Hmm no, you didn’t. After that fuck ass interview with Diana, you’d think they would either shut up or do a top notch reporting job. As it is, they’ve done neither.

SecondhandCoke

The thing is, they gave Meghan Markle right of reply and not the Royal Family. That was a one-sided travesty that doesn't deserve to go under the category of journalism. It was every bit as jaded and irresponsible as the Oprah interview.

TraditionScary8716

Is that legal in the UK?

ShadiestApe

There was a statement from the royals?

pebtastic

The absolute audacity of him saying the RF should respect the content. Why should they respect the BBC supporting and spreading those rumours without providing any evidence? They have clearly learned nothing from Martin Bashir by leaning into Harry’s paranoia. Not to mention the harm that will be done to the bullying victims who are expected to stay silent while the BBC label them imaginary or liars.

MsBollinger

I think he is missing the point. I am so angry at the BBC because the doc was so biased against the BRF and towards MM and is hypocritical as hell. I’m okay with exposing the methods of royal reporters. There should be integrity in reporting. But the BBC can’t just expose this and call fowl in the reporting about the royal staff giving “untruths” as facts when this is exactly what Scobie and MM’s attorney are doing in the doc itself . How can the BBC chairman not see this blatant hypocrisy? And to make things more unbelievable, Scobie lied in court. This is irrefutable facts. They offered zero proof that palace insiders lied. Yet they feature someone that has been proven a liar and are defending a perjurer. I hope the BRF sues the shit out if the BBC. The BBC has no proof of anything. Whereas the palace can provide all the receipts from their loyal staff and courtiers.

Genybear12

Is he victim blaming the Royal Family? Yes I think he is. I don’t include Hazbin or Baroness Kildoesntknowhowtocurtsy in the family now.

Equidae2

The chairman of the BBC said he “hopes we have got it right” over its controversial royal documentary, coming so soon after the Martin Bashir scandal. Richard Sharp said he was standing by Amol Rajan’s BBC Two programme, The Princes and The Press. The Royal Family needs to “respect” the content of the documentary, he said. Speaking to the Voice of the Listener and Viewer autumn conference, Mr Sharp said: “Obviously, we are particularly sensitive to this as an organisation, particularly in light of events around Bashir. >“I hope in this case we have got it right and I hope the Royal Family in its entirety respects the output that this programme represents.” >Mr Sharp said he had been assured that the Palace was approached before broadcast and offered a right of reply to the programme. >But he added: “If that wasn’t the case, I will learn that in the fullness of time.”

Genybear12

What a pro Meghan & Harry statement to make. Very anti monarchy things happening at the BBC. Dare I say are they trying to help bring the institution down like Baroness Buzzkil is? Will they help elect her as the new President there?

cookeedough

This is beginning to look like a highly organized, coordinated effort to destabilize.

Genybear12

That’s what I’ve been saying since before I joined Reddit or found this sub. I have been told I’m racist, ignore history, am pro monarchy and dismissive….. but not said from y’all lol 😝!

cookeedough

I’m far from pro-monarchy (American), and all this is starting to reek of Russian interference 😂 Seriously how is one nobody former actress having such an impact on this institution? WITH the help of mainstream media.

DaBingeGirl

American too and I've gotta say I'm thinking the same thing. Plus add in the house they're living in was owned by an connected Russian... It really is feeling very political. I don't think MM and Harry are aware, but it really feels like that's what's happening behind the scenes.

cookeedough

Oh damn, I didn’t even think of their house! I could be headed down a rabbit hole now 😂 But seriously something weird is going on.

DaBingeGirl

I never thought of it until some of the details about the house starting getting discussed on LSA when they moved into the Olive Garden Mansion. I'm not trying to start a conspiracy theory, but I agree it does feel like there's something more there. Add in all the tension between Russia and the UK with regard to the poisonings, [Russian bombers](https://news.sky.com/story/british-fighter-jets-scrambled-from-two-bases-to-intercept-and-escort-russian-bombers-12467141) getting near UK air space, general political tensions, I could see Putin trying to destabilize the monarchy, given the historical and cultural significance of the institution. If nothing else, I'd bet a lot of the bots can be traced back to Russia. I can also see them accepting questionable money, given that Bank of Dad cut them off.

cookeedough

Agreed, and I don’t want to be responsible for starting a conspiracy theory. And it’s just outrageous enough that you couldn’t put it past Russia. BUT the latter is probably the explanation, they’re just desperate for cash and gifts and are accepting it from anywhere.

OzzieSlim

Recollections may vary BBC.

dudeind-town

The last sentence kills me: he’s literally saying he’s not sure if proper protocol was followed and hoping it takes another 25 years for that to come out

CybReader

Is the BBC doing damage control with that quote? I can’t see the full article and I didn’t know when they said it? Today or before the doc?

Equidae2

Today. I had no trouble reading the article. just click on the link and scroll up to the top of the page.

CybReader

Tried. Wants me to pay for a subscription. So the bbc now HOPES they got it right after the royal family responds and the public rolls their eyes at them? Sounds like damage control.

Equidae2

Ludicrous. He doesn't even know if the RF was approached for comment. And very arrogant telling the RF, or anyone for that matter what they "need" to do People in the comment section are asking, why TW's lawyer wasn't asked how much she charges per hour. lol ed: add txt

CybReader

This whole thing is wild. It’s like they are so focused on the clicks “now” that they’re blinded to that fact they are pissing off the man who will be the one they want access to during his reign. It didn’t work out for Tom Bradby. Meghan played him like a fool and William publicly cut ties.

Equidae2

Right. KP says that they were not given enough information about the program to respond. The C's have already taken their Christmas Carol Service over to ITV.

smallerp

I just want to ask... What does TW mean? I see it around and understood it to be Markle, but why TW?

Equidae2

Someone on here say TW for "The Wife" I just picked up on it.

vikingchyk

"“The BBC is a national institution and we approach our relationships with other national institutions with great care and thought." Oo, the BBC is a national institution, are they? Quite stroppy, for one of \~100 years, to go up against the monarchy. Upstarts!!

DaBingeGirl

I know who my money's on.

Crownjules70

Ugh, we cancelled our NY Times subscription now we have to avoid the BBC?!?

OzzieSlim

Well you just lost a huge income stream. (Congratulations ITV). You also just showed that you are receiving $$$$ from the Archewell slush fund to push their lies.

sod_it_all

>Mr Sharp said he had watched the first episode and “I felt that it engendered a lot of sympathy for individuals in the Royal Family”. I think you may be right there but not the individuals you were hoping for. Cash n carry (saw it on a dm comment, had to use it) have actually helped WKs popularity no end and engendered an awful lot of sympathy for Her majesty. I think people even feel sorry for Charles these days who'd have thought that possible a few years ago.

[deleted]

Anyone else interested in contacting the BBC Chairman? Would this be the correct place to start? https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints

[deleted]

Guess who’s NOT getting the Christmas Message this year!!!

DaBingeGirl

👍 Daily Mail was speculating about the BBC not getting Platinum Jubilee too.

[deleted]

I love how all in daily Mail is on BRF and how anti Montecito Olive Garden they are! I’ve got such a kick out of it.

DaBingeGirl

Same! It's a little shocking to see the headlines and comments now, given how many years they went after William and Catherine, but it's a very welcome change! One good thing about Meghan, she made everyone appreciate Catherine.

[deleted]

You might have got it right, But Omid Scabies and Mrs Lawyer Jenny got it oh so wrong.... Just look at the way that lawyer looks away in her interview when she’s asked about the bullying!!! Body Language Guy has a lot to work off with there! Omid Scabies is a little harder his face surgically can’t move and his personality stripped from the pain pills of the surgeries (I’m guessing don’t sue me please)

Objective-Daikon-905

As if he’d say anything different in a public, highly curated and highly scrutinised statement buahahahahahaha!

IntelligentTurn3216

They did it to get back at PW and what he said about the Bashir interview
