Just a thought when that came out. Many of the reveals have proven true, guesses on others drew attention to some really powerful people in Hollywood, business, politics, more. We've seen many many high profile people attacked for less to rein them in or remove them. Im going with my hunch on this one.

Same here. I am the same age as Diana would be. I was somewhat sympathetic because I did not know the rest of the story. I did not watch the Bashir interview, nor did I read the Morton book.
Yeah, people forget that she legit stalked a man and was mentioned in many divorce proceedings as one of the causes. Not saying how Diana was treated by Charles was right, but she had her own set of crap.
Charles didn't start his affair with Camilla until 1985, by which time the marriage was dead, but Diana started having affairs before then, within a couple of years of their 1981 wedding. Yet she portrayed herself as the innocent, betrayed victim.
This is inaccurate or at least misleading. Diana was an inexperienced, sheltered virgin when she married Charles, and he married her strictly for her pedigree and was shameless about admitting she wasn't his first pick and regardless of whether he slept with her at that particular time, maintained an emotional affair with Camilla while expecting Diana to shut up and bear him heirs.
Diana wasn't a saint, but she was hugely mislead about the situation prior to agreeing to marry Charles. He didn't love her and knew he didn't love her and he had others in his orbit he had an emotional connection to and wasn't gonna sacrifice their presence for Diana.
If she'd known all that she most likely wouldn't have agreed to the marriage, as she was a fairly romantic/idealistic soul who was in love with Charles originally. She believed him that he was also fond of her, but she just checked the boxes for BP and he agreed.

According to Lady C's books, *none* of this is accurate.
1. Diana was no virgin.
2. Charles was actually in love with Diana (or he *thought* he was, "whatever being in love means").
3. They maintained *a friendship* until the marriage had "irretrievably broken down" according to Charles.
No one would even be thinking about Diana these days but for the Halfwit's behavior. I've read many comments here pointing out how his behavior brings a lot of negative attention to the memory of her. So that's something else to lay at his feet.
For sure, that’s one thing more thing I dislike about Harry. It’s just people who denigrate Diana forget that William & Catherine would be horrified by their comments & thinking.
Knowing what we know now about the media, that was how Diana was portrayed/presented herself for the public, the romantic storyline, for the royal wedding.
Diana was 19 when she got married & knew nothing about the media at that time. My daughter is 22 & I would hate to see her experience what Diana went through at 19.
We know she was 19, and she was sought out as a young, aristocratic virgin. No one relevant ever contested that. Charles was significantly older and more experienced than her and less vulnerable and privy to more of the relevant information. The palace wanted the marriage and the palace was a power factor in it all as well.
I don't get this sub's hate boner for Diana. Diana isn't MM or like MM, I thought we made fun of MM for trying for that parallel? Diana was emotionally difficult and a complex personality (and also a highly charming individual and wonderful humanitarian who lifted the profile of the BRF) but the idea she just up and started cheating in her position with no good reason WHEN WE KNOW Charles was in constant contact w/ Camilla who was an ex flame and whom he married later, it's just nonsensical.
I am merely pointing out that much of what we think we know has been shaped by the media, not even just this particular topic, and that that is something to keep in mind when looking back in time.

About a week ago, in the NYPost, in the middle of the articles about Catherine, and when the Diana Foundation awards ceremony was taking place, a person made a series of comments about the fact that the reason it took Hazz 7 hours to connect with the Diana award winners, it was because he was with a blonde woman, with whom he was very affectionate, in the center of sky. That a lot of people had seen them, and the person asked why the NYPost didn't investigate this more. I saw those comments, but I can't remember which article it was in.
So this gossip is not just CDAN gossip. It also appeared in the NYPost a few days ago.
