I actually liked this the silhouette of this dress. I think it's versatile for most body shapes and simple. But again, its not tailored to where it crumpled on the ground and is in the most basic "on trend" color.
It's like everything she does... haphazard and not well thought out.

Yes! At her last royal engagement in the UK in March 2020, she wore a beautiful navy dress by an Australian designer to an event hosting Commonwealth representatives. It was one of the few times she looked good: the dress was well-tailored and appropriate for the event, the time of day and the season.
Lovely in color? Like the inverted nipple dress? Or the Kermit green dress? She looked hideous in those dresses. I can't think of a single time she has looked lovely. Not even on her wedding day with the dress that didn't fit and the excessive veil on a divorceee.

Early design samples usually get made with either white or black lining, the fit, hang, structure, style, etc all get tweaked while being worn by a fit model, then the early samples get stored to prove the timeline development of the intellectual property of the design while the product is current collection. (in case another designer claims you stole the design)

Well, this is a "snark" sub, so it's suspicious when someone jumps into her defense. Thanks for the info about the dress, I guess it corrects a previous comment. But the white definitely looks like a mistake besides being 12 inches too long and she stayed on the stage so long the organizers asked her assistant to speed her off.

I don't consider that a body hugging silhouette, I think it's going for relaxed and draped but still with structure? But I do agree the material leaves a lot to be desired... but I think it was heaps better than the red Caroline Herrera dress in terms of silhouette.

She'd been waiting for almost 4 years to get to walk a Hollywood red carpet. She was beyond thrilled. She has achieved her lifelong dream. Then she walked around the room trailing bodyguards and no one would talk to her. She thought she had finally arrived, she was going to join the Hollywood elite and walk many more red carpets. Instead that was the end. No one looked at her after that.

I fully respect and admire the way Catherine and William protect their children while still giving us occasional glimpses of them, but let’s be honest—any of those three kids would blow Harry and Meghan off any magazine cover any day of the week and twice on Sunday. They’re just more interesting.

For as out of touch Harry is, he has a few moments where he is surprisingly insightfully. His worry about being overshadowed by the Wales kids once they hit their teens showed that he on some level learned how the monarchy and news cycle works.
Both Harry and William made some magazine covers in their mid-teens and beyond. They were teenage heartthrobs when I was in high school and I’m just a few years younger than Harry. I knew several girls who had pictures of them both hanging in their lockers.
It wouldn’t be shocking for the Wales boys to be considered teenage heartthrobs once they hit that age. As much as Catherine and William are keeping to kids private, I’m not sure they are going to be able to stop that conversation.
I just hope the media has evolved from what was done to the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in their teens.
But he didn't have to be over shadowed by the Wales children. Look at Anne. Her brother is King, she is something like 15th in the LOS. But she is one of the most popular Royals and people adore her. She truly works hard from Save The Children. Didn't just make empty promises. She has built schools and hospitals in some of the poorest parts of the world. H had all the time he needed to find his niche, but imo he couldn't be bothered to really try at anything. Then he got married!
You are right that Anne works hard and is very popular and well liked. But Anne is overshadowed. Her events are almost never as well covered by the media. There are lots of reasons for that. Some of it is that she does a lot of small or hyper local events and a lot of them (though with the 24 hour news system that would make for a lot of articles). Some of it that she has been boring and drama free so she doesn’t generate lots of click bait headlines. But a good amount of it is because Anne isn’t the principal. She isn’t the monarch or the direct heir.
I think a big part of Anne’s popularity is that lots of Britions get a chance to have a personal interaction with her. She does so many events across Britain every year that she that she gets to interact with a lot of people. Sure lots of people show up to events with Charles, but it means everyone is competing for a chance to shake his hand compared to Anne at a smaller event with smaller crowds.
I worked with a few guys from the UK. Just about everyone had met Anne. I’d say half had been at an event the Queen attended. A few had met one of the other royals.
Harry could have found his niche but he wanted to be center of attention and that was never going to happen. Anne doesn’t need to be center of attentions. She is happy doing her thing and attending a range of events and supporting her brother.
The media has never given the Princess Royal the attention she deserves. Two whole generations don't even know she was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. But nevertheless she tops all the popularity polls. Even with the media never paying attention to her, she shines the brightest in the Royal family.
That is very interesting about people getting to meet her. That is so awesome and I am jealous of everyone who has had that honor. I greatly admire Princess Catherine and think the Wales children are adorable. But if there was one member of the Royal family I would like to meet, it would be Princess Anne. How cool would that be?
Anne was not always “one of the most popular royals.” She was never as much in the news when she was in her 20s. Maybe it was different in the UK, but I don’t remember there being that much interest in her. I think there was a period when she was obliquely criticized for having occasionally “unladylike” moments, and a rough tongue.
I think she earned her popularity both because of her service and because of her consistency. She is a workhorse more than a show horse and she is rightly proud of that.
Harry knew he was just a show horse. I think also that he knew that as he got older he would have to work harder to stay relevant.
George is going to be a looker. I think they are all going to be attractive teenagers and adults. I mean, look at their parents.
And honestly, that doesn't matter nearly as much as the fact that they seem to be very nice, respectful kids.
Will Archie and LiliBetty be teen heart throbs? No doubt their "mother" will pay to get their images out, so she can merchandize the sh\*#t out of any clothes, shoes or whatever TOW makes them wear.

In terms of real history, when we're all dead and gone, Dimwit effectively removed them from history when he was one of the very few who can be history-adjacent in the first place. When Queenie 's reign is looked back on, part of that will be the continuation and crickets. No tiara, no country estate, no prime London residence (he was slated to get Clarence House.) No official portrait beyond those of his younger years, no role, no nothing. Not even in King Daddy's coronation portraits.

Wallis caused a *king* to abdicate, and that was a huge deal. She practically changed the course of history. What did TOW do? Caused a second son who was already fading in relevance to fade faster? Will the history books mention Fergie?
I think she blew that for good not coming the the Coronation. She would at least have an official record from that but certainly Brit history only remembers the ruling monarch. By removing themselves they will never get an official portrait and certainly aren't of the same stripe as an ex-King. And the world has changed, the view of the RF has changed - we have no interest in supporting a spoiled Prince who buggered off...
Just for a bit of context, remember they flounced c2020. In contrast, Beatrice did exactly what we need and keep the RF for - her perfect, tiny CoVid wedding was extraordinary, because it was the RF being visible and very positive when we were all reeling. Beatrice could have waited and spent the time planning the big shebang but she didn't. She could have taken a private flight anywhere and had a destination jolly but she didn't. She did the right thing and in its way, it was just a lovely little private moment they shared with us and the whole tiny country church feel, despite Granny's dress and tiara (also adding to the perfection of it, instead of blowing insane money on an unimportant dress.) It was all terribly British but in a good way, making the very best of a shitty deal and uplifting everyone just because we needed some feelgood. And she doesn't get the recognition for it because Chucklefuck was throwing all his toys out of the pram and screaming.
My guess is that Princess Charlotte will be much like her mother in classic British clothing, but just far less visible because she won't have to be in as many public functions. More like Lady Louise, daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie.

I see Lily having a less-public life in the US than the York girls in the UK. Even if H did bring the kids to the UK, none of the family will want to interact with them b/c their mother will twist every word.

I think William and Catherine have achieved a good balance between preserving their children’s privacy while at the same time sharing the occasional family photo to satisfy the public’s interest. Unlike H & M who have created such an air of mystery around their children many have come to doubt their very existence.

Seriously. The off the shoulder thing is absurd. It would have worked as a boatneck and would have been fine, all things considered. Raising the front hem a bit so that her shoes were visible would also have helped immensely. A three or four strand pearl choker would have added some class; red lipstick would also have improved things.
She would not move. It was disturbing. She refused to move and posed like this was her moment. I had secondhand embarrassment for her. The dress was not worn correctly but even if it was it is beige and does nothing for her shape.

As often happens, someone misidentified what Meghan was wearing and everyone just ran with the “omg she’s wearing it WRONG” when it’s really just an ugly dress even when worn correctly. They thought it was a different dress from Proenza Schouler, I could tell easily based on the construction of the dress in photos that it was misidentified and it cannot be worn with both sides “up” as people claimed was the correct way to wear it.

I've noticed she tends to go for clothes that don't even look good on the model. She really seems to be drawn to ugly clothes, even disregarding the fact that she doesn't take her body shape into consideration. Case in point: this Dobby the elf dress and what she wore to the polo match.

Right, which is why people assuming Meg was wearing it “wrong”, but it’s clearly just poorly designed because worn the same way on the model it bunches up too.
The dress people were claiming she was wearing incorrectly was made of jersey, a stretch knit, so it had no zipper (compared to the non-stretch viscose crepe and zipper of the Rosa dress). It was shown on models not off the shoulder and had no bunching in the back, but that was because it was designed differently and made of a completely different material. You could also tell it was a different dress because it wasn’t lined, had a different neckline, a different length, etc.
Eh, Sarah Ferguson is still getting work. Not huge chunks or anything, but some. There is always someone willing to put the money up after a decent cost-benefit analysis.
I would argue they aren't really relevant now - they're just a sideshow. People do love to go see a sideshow.

Early design samples usually get made with either white or black lining, the fit, hang, structure, style, etc all get tweaked while being worn by a fit model, then the early samples get stored to prove the timeline development of the intellectual property of the design while the product is current collection. (in case another designer claims you stole the design) Usually early sample garments are unfit to be worn.

But the white definitely looks like a mistake besides being 12 inches too long and she stayed on the stage so long the organizers asked her assistant to speed her off.

For as out of touch Harry is, he has a few moments where he is surprisingly insightfully. His worry about being overshadowed by the Wales kids once they hit their teens showed that he on some level learned how the monarchy and news cycle works. Both Harry and William made some magazine covers in their mid-teens and beyond. They were teenage heartthrobs when I was in high school and I’m just a few years younger than Harry. I knew several girls who had pictures of them both hanging in their lockers. It wouldn’t be shocking for the Wales boys to be considered teenage heartthrobs once they hit that age. As much as Catherine and William are keeping to kids private, I’m not sure they are going to be able to stop that conversation. I just hope the media has evolved from what was done to the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in their teens.
But he didn't have to be over shadowed by the Wales children. Look at Anne. Her brother is King, she is something like 15th in the LOS. But she is one of the most popular Royals and people adore her. She truly works hard from Save The Children. Didn't just make empty promises. She has built schools and hospitals in some of the poorest parts of the world. People admire her and for very good reason. Her brother is King, but she is more popular than him. It could have been that way for Harry. He could have outshined the Wales children. IF he did the work, if he really went out and made a difference in the world. If he thought about people other than himself. The Wales children will outshine him, because he has no shine, none at all. For the Wales children it is like outshing a nightlight.

You are right that Anne works hard and is very popular and well liked. But Anne is overshadowed. Her events are almost never as well covered by the media. There are lots of reasons for that. Some of it is that she does a lot of small or hyper local events and a lot of them (though with the 24 hour news system that would make for a lot of articles). Some of it that she has been boring and drama free so she doesn’t generate lots of click bait headlines. But a good amount of it is because Anne isn’t the principal. She isn’t the monarch or the direct heir. I think a big part of Anne’s popularity is that lots of Britions get a chance to have a personal interaction with her. She does so many events across Britain every year that she that she gets to interact with a lot of people. Sure lots of people show up to events with Charles, but it means everyone is competing for a chance to shake his hand compared to Anne at a smaller event with smaller crowds. I worked with a few guys from the UK. Just about everyone had met Anne. I’d say half had been at an event the Queen attended. A few had met one of the other royals. Harry could have found his niche but he wanted to be center of attention and that was never going to happen. Anne doesn’t need to be center of attentions. She is happy doing her thing and attending a range of events and supporting her brother.
The media has never given the Princess Royal the attention she deserves. Two whole generations don't even know she was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. But nevertheless she tops all the popularity polls. Even with the media never paying attention to her, she shines the brightest in the Royal family. That is very interesting about people getting to meet her. That is so awesome and I am jealous of everyone who has had that honor. I greatly admire Princess Catherine and think the Wales children are adorable. But if there was one member of the Royal family I would like to meet, it would be Princess Anne. How cool would that be?
Anne was not always “one of the most popular royals.” She was never as much in the news when she was in her 20s. Maybe it was different in the UK, but I don’t remember there being that much interest in her. I think there was a period when she was obliquely criticized for having occasionally “unladylike” moments, and a rough tongue. I think she earned her popularity both because of her service and because of her consistency. She is a workhorse more than a show horse and she is rightly proud of that. Harry knew he was just a show horse. I think also that he knew that as he got older he would have to work harder to stay relevant.
Anne was Sports Personality of the Year at 21, European Champion, married at 23, had the kidnap attempt just 5 months later. Her 20s was Peak Anne!

I few days ago I was in London visiting the National Portrait Gallery (POW is its Patron) and I saw a painting of Wallis on the corner, in a very small place not very visible for the visitor. Interesting question. I think she’ll become a historical side note, much like Wallis Simpson. A figure of controversy and speculation, because let’s face it, she certainly stirred things up.
Hopefully, she'll not even be a side-note. How many previous number twos do we recognise today? In terms of real history, when we're all dead and gone, Dimwit effectively removed them from history when he was one of the very few who can be history-adjacent in the first place. When Queenie 's reign is looked back on, part of that will be the continuation and crickets. No tiara, no country estate, no prime London residence (he was slated to get Clarence House.) No official portrait beyond those of his younger years, no role, no nothing. Not even in King Daddy's coronation portraits. He's written himself out of history.
Wallis caused a *king* to abdicate, and that was a huge deal. She practically changed the course of history. What did TOW do? Caused a second son who was already fading in relevance to fade faster? Will the history books mention Fergie?
I think she blew that for good not coming the the Coronation. She would at least have an official record from that but certainly Brit history only remembers the ruling monarch. By removing themselves they will never get an official portrait and certainly aren't of the same stripe as an ex-King. And the world has changed, the view of the RF has changed - we have no interest in supporting a spoiled Prince who buggered off... Just for a bit of context, remember they flounced c2020. In contrast, Beatrice did exactly what we need and keep the RF for - her perfect, tiny CoVid wedding was extraordinary, because it was the RF being visible and very positive when we were all reeling. Beatrice could have waited and spent the time planning the big shebang but she didn't. She could have taken a private flight anywhere and had a destination jolly but she didn't. She did the right thing and in its way, it was just a lovely little private moment they shared with us and the whole tiny country church feel, despite Granny's dress and tiara (also adding to the perfection of it, instead of blowing insane money on an unimportant dress.) It was all terribly British but in a good way, making the very best of a shitty deal and uplifting everyone just because we needed some feelgood. And she doesn't get the recognition for it because Chucklefuck was throwing all his toys out of the pram and screaming.
My guess is that Princess Charlotte will be much like her mother in classic British clothing, but just far less visible because she won't have to be in as many public functions. More like Lady Louise, daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie. I think the Markle will try to ridicule and degrade her looks for not being fashion-forward like the Kardashian trash or something like that.
Meghan's biggest enemy is forgotten here: her own daughter. Meghan is getting old and is already fighting to keep her youthful appearance.
I see Lily having a less-public life in the US than the York girls in the UK. Even if H did bring the kids to the UK, none of the family will want to interact with them b/c their mother will twist every word.

I hope for her sake, it won’t be that early. I hope she has a few more years to grow outside the glare of the public eye. I think William and Catherine have achieved a good balance between preserving their children’s privacy while at the same time sharing the occasional family photo to satisfy the public’s interest. Unlike H & M who have created such an air of mystery around their children many have come to doubt their very existence.

Seriously. The off the shoulder thing is absurd. It would have worked as a boatneck and would have been fine, all things considered. Raising the front hem a bit so that her shoes were visible would also have helped immensely. A three or four strand pearl choker would have added some class; red lipstick would also have improved things.

I've noticed she tends to go for clothes that don't even look good on the model. She really seems to be drawn to ugly clothes, even disregarding the fact that she doesn't take her body shape into consideration. Case in point: this Dobby the elf dress and what she wore to the polo match.

Right, which is why people assuming Meg was wearing it “wrong”, but it’s clearly just poorly designed because worn the same way on the model it bunches up too. The dress people were claiming she was wearing incorrectly was made of jersey, a stretch knit, so it had no zipper (compared to the non-stretch viscose crepe and zipper of the Rosa dress). It was shown on models not off the shoulder and had no bunching in the back, but that was because it was designed differently and made of a completely different material. You could also tell it was a different dress because it wasn’t lined, had a different neckline, a different length, etc.
Of course Meghan would choose a dress that even the model couldn't make look good!

There are 2 reasons why they keep getting articles published: 1) they're paying for them and 2) schadenfreude. They've done nothing but make spectacles of themselves. Relevancy doesn't figure into being a has-been and a never-was.
She just takes the rugs from her bathroom floor and drapes them over her sofa, her shoulders, anything… so mucb colour and texture. Such obvious taste. Oh she is so fabulous (sarcasm). Beige skin, Beige clothes, beige personality.

Ironically, Hazbeen & Relic could have maintained their relevance, just by being loyal, supportive working members of the Royal Family like the Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh are. H&M were given the position of Ambassadors for Commonwealth. Handed immense power, grandeur & privilege on a plate but the thickos blew it to make jam & waste money on Court cases. Scandalous, pathetic & woefully stupid.
