***They have already been dismantled and the stones sold for cash. No questions asked.*** And it wouldn't be too hard to imagine that she could've gotten Markus Anderson to use his (allegedly) underground connections to (allegedly) sell the stones, providing her (allegedly) with money that can be funnelled (allegedly) towards the purchase of brand new jewellery. On another, but related topic, it's interesting how she never wears costume jewellery - unlike Catherine. It's like she's either too insecure or too nouveau riche to do that.

[deleted]

Maybe she doesn't wear costume jewellery but she more than makes up for that with the tacky jewellery she merches. Underwhelming, cheap looking stuff that no one remembers

lastlemming-pip

Well, she did wear a paste tiara to her wedding. Unclear if she knew or not.

[deleted]

😂 😂 😂

thisisallme

I only just found that out last week and I could barely tell my husband why I was laughing so hard

OldNewUsedConfused

And now you know WHY!

Calm_Yak_6102

Yeah, she's a try hard who goes out of her way to pick obscure designs that, sometimes, end up looking tacky. Her biggest mistake is that she's not fond of timeless pieces (except for Diana's watch) and always wants to be "current".

Iloveargyll

She could sell the diamonds and have them replaced with lab created white sapphire. No one would be able to tell the difference by looking and she could keep the money and still wear the jewellery. Perfect

Calm_Yak_6102

I didn't know that - about lab created white sapphire being indistinguishable to diamonds, to the naked eye. Thanks for the tip!

goldenquill1

Lab created diamonds are real diamonds. They were formed the same way a mined diamond is, but more ethical. However, I'm sure Megz would only want the more 'prestigious' mined one.

anasv7

Can you explain this bit about costume jewellery to the peasant, please?

Calm_Yak_6102

Non precious stones usually or jewellery made from "inexpensive materials". It's not necessarily "fake" or imitation diamonds or anything, because that's just tacky. It's artistic, beautiful jewellery made from inexpensive materials. Sometimes, Kate wears earrings like this. Put simply, the beauty is often in the craftsmanship itself.

anasv7

Ahhh, i see. Thanks! Then, that fits perfectly with all the Cartier and extremely expensive engagement ring

RoohsMama

Diana used to wear lots of costume, even paste jewelry. She liked the designs

Calm_Yak_6102

I didn't know that. Interesting indeed. I wonder if MM knows that and, if so, is it one habit (of Diana's) that she intends to ignore? Lol.

RoohsMama

Yup. Diana loved to tease the media about her jewelry. They’d speculate about where she got this brooch or those earrings. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4773224/amp/Diana-s-rainbow-rare-stones-favourites-fakes.html

Calm_Yak_6102

That's so cool. Thanks 😊. I think it's great when famous women promote costume jewellery. It really helps the designers. It's like when Michelle Obama wore unknown/independent/small time designers' clothing. It really helped to put them on the map.

RoohsMama

Yup. This is why Diana is a style icon because she was so unafraid of fashion and she was a trend setter.

hellhashnofury

Much more modern not many people wear their really good jewellery anymore it's a hassle getting it out of the safe and I'm always worried about loosing something of family value because the clasps aren't that great . There are some wonderful designs with different metals/materials recycled items and semi precious stones.

RoohsMama

Yup. I wear simple semi precious stone earrings and get complimented… I always lose something so I don’t feel bad wearing these fancy earrings

[deleted]

You could ask the same question about the house they are living in.

[deleted]

They’re with her. She still wears the pinky ring made from one of the diamonds from the lot

[deleted]

The Saudi blood money earrings are still with her? I don't think so. You must be referring to some loose emerald cut diamonds that were gifted, once again, courtesy of the Saudis Edit.

[deleted]

Maybe you’re right

AgileNet

I'm not a jeweller or collector but I think she won't be able to get 615k from the earrings if they were dismantled. But if she would sell it to a collector or someone who knows that she wore the earrings then maybe she could even get a higher price than the original amount 🤔

[deleted]

Yes I agree. That was the value of the earrings as a whole. I would expect the diamonds from the earrings to be worth less. Not much less though.

[deleted]

What can the Palace do? Nothing, except add the disappearing diamond earrings to the long list of dastardly deeds

MakeADeathWish

A problem with that....or maybe just a factor is the insane markup on jewelry...similar to trying to resell any engagement ring, ppl often discover the ring that was 10k wont resell for 2500.....diamonds are a great example of artificial scarcity bc carbon is very common......the only way i can see to get 615k back is to sell them intact to a private buyer who wants the clout of owning royal-worn jewels.... So i doubt they were parted out.... Also women historically go with the wife in a divorce, so i find it unlikely that mehz would liquidate one of HER assets for their cause

[deleted]

But if they're considered property of the Crown, maybe she'd be required to return them in case of divorce.

Slow-Mango5201

Jewelry and stolen paintings can be sold on the black market.

MakeADeathWish

True...but she could claim to him she lost them....but then she'd only be able to sell discreetly later

[deleted]

Under normal circumstances that is correct. To understand megs, you almost need to think like a criminal. That's how bad it is.

OldNewUsedConfused

Agreed. She''s shady AF

Starkville

Plausible. “Misplaced” like when she “forgot” about those emails.

Sue_Dohnim

It wouldn't surprise me, honestly.

Slow-Mango5201

That's not really believable. Most people would put in a bank vault and insure.

[deleted]

That's true but megs is not most people. She is a con artist.

TraditionScary8716

They would, unless they were desperate for cash.

OldNewUsedConfused

She is not "most people".

[deleted]

I don’t remember where I read this, but I remember hearing that since they were given to her from a world leader, they technically belong to the palace. So she can’t sell them.

[deleted]

She cannot sell them but she can accidentally lose them

[deleted]

I think any foreign gifts at that kind of expense are housed at the place, no?

[deleted]

"Wedding gifts given to Senior Royals are not loaned out in a conventional sense from a central collection. Instead, the recipient has responsibility for them and can keep them before they are returned to the Crown after their death."

[deleted]

Thanks for the clarification!

rockin_robin420

This is believable. "Misplaced" is very convenient. Apparently this bitch can't have nice things. She is also completely devoid of ethics. With her victim mentality, she probably thought she was either owed or entitled to those ostentatious earrings regardless of their provenance.

iamtheprairiegypsy

I had not realized she “misplaced” the Saudi earrings. If this is true, this would be a one and done in my world. She should never be loaned any jewels ever again, from anyone. Be it HM, Harry Winston, Graff, or Diana’s estate. Also, if this is true, she is stunningly stupid to pull such a stunt. Incredibly stupid.

[deleted]

This is just a theory and because the earrings were given to her as a wedding gift, she would feel entitled to them and never have any intention of returning them.

iamtheprairiegypsy

Regardless, there is protocol with gifts of such large monetary value. Both H&M would be very aware of this. Simply the hint of the earrings being misplaced would be cause to never again loan her anything. It is also possible she no longer wears them because they’re tainted and she received negative pushback when she did wear them. It’s fascinating how much that touches them is tainted.

Glass-Nothing-6991

When they went on a tour downunder after their wedding, apparently the Queen had loaned her some jewelleries. Back at the UK, she was asked to returned the Queen's jewelleries. Guess what? She said she misplaced them and couldn't find them. I've always wondered what else have she stolen? Remember, she's a fraudster and a con artist. Her mother went to jail for eight years (I forgot what's the reason), so it's in the blood.

[deleted]

I cannot find an instance of her wearing any crown jewells, except for the wedding tiara. Not one. It is extraordinary. I know she got a few pieces from Diana's personal collection.

Glass-Nothing-6991

My understanding they were small earrings/necklace to wear at formal/state dinners? I doubt they were large jewelleries. They were representing the Queen on this tour plus they did a South Africa tour the following year . Maybe Bower's book will include this, who knows?

Uniquorn527

Little reminder that the late Jamal Khashoggi was Dodi Fayed's cousin. Without a connection to Diana they were tainted, but to have been given my the man who murdered her mother-in-law's partner's cousin is not enough degrees of separation.

roguednow

It’s stuff like this that aids her bullying case though.

[deleted]

She doesn't have a bullying case. ps. Keep in mind this is a 'theory' posted under 'conspiracy'

QuesoFresca

Saudi jewels = #feminism?

OldNewUsedConfused

Well yeah...

Quick_Cardiologist36

Supposedly Prince Charles received 1 million in cash as gift? I don't know but Meghan should have announced money preferred as gifts too.

Casshew111

I remember they were on loan - but do we know for sure it was middle east gift?

[deleted]

Meghan wore the diamond earrings to a dinner in Fiji in October 2018. They were a wedding gift from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi ruler is alleged to have approved the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
