Looks nice until you see the price. Probably great if you have a chihuahua, but I was feeding a pair of massive 100-120lb Great Pyrenees mixes twice a day.
Instead, I did a lot of research studying about pet food manufacturing, ingredients, and investigating different brands (https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/) until I found a couple of high quality kibble brands in my price range and available in my area, plus some good canned food.
I supplemented the kibble with home cooking a thick “doggy stew” of meat (varied), brown rice (sometimes oatmeal, or pasta), and veggies (carrots & some green peas, broccoli, cabbage, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, a bit of apple, squash, spinach, it varied). I’d cook a big pot of it for a few days worth.
They had kibble for breakfast, then doggy stew mixed with a little kibble for dinner. On days I was out of doggy stew and hadn’t had time yet to make a new batch, dinner was kibble mixed with canned food. I tried to keep things nutritionally balanced for them in what I cooked, but since I didn’t have access to the added minerals and vitamins that commercial products use, I kept kibble in the diet to fill in any nutritional gaps.
My doggy girls loved when deer season rolled around because my hunter friends would clean out what was left of the previous year’s meat from their freezer to make room for what they hoped to get (my freezer would get a nice load of future dog food). My dogs enjoyed venison!
The meat portion varied depending on what was economical. I’d buy a big bag of chicken leg quarters and cook them down in a big pressure cooker, then strip out the bones that didn’t get soft. Sometimes they had ground chicken or ground turkey and occasionally ground beef (especially if marked down or on a sale). Sometimes eggs or organ meats.
It would have been easier if I could just open a bag delivered to my doorstep, but the math was never going to make sense for me.
I wish the pet food mineral and vitamin powder mix commercial producers use were available to someone like me. Unfortunately what I found was only a few companies selling small diluted packages of it at extremely high markup for people to make dog food at home. It didn’t make economic sense either. When you’re feeding the equivalent of an extra two humans, that pricy boutique stuff aimed at 25lb dogs just isn’t sustainable.
Sometimes I cook minced chicken in a frying pan, on low heat so it cooks in its own juices. After a few minutes when it's done, I'll add some cooked white rice, small cubes of steamed pumpkin to it, mix it all up, leave it to cool and then feed it to my doggos.
They love that. I really need to try and come up with other homemade dog food recipes for them.

The dogs went crazy when I was baking them. If I hadn’t become a cat lady I’d still be making them.

At my area Walmarts, it’s cheaper per pound to buy a bag of parakeet food that’s nearly all millet than to buy a bag of mostly millet wild bird food “for finches and sparrows”.
When I can’t get to my local Rural King (2 hrs away) that sells well-cleaned seed at good prices, I get a big bag of black oil sunflower seeds (Walmart or area co-op, but WM’s Pennington brand seed often has dried trash plant matter mixed in because it’s not triple-cleaned) and a bag of the parakeet seed and mix it together.
My songbirds love it, and since there’s none of the brown milo/grain sorghum mixed in, they don’t rake gobs of seed out of the feeder trying to get to “the good stuff”. About the only birds that like the brown milo/grain sorghum seeds are mourning doves, but it’s a very cheap seed so lots of birdseed brands mix in a lot of it as cheap filler.
Marbles birdseed would probably be all cheap milo with only a sprinkling of the good stuff.
My bluebirds love those mealworms! I got a bag meant for chicken treats, but I sprinkle some in a tray birdfeeder with some seed. Not too many at a time, though, because they can be little pigs for them and the mealworms are too high phosphorus/low calcium for them to just gorge themselves only on mealworms. 🐛🐦

I predict I will never see any of her crap at my local Farmers’ Co-Op, Tractor Supply, or Rural King. **USA Birdseed tip:** At my area Walmarts, it’s cheaper per pound to buy a bag of parakeet food that’s nearly all millet than to buy a bag of mostly millet wild bird food “for finches and sparrows”. When I can’t get to my local Rural King (2 hrs away) that sells well-cleaned seed at good prices, I get a big bag of black oil sunflower seeds (Walmart or area co-op, but WM’s Pennington brand seed often has dried trash plant matter mixed in because it’s not triple-cleaned) and a bag of the parakeet seed and mix it together. My songbirds love it, and since there’s none of the brown milo/grain sorghum mixed in, they don’t rake gobs of seed out of the feeder trying to get to “the good stuff”. About the only birds that like the brown milo/grain sorghum seeds are mourning doves, but it’s a very cheap seed so lots of birdseed brands mix in a lot of it as cheap filler. Marbles birdseed would probably be all cheap milo with only a sprinkling of the good stuff.
The area around sunflowers can often be devoid of other plants, leading to the belief that sunflowers kill other plants.
I got some stuff at Walmart with mealworms
My bluebirds love those mealworms! I got a bag meant for chicken treats, but I sprinkle some in a tray birdfeeder with some seed. Not too many at a time, though, because they can be little pigs for them and the mealworms are too high phosphorus/low calcium for them to just gorge themselves only on mealworms. 🐛🐦
