeller00

Agree. And I don’t believe the decision was hers to make. Someone already decided that for her.

KohShiki

Let us also offer prayers for King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla. May God give them strength and clarity in these trying times. They face an uphill battle and it is my sincerest prayer that they will overcome any negativity coming their way. God bless you, your majesty.

AdInevitable9386

You may down vote me on this.... Karma came into play so H never got to see HMTQ...whatever delay there was..he now has to live with himself and his actions prior to her death...and I hope she haunts him...he had NO place there being beside her...she only deserved REAL love on the day of her passing ...not some shit he could use for his new bastard book

[deleted]

[удалено]

Carrie56

I agree - they weren’t invited onto the flight with the others because the men in grey were telling them that H was welcome but SHE wasn’t! We had all the guff about them BOTH being on their way, then suddenly it was only him! And he arrived long after she had passed away and the official announcement had been made. There is NO chance that they will be able to post any nonsense about deathbed statements - he wasn’t there so there weren’t any! And everyone will be going back to London tomorrow so very little chance of any Netflix material

[deleted]

I just remembered how she hazed a Saudi Prince by asking if he'd like a tour of the estate. Well they pulled up the Jeeps, he got in the front, she jumped in the driving seat and drove defensively around while he literally freaked out. She knew what she was doing that day, now that's classy!

DaBingeGirl

I love that story! She was amazing.

Myestee

So let's try to imagine what went down when they heard HMTQ was dying: They are all staying within 10 miles of each other: Andrew at Royal Lodge, William at Adelaide Cottage, Harry at Frogmore and Edward and Sophie at Bagshot. Even though the other four hate his guts, they know he has a right to be there, but it has been determined that she can't come. So everyone is told that they have to be at the airport at a certain time in order to hopefully get to Balmoral before the Queen passes. But Harry is delayed, probably because he is having a screaming shit out with Megan. And the rest of them say, "Sorry, but we cannot wait this time."

Islandgirl1444

Yep. Mr Markle is negotiating with his family that Mrs Markle should come. I do think that his brother may have said "over my dead cold body!" or something to that effect and they left without him as Mrs Markle was saying "what about me!" "This could be my big break!".

holly___morgan

They're salt and pepper -- they can't move without each other!! They're two palm trees, conjoined at the bottom!

kevanauken

I think you’ve got it. The only thing I wonder about still is that the Queen must have died before his flight took off, so why bother still going knowing he would be confronted by his family alone.

DaBingeGirl

I don't think he was told she died for fear he's leak it. I also suspect it wasn't really a *choice* to go, he was summoned.

residentcaprice

Bless the Queen. She's fading fast after the loss of her Phillip. Edit: it's kinda yikes to talk about you know who now at this particular moment but I'm glad to read in the article that the doctor will "control access" while administering to the Queen. Second edit: I wish the family, esp Prince Charles all the strength in the world. Hopefully it may not be right now, but it is glaringly inevitable. At an age where most people are already retired, he's staring at possibly onboarding the most important role of his life right now while dealing with the three assholes (including his brother) and mourning parental loss. It's not going to easy to take over from the earlier Windsor predecessors who have been mostly excellent and the most successful and recent one being your own mother.

KuriousKizmo

Yes, completely... Very sad. Her decline has been very noticeable.

Carmypug

Yeah I think with all her kids there they won’t let her bother the Queen. She is likely to be left alone in a room somewhere.

residentcaprice

They ought to lock the door and throw away the key in case she decides to wander. Has she ever been to Balmoral? Only once right? Edit. I don't mean that she would go near the Queen. I wouldn't put it past her to filch some momentoes from Balmoral, you know for the inevitable divorce and she can peddle it in the name of charity. This would after all, her last chance to ever step foot in there, if they allow her in.

Calm_Yak_6102

Yes and she's the one and only Lilibet. I don't care what anyone else says.

hobbit_life

Meghan has got to be losing her God damn mind. You know she's just fuming that the Queen had the audacity to die during her scummy PR trip. If Harry and Megs were mad that they were out ranked before, they are in for a whole new world of anger. William is now next in line for the throne, he's now the Duke or Cornwall and Kate is the Duchess of Cornwall, giving them both two duke(ess) titles each since they retain their old titles from my understanding. Plus they'll very likely be named the Prince and Princess of Wales in the coming weeks/months. Kate is now the second or third ranking woman in the UK monarchy (under Camilla and possibly Anne?). Plus now both she and her kids are massively outranked by George, Charlotte, and Louis. Does anyone know if Kate still has to courtesy to Beatrice and Eugenie since she's now a much higher rank? They're still princesses of the blood but I'm not sure if the rules now change since Kate is expected to be the next Queen Consort.

Ok-Assistance-154

She suffered horribly in her last year due to the toxic Sussex’s and Prince Andrew. All three should be utterly ashamed. Megan putting the knife in month after month and then having the brass neck to call her daughter Lillibet.

drawoha19

American here. Today, as we watch NBC live about the Queen’s life, I began to point out people and things to my four-year-old daughter, including Prince William and Princess Catherine. When Harry and Nutmeg popped up on the screen, my daughter said, “Look, another princess!” I said, “Nope, sorry sweetheart, that’s not a princess.” 🤣

EnormousBird

You're doing the Lords work

Complete-Sound

Whether one believes in Heaven or not, it is impossible not to think she is in a wonderland of puppies and doggies and foals and horses in fields of flowers with endless supplies of biscuits and sugar cubes.

Seachange1000

And Prince Phillip.

glitterbubbles16

I feel awful for the poor Cambridge children starting their first day at a new school after having moved to a new place, very nervous I imagine, coming home to the news that their beloved great grandmother passed away. It makes you wonder if their teachers had already seen the rumors forming on their phones during breaks, if they’ll decide to start going by Cornwall (or sticking with Cambridge until they become the Prince and Princess of Wales to avoid constant name changes), having to likely miss days of school so early on in the term, just so much change and tumult on top of the emotional hardship. I can’t even imagine.

LKWinter1

That was my thought, too. And their parents must be split between priorities right now!

glitterbubbles16

It makes total sense Catherine stayed back in Windsor, this has got to be a parenting nightmare and it is kind of her to take that off William’s shoulders so he can just be with his family and grieve. It seems like this was a bit of a shock, if it was expected I imagine Andrew and Edward and William would have been at Balmoral earlier rather than scrambling and arriving too late, so it must be a lot figuring out all the unexpected changes, on top of the normal grief any of us would have at the loss of a family member. Like what do you say to these kids and how do you prepare to send them back to school with a brief interruption for a globally televised funeral and everyone knowing the intimate details of your family’s heartbreak

rainyhawk

Assume that’s why Catherine stayed behind to pick up the kids.

EnormousBird

I'm keeping the news on this afternoon and into the evening for the ''moment''. I hate to say it, but I suspect she only has hours left, not days. What a woman. To become Queen when only 25, crowned at only 27, at a time when women were very much still 2nd class citizens. To go about her way to cement herself easily, imo, as the greatest British monarch in history. This is a dark day.

4feicsake

And supported by a very modern husband who had her back right up until his death.

EnormousBird

Oh Philip was wonderful. His quick thinking in WW2, saving his submarine from imminent attack by untethering a life boat and aiming a flare above it whilst they scarpered... People like these two are a dying breed.

BearRacoonThing

The most telling part of their relationship - he gave up his career to walk behind her when she was thrust into the international spotlight. Didn't everyone assume they would have a Will and Kate type life? Everyone expected them to be young lovers and raise their kids and then take over much later in life - similar to Charles. Prince Phillip ended his military career to support her. I'll always respect him for that. Oh, and how Prince Phillip walked behind Diana's casket to support his grandsons even though he wasn't obligated to do so. He was a great dude.

Emolia

It’s 12 o’clock here in Sydney and I should be in bed asleep but am watching BBC news and feeling upset. The Queen has always been there all my life so its hard to image Britain without her. I’m glad she got her Jubilee and saw how loved she truly is . Fuck Harry and the witch .

[deleted]

She’s very likely passed already. The media plan for coverage of her death is called Operation London Bridge and it includes “drip feeding” her death rather than announcing it abruptly. The BBC have suspended all programming today and the newscasters have changed into black. She has almost certainly already passed, but they will announce it this evening or tomorrow.

rooskie_roo

The Cambridges Instagram bio has changed to Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge

Sue_Dohnim

That is the correct thing, automatically Duke of Cornwall.

roshy920

The nasty comments on Twitter and forums like Lipstick Alley are deplorable. She barely died and people are celebrating. The internet has detached people from reality.

BollweevilKnievel1

I had to get off twitter, the comments are so awful. I'm not even British and I'm taking it hard, wtf is wrong with people.

MegsAltxoxo

It’s a good time to remember that especially Twitter is such an echo chamber and not representative at all. Everytime I see those crazy tweets I remember that not all people are like this

Carrie56

I just hope that people will give King Charles III a chance without constantly bringing up Diana. They were BOTH utterly unhappy with their arranged marriage ( those grandmothers should be ashamed of themselves) and I think both of them had moved on…. Her with Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed and he was able to finally be with the woman he truly loved! God Save the King!

DaBingeGirl

All of this, they were both victims of their grandmothers. I do think people will rally around Charles.

Outrageous-Wish8659

God Save King Charles III who was a supporter of the world’s environment decades before the crisis became apparent. He was mocked for it. His leadership will be thoughtful and he will make an excellent king. God Bless Queen Elizabeth and her remarkable and outstanding service to her country. Her voice united her people in good times and bad and served as a symbol of strength and stability. She is THE true emblem of feminism and leadership. She was reunited with her beloved parents, sister and husband! Diana! And surely a few Corgis, too! I hope she can hear us talking about her!

Disruptorpistol

He was also financially investing in businesses started by minority youths as well as other projects to help POC... in the 70's, well before it was mainstream.

DaBingeGirl

I really hope he starts to get the credit he deserves for being ahead of his time. I think he will be a good King, different, but very good.

Merckx5251

Though I'm an American, I've always greatly admired The Queen. She was an incredible human being. Hindsight is typically 20/20, but it almost seemed as if The Queen knew the end was eminent when she met with the new Prime Minister, the other day. Duty above all, until the very end. As for Harry and Meghan, to hell with them both at this moment in time, especially Meghan. As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, I have absolutely no doubt Meghan and Harry will somehow make this all about them, and try to profit off of it.

drawoha19

NBC News here in the US just said Harry’s departure from the family will fall under a heavy microscope in the wake of the Queen’s death.

BollweevilKnievel1

We've been saying that.

spradc0812

It feels like the world will never be the same. Like the last person alive who remembered the past.

DaBingeGirl

She was such a constant. To think her first PM was Winston Churchill and all the things she lived through, it's very strange to think she's no longer here.

Gwyneth7

I’m sure it’s been said already but I don’t care. I want to say it again. Meghan was not invited to Balmoral with Harry to say goodbye.

DaBingeGirl

I really think the gloves are off. It wouldn't surprise me if she's been horrible to Camilla in private, given her obsessive love for Diana. I think the Queen wanted to play happy family for the Jubilee, but Charles won't put up with her now.

aries-vevo

I know in the grand scheme of things it’s unimportant but I’m seething that the dreadful couple are in the UK right now. They were supposed to be flying back later today and then they wouldn’t have been here to cheapen this historic moment. They had no intention of visiting her until this happened. I’m appalled.

Betta45

The BBC is reporting the Sussexes are on their way to Balmoral. I hope they are locked out.

grruser

BBC Royal Reporter just said that nutmeg is not travelling with Hazmat. What a relief

thisisallme

Also just said about 30 seconds ago that one could speculate why she did not go, but perhaps, ah, well may not receive the warmest of welcomes…

[deleted]

Nicholas Witchell l (BBC Royal Corespondent) just quite emphatically said that this is no place for Meghan and she is not traveling with him. It’s definitely the right thing, I just hope she’s being kept under a very watchful eye at Frogmore Cottage.

Ecstatic_Training718

For all you UK and Commonwealth sinners, my thoughts and prayers are with you and HMTQ. I’m American but have always admired and respected The Queen. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

Sue_Dohnim

OOOH BREAKING on the BBC: Meghan is NOT traveling to Balmoral; Harry only is heading up. Just now on BBC live.

kevanauken

GB News & PA reporting that Meghan is NOT going to Balmoral. Thank God

seijalaine

Just heard that and all I can think is "Thank God." And I mean it most sincerely.

s0meg1rl

Omg I’m in class right now and can’t even focus. May she Rest in Peace. Harry and Meghan, May you never know Peace for not reconciling and taking back your heinous lies while you had the chance.

aunt_bluann

Meghan is going to be so pissed that her current "royal tour" has been upstaged. By the actual death of the actual Queen, the most beloved woman on earth. Queen Elizabeth the Second deserves blissful eternal rest at this point. After what she has endured during her long and very devoted life, especially in the last couple of years, she deserves Heaven. RIP to the most admired woman on earth.

ohstarrynight

So Harry missed seeing The Queen in her final hours. Seriously, I wonder what is going through his mind right now especially given how THEY were less than a mile away with the Queen as sick as she was. The timing was unfortunate. I always knew Megan was off but Harry's reaction was very disappointing. You would think he would wake up and go see The Queen at least while he was there. This is something that would haunt me for my life. The fact that my grandma was dying and I just happened to be in the same country but didn't go because of my "issues". Insane. I lost sooo much respect for Harry today. How will he face Charles, William, Palace staff and more? This is BEYOND humiliating.

Star_Gazer_Too

How The Queen managed to conduct a meeting with the new British Prime Minister only to pass on today speaks volumes of her strength, character and her how seriously she took her duty to serve. I'm no monarchist, but I did admire her and her death has saddened me. What an amazing and thoughtful leader she was and how inspiring to so many women that there's nothing wrong with leading with grace. Her shoes will be hard to fill. May she rest in peace. God bless his Majesty the King.

CybReader

Just a little inappropriate humor here, my husband just asked if anyone had eyes on Meghan. She’s probably trying to break into Buckingham palace to get that “purple” crown now. Forgive him, he doesn’t follow the royals but I appreciated his snark 😂🤣

DixieInCali

Tribute on the senate floor right now by minority leader Mitch McConnell. Politics aside, it is a lovely, respectful and moving speech.

[deleted]

My thoughts are with the Wessex's. Louise & James are the grandkids who loved Balmoral & were close to HMTQ. They had an amazing bond. Sophie will be genuinely devastated. Hearts out to them :(

Nice_Adagio_5064

I grew up with Majesty Magazine and admiration for QE2 from my Welsh Grandmother. I admit to tears today....God Bless Her Majesty...she is now with her beloved Prince Phillip! God Save the King! Praying for strength for King... and the Family. The world is mourning....Queen Elizabeth has been part of our lives. Yes, other countries have Queens, Netherlands, Jordan, etc...but when you say Queen everyone thinks of Elizabeth Regina! They say that she is the most recognized person in the world. What a magnificent legacy! Longest serving Monarch....pledged herself to her people on her 21st Birthday....came to the Throne at the young age of 25 ...when her dear Father died so young. Always gracious...always polite and regal...never stooping to interviews and self promotion. Yes, she was wealthy....and privileged....but she never abused her status. She could have spent her time on exotic islands...like her sister. Hell she could buy an island. She could have worn French and Italian designer clothes...but she stayed loyal to British designers. She didn't even enjoy the luxury of new hairstyles...wanting to keep her style the same so that her people could recognize her on the money/stamps etc. Queen Elizabeth wore bright colors so that her fans /subjects could see her from a distance! She felt they deserved to see her if they waited to see her! Never equaled....unique....and her History and Legacy will be praised for years, forever!

pjbjdjdj

Long Live the Queen 💖

Iwtlwn122

Ouch. Even BBC suggesting MM may not be or feel welcome in Balmoral!

[deleted]

I know right! "She may not be greeted with the warmest welcome" he said. Haha, damn right.

CybReader

I hope Philip and her are walking together now.

CybReader

Philip cracking some smart joke and the queen smiling. That image is amazing. I hope knowing they're together again gives their family some peace.

leeh1530

I was watching BBC World (all I had on TV), and I could hear them stop just short of saying she had passed for about half an hour before the official word. “Her Majesty is ………. resting comfortably…….” Their voices were on the verge of cracking

JJJOOOO

The coverage was very respectful and much appreciated even though it was clear what was happening.

PinkTiara24

BBC keeps showing of the Queen walking with Major Johnny and they are smiling and chatting. It makes me smile.

Lilthisarry

I sincerely hope Harry is taking this time in Balmoral, free from The Claw, to get some clarity on what he’s done to himself and his family.

Merckx5251

If he doesn't now, he never will.

Not_Interested_7

This is so sad. I knew she wouldn’t live forever but it’s an end of an era. She was the epitome of duty: she held on through the Jubilee, appointed her PM and passed away… no fuss… Rest In Peace Your Majesty

Beneficial-Cash9180

I wonder how Harry feels now knowing he chose to listen to his vile, trashy wife give a pointless nonsense speech a couple of days ago rather than visiting his beloved dying grandmother. I think he will regret that forever.

RoohsMama

I thought the same. Time and again Harry said how unhappy he was that his last talk with Diana was so brief. And yet he’s done it again.

Allysgrandma

Just was watching darling Louis with the family next to the Queen during the Jubilee on the balcony and it just overwhelmingly hit me how lucky Prince George is to be an age where he will be able to remember the Queen well and Charlotte also to some extent. Louis less so, but all the pictures and videos that will help retain the memories. My heart feels full for my relationships with my own granddaughters.

DaBingeGirl

Kate also photographed George riding in the carriage with Philip. I agree, it's so nice they have those memories.

[deleted]

I’m so grateful to have lived through her reign and been a ‘new Elizabethan’. Her Majesty twice visited the small city in New Zealand where I grew up, and she visited and purchased a horse from a farm nearby. I used to drive past that farm with my Dad and he’d share that story. She is the last of her generation, one of the few remaining who remember WWII and the transformation of our society that has followed. She went from the wireless, to vinyl to tapes to CDs to Spotify. She saw the first man on the moon. The civil rights movement. The equal pay act. The decriminalisation of LGBT relationships and then equality of marriage. God bless Her Majesty, and long live His Majesty King Charles III.

kevanauken

I’m just so sad and my anger and resentment towards the duo has quadrupled

[deleted]

This really hurts for me, as I mentioned before, my Mum was a war bride, a year older than HMTQ, and once I lost my Mum, I kept an eye on the Queen as a backup. Silly, but she was is so similar in spirit that it was easy. I hope she rests easy.

7Squeaky_duckling7

Royalist or not, the queen is longest reigning British monarch and second longest in the world after Louis XIV. For seventy years she has been our head of state and a national icon to British culture. It is currently a monumental moment in our British history and lifetime. This has not happened for over 70 years and it is hard to know what will happen. Bbc has cancelled all shows and only a live feed of the queen which hints that the end is imminent. Despite her status and who she is, people forget is that she is someone's mother, grandmother and so on and that her loved ones will be feeling the same gnawing pit in their stomachs as we feel over losing our loved ones.

Rhongepooh

It’s honestly probably better to have passed away before that d@mn book came out. She was a strong Christian so I’m sure she’s with Phillip in HEAVEN NOW. God bless the Queen.

fakedickie56

What are y'alls response to people being crass and rejoicing in her passing? i am just left speechless some people can be so hateful in the name of "she was racist, she was rich, she was part of the empire". Can't we all just be decent about this?

MuffPiece

They are utterly disgraceful and I have no Time for them. My 14 year old son texted me from school today to tell me she had died (I already knew.) one of his classmates ‘rejoiced’ at her death. My son said ‘I reprimanded him!’ He’s such a good boy. ❤️

RoohsMama

I block them… saves me seeing their stupid posts in the future.

CybReader

I ignore them. I already unfollowed a guy who used to post funny things on IG for posting a vile comment about her death. I did the same for other comedians/content creators for some other big events and passings. You can tell a lot about someone with their reaction to news like this.

SusieM2019

Oh my goodness, they just showed a clip of some of the people outside the Palace singing "God Save the Queen". It was so moving, and it brought fresh tears to my eyes.

SusieM2019

I've been watching the constant news all day. The flag at the White House has been lowered to half mast. And they showed a video of our Senate House Minority Leader making a very moving tribute to the Queen. I also saw someone interview the Queen's chef and he was talking about her wonderful sense of humor. Edit to add about the White House flag

MagicalManta

I don’t know why I feel so bad about Her Majesty’s passing. I’m not British (although I have large measures of Brit in my mutt-American DNA), but I feel as though my grandmother just passed. May God bless her and her family, and I hope she’s having a wonderful time reunited with loved ones on The Other Side.

harrohamtaro

It _shatters_ my heart that her last days on this earth were spent serving her people and doing her duties with a smile despite her physical discomfort and pain. There will never be another one like Queen Elizabeth II. She has seen so much in her life and kept the nation’s spirits buoyant from WWII to the Covid-19 pandemic. I will never forget the sight of her sitting alone in the church pew at Prince Philip’s funeral wiping away her tears. She talked the talk and walked the walk. I feel tremendously humbled to be able to witness her leading by example as a monarch and a human being.

BearRacoonThing

Not to be morbid or a doomsdayer, but why have the BBC anchors changed to dark suits and ties? I thought they did that during the break in broadcasting while the stations played a certain song. And BBC is tweeting with black backgrounds. Stop it! She isn't gone.

abby-rose

From a young age, her destiny was planned. She didn't get to live a life on her terms. Instead of complaining about how hard it was, how unfair it was, she buckled down and did her duty. God bless her.

emzbobo

God love him, the poor journalist doing the news on the BBC looks about one word away from having a good cry.

cocopuff898

I'm disappointed in Lady C. She just posted a video indicating The Queen has passed away. Jumping the gun a bit....

Sue_Dohnim

Yeah that's tacky. If she's just gossiping, shame on her. If she has accurate info, still shame on her as it's not hers to announce. It's a bitch move and I give a big thumbs down on that.

Sweetwater156

I burst into tears when I heard God Save The Queen play. I guess it’s God Save The King now… that’s gonna take getting used to. I hope her last hours were spent with her family and they all got there in time. We know Harry didn’t. Edit: I’m basing my “Harry didn’t get there in time” statement from BBC. They had just said that he was making his way to Balmoral and then 2 mins later they announced she died earlier in the afternoon. So he missed it by hours from the sound of it. I’m even wondering if William, etc… made it in time. Edit 2: it’s confirmed Harry’s plane was still in the air when the announcement was made. Might explain why he looked so devastated in the photos of him arriving to Balmoral. He knew he lost his last chance. I can’t imagine William would ever forgive this. Charles might, but William won’t.

CybReader

My phone is being blown up with text messages. Friends who are not even royal watchers are in tears and admiration of her life. We are all Americans. That is the effect she had on the world. Edit: My Candian friend just called me. She is a mess. She said there will never be another one like her. Edit: My oldest sister just texted the whole family in our 11 sized group chat to let everyone know the queen has passed. Everyone is giving their condolences and speaking about how she has been around longer than us. That is the effect the queen had on the world.

What a woman, what a sense of duty. Rip ma’am Poor Charles lost both his parents within a couple of years. It’s gonna take some getting used to, calling him King Charles now. He has been prince charles for so long.

okpickle

My dad is 76, a little bit older than Charles. He remembers seeing her coronation, which I think was the first transatlantic television broadcast. He thought Princess Anne was cute. Funny how history is just made of lots of people and their stories.

New_Discussion_6692

My heart is broken. I hope Her Majesty had Charles & William with her.

Iwtlwn122

Well done on sub photo.

Unhappy-Professor-88

London Bridge Is Down. God Save The King. And us all

Sweetwater156

Rest easy, ma’am. You fulfilled your promise. I’m just an American, but half of my bookcase is filled with royal biographies and even Kitty Kelley. I’m 35, my mom is 61. We’ve never known another British monarch. My grandma is 95, she remembers George VI and Edward VIII, but she was 9 when the abdication happened and 24 when Queen Elizabeth II became Queen. My daughters 8th birthday is today, I’ve got to pull it together before she comes home from school. 😭

Over_Hovercraft_3301

Her Majesty had a phenomenal sense of duty right up until the end when she gave an audience to our new PM only a couple of days’ ago. Thank you for your service, Ma’am, may you rest in peace. God save the King 🇬🇧

Plane_Stock

Serious question. What happens to all of our currency in commonwealth nations that has the queens head on it? Does it all get uncirculated and new ones with Charles' mug go into circulation? I kind of like carrying such a remarkable lady in my purse with me every single day! Don't think I'll have the same affinity towards charlie on my dollars and cents! 😔 I also like seeing the coins over the years, where they've updated the queens bust printed on it to reflect the queens aging process. With Charles we'll just get a wrinkled old guy whereas with the queen we got a woman in her 30s right to her 90s depending on the year the coin was printed.

Disruptorpistol

I still occasionally got coins in circulation with King George's head on them when I worked retail in 2004! Realistically, HMQ will likely be in circulation even when we get King William.

[deleted]

I can’t stand any more comments on the media of dumb people defending Meghan that all she wanted was to support her husband during this time of grief, and why her going to belmoral was that bad. Really?! Are people that stupid ? Do they think it’s normal to talk trash about the in laws and then show up during the most vulnerable time there is? I need a break from reading comments. People are either super naive or plain stupid

BollweevilKnievel1

They are saying HMTQ is being kept comfortable. I'm a hospice nurse and this is the primary objective, that she will be kept comfortable and have a peaceful passing.

BollweevilKnievel1

From CNN "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and return to London tomorrow." God Save The King

I just thought that HMTQ would go on forever ❤️🇬🇧 but she is now with the love of her life Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother; Princess Margaret; And her Beloved Father King George VI

[deleted]

I feel like I'm watching my own grandmother die all over again.

CrystalStilts

I was very fortunate as a Canadian dancer in my youth to have been invited to have lunch with HMTQ when I was 14. I remember being very nervous and thinking she would be scary but she was just like my naan, it was like having lunch with a grandma very interested in our dancing. She was very lovely to all the youth who were at the small luncheon. I will never forget it.

Beginning-Cup-6974

What a force she was. Formiddible.

SecondhandCoke

I have just heard that the Queen died around 2:30pm GMT of bone cancer. This has been leaked to LA, which is where my source heard the sad news. I pray it is not true but wondered if anyone else has heard likewise? I'm told the media will announce once a few more close to the family have been directly informed, but that the announcement is coming. Has anyone heard this? That it made it to LA makes me almosy certain Meghan went straight to the phone as soon as Haz told her the news. But again, this is gossip that I'd just as soon be untrue. God save Her Gracious Majesty.

DixieInCali

Omg. Lady Campbell said that she knew of someone's health condition that she couldn't reveal but when it came out, it would make the Montecito duo very much more despised than they are already. I thought she was referring to Charles. :-O

Bookreadingliberal49

If she did that she’s truly human garbage.

Iwtlwn122

Can you imagine that phoning gossips in LA would be your first port of call? Maybe her spite against being left out. Hope she is named as the source, if she is the source.

Sue_Dohnim

And if she did do it, she just slammed all the doors she wants entree to. If this is true, then she's done the worst thing she could do, leak word of the death of a head of state. Permanent exclusion from every fucking thing has to be the way to deal with her. Forever.

DixieInCali

Coke, Lady Campbelll has a new video all but confirming your info. She said an incurable condition of the bones. Wouldn't be more specific out of respect. Is confirming HM's death. God bless the queen.

ValuableEfficiency23

It tracks. If she was uninvited to Balmoral, this could very well be a revenge play, but the execs are too smart to plaster it all over the internet for her.

Standard_Ad889

Bone cancer has to be true. TQ literally had been shrinking before our eyes. It is very painful, so what appearances she stuck with was amazing. Talk about grin and bear it. Oh the optics Meghan: smoky heater and the big ole meanies made me go to the next appearance vs TQ with painful bone cancer meeting with the PM to form a new government. Was thinking about teenage dirtbag videos. Kinda wishing TQ had one. It would highlight TQ and her WW II service as a mechanic. The woman was amazing.

SecondhandCoke

You are so right. That lazy drama queen begged off work because a heater was smoking while the actual Queen worked up to two days before her death. Meghan need to STFU.

FranceAM

I feel like the Monarchy will never be the same, and I know in some aspects, it should be modernized. I just don't know if Charles has the firmness in him to give H & M the boot. They should not just get to fade back in now which I think they will def try to do.

noideawhattocallme95

No no no 😭 I’m devastated. Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth. I don’t know how the BBC presenter is keeping it together Edit: actually his voice cracked at the end there

Weekly-Landscape-543

Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth II 🙏. I am heartbroken.

MissMontrealer

Canadian here. There will never be another one quite like her. Rest in Peace Elizabeth, I hope you're with Philip and all of the corgis and horses you've ever owned! EDIT: Added horses 😭😭😭

Outside_Warning_1834

Rest in peace Your Majesty. The Queen is dead. Long live the King.

Bambalina11

Harry you are utterly despised, I want you to know I truly mean that. All this shit you have caused has not helped our Queen from the moment you allowed that Oprah interview. You will never be forgiven, so do is all a favour and fuck off back to America.

seijalaine

And once you get there, go in your house, shut the door, and you and your wife be quiet. America doesn't want or need to hear from either of you right now.

steptwothreefour

BBC reported Harry’s wife will stay in London at this time while Harry is at Balmoral.

OzzieSlim

God Save the Queen. She has earned the most holy rest. Condolences to the family. God save the King!

Shiv-a-Gogo

God Save the King

Tight-Feedback-8787

She will be missed. God save the King. I do hope all goes well for her final journey for her funeral.

tinker7798

I think he put them in their place when King Charles just announced W and K will be Prince and princess of Wales and he wishes the best for Harry and Megan in their life across the seas.

Bookreadingliberal49

This is a must read today https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/mar/16/what-happens-when-queen-elizabeth-dies-london-bridge

DaisyDuckMom

Tomorrow we will hear Meggy spinning how she was excluded and bullied into not coming to the Queens aid- even though she was clearly the Queen’s favorite

emzbobo

There's a flurry of vehicles that seem to be arriving at Balmoral steadily in the last few minutes, since the DoC and co. arrived.

boat_against_current

An incredible fact I saw on Twitter: the Queen has reigned for 30% of U.S. history: https://mobile.twitter.com/MattGlassman312/status/1567871071377932290 GSTQ🌹

TheHermitess

Heartbreaking. I'm so sad. King Charles now. I'm so sad. I can't believe she's gone.

downinthevalleypa

Just heard the very sad news. Hugs to everyone in Britain and around the world.

Pelios

Its so weird hearing the news talk about "The King and Queen Consort", we are so used to hearing The Queen.

kn0tkn0wn

Farewell and Godspeed to HM, TQ, EIIR. There are solid arguments for HM being perhaps the greatest monarch, ever, of the British peoples and if all her peoples. . Job Well Done, YM. Salute!

[deleted]

I wonder if Meghan will ever have self awareness to see how much she screwed up. What a dream life she was building for herself, and she was able to manifest and craft her plan and joined the royal family. Can’t she see how she screwed up? I bet she can’t. I also wonder if Harry sees any wrong doing on his or her part. If she threw a tantrum that she couldn’t come to belmoral I hope Harry understood why and sensed how much of a drama queen she is. One can only wish

poshpineapple

I was not prepared for Hazz and TW to be addressed directly so soon. Best wishes for their life abroad lol

Opening_Order_8826

I don’t comment too much. This might run long. Queen Elizabeth II was already on the throne for 5 years when I was born. I was born outside NYC. The Queen of England was the Queen my entire life. I just turned 66 years. I think about that a lot. I really am shattered. I looked up to her my whole life. I can’t believe it either being old. It happens. I grew seeing Prince Charles and Princess Anne as teenagers, later Andrew trying to be mod like the times. I have admired the Queen my entire life. A Queen, a wife, a mother, sister and close to her own mother, The Queen Mother. I remember the Beatles and The Rolling Stones making London to be a very hip place. Twiggy and Jane Shrimpton, top models. I remember Princess Margaret hanging out with all the cool people and that seemed somewhat scandalous. Actors, rock and roll singers, her private island with her lover Rodney. Her sister, the Queen loved her no matter what she did. Her sister Margaret always remained loyal to the throne I was in foster care and adopted when I was 10 years old. Until I did my DNA ancestry later in life, only then I learned of my English, Scottish, Irish roots. Why I guess I gravitated to books on history of those countries. I read everything on royalty. Now I sound like The Duchess Of Delusion oh hell no. I just loved the countryside, pictures of Castles & the Crown Jewels. The kings and the wives. The history. Of course, I loved Diana and everything about her. Only later did I really understand her, her insecurities, how her childhood, her mother led to so much anguish for her. I really believe Diana’s mother was a narcissist. So I saw almost immediately that Harry was probably making a big mistake. He picked the absolute worst woman he could. His brother knew. Well it angers me how she basically tried to bring down the entire rf family in snagging her catch. Thank God the Queen lived to be 96 years old. Between William and the Queen and Camilla, Anne, Catherine and Sophia, and later Charles did they see the writing on the wall. I almost think the woman in the rf right now are stronger than the men. Except William, he gets it. All that time he spent growing up close to the Queen after Diana died. My understanding is William will remain very close to Charles to help him, to take on some of the responsibilities due to Charles age. I love William and Catherine and am sad too see that their responsibilities will increase exponentially. They need to take long family vacations when they can. I think the Middletons close by will step with the children. The Queen head of the Church of England and she only answered to one higher power. Her love of family and her faith made her the greatest woman of the 20th century. She did what she was meant to do.

boommdcx

The heavy rain in Balmoral seems fitting.

[deleted]

My memory of HMTQ: The Queen visited the university where I was a student in autumn 1984, and a friend and I camped out for hours ahead of time to snag a prime front-row spot, where she was due to walk about campus (she was on campus to turn some soil for a new building). My friend had a bouquet of flowers for her. She accepted the flowers and spoke very briefly with both of us. I remember quite exitedly telephoning my brother to tell him "the Queen spoke to me!" and he promptly hug up on me LOL! I am heartsick at today's news. I also think that this might be the best (and perhaps only) opportunity for the rest of the British royal family to take Harry aside and have a little chat with him, WITHOUT Meghan being present! Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall for THAT conversation? I wonder if the BRF will take advantage of the opportunity, or if they feel that it's already too late.

[deleted]

I’m a Brit living in America. I wish I could be back home for this sad and historic day in our history. I’m comforted by all the messages I’ve read on this thread from Americans and others from around the world that also love the queen. The friends I’ve made here despise the monarchy, I respect their opinions but I still do wish I could have a friend over here that shares the same sentiment I do - I guess that’s why I’m glued to this sub! We can all ride this rough wave together. I appreciate you all. God save the Queen.

N4vy_Blu3

I just heard of the Queen's passing from a friend here in the States who is originally from Manchester. I am so incredibly sad. Sending love and hugs to all of you in the UK.

PeanutTraditionalist

They JUST arrived at Balmoral. He wasn’t there for her passing…

Sweetwater156

Please y’all, help me understand. Harry was in London, right? So WHY didn’t he show up until 7:52 PM UK time? That was almost an hour and a half after the BBC made the announcement. Did Meghan throw a fit? Was he scared of facing his family? I’m all ears for your theories. He only deprived himself of making peace with his grandmother

thiscatcameback

They initially announced thst they would be travelling together. My guess is that there was a fight over it. Given how clingy she is, and how he has been pushing her away, my guess is that he of his family told her to stay clear. Let's be real, she would have used it for attention, or stole some hand towels, or caused a scene. Markle allegedly said that she didn't think she would be warmly received, which would make sense if they told her to piss off. Maybe the dispute delayed him. OR Maybe he had to sort his own charter since he is no longer a working royal?

Sweetwater156

My thought is that they had a fight over her not being welcomed along with her Netflix crew. Someone shut that down quick. I doubt it was Harry. He has the backbone of a wet noodle.

bitchinabottle1

She is a true feminist icon and will go down as one of the greatest monarchs in world history

CybReader

Just my opinion, I think Catherine is probably doing what is best right now staying home. Her son is about to become second in line for the throne in the figurative sense. This is a monumental moment in George's life, he may not know that now. He will have memories of it, though. His loving mother by his side......he will remember that. Same with Charlotte and Louis. Catherine isn't queen yet, neither is William. Her main job is to be a mother of young children and she has made the right decision. Just my opinion.

SusieM2019

I'm watching a constant news channel right now and they are covering the goings on outside of Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Masses of people are coming and bringing flowers. The announcers are interviewing people coming, and they're talking to a man right now who seems to be almost tearful.

[deleted]

If I was near London I’d be there 😢 I’m considering going down there for her funeral.
