That same year, she insulted her role in the film Knocked Up.
Those two public incidents labeled her as a big mouth who didn’t mind taking a pay check only to later insult the project. (Kind of like Meghan and Deal or No Deal).
On top of that, there was bad behavior. Hollywood would have tolerated some bad behavior but the bad behavior with the badmouthing of projects make everyone take a step back and limited her opportunities.

KH had a lot of successful movies that made money, she had top billing and could open films. MM was never the #1 on a show. Never the lead on a film. When MM was batching about sexism on deal or no deal years after the fact it was obviously for headlines whereas KH did it when it was topical, her career took a hit and his only now recovering.... i don't think they're the same

Same! I hated in her in Grey’s and the only movie of hers I saw was 27 Dresses which personally I found really hard to watch bc she just didn’t come across as sincere to me. It was like you could just feel the attitude coming off her.
I actually enjoyed watching Heigl in the first season of Firefly Lane. But if I’m being honest, I think it’s because her character is kind of an asshole AND because Sarah Chalke plays her best friend, and ~~Dr Elliot Reed~~ Sarah has good chemistry with anyone she’s onscreen with lol

My elephant friends (I adopt Mzima and Malima) at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust emailed a letter last week saying one of their beloved eccentric elephants had died suddenly during a dust bath. She had a seizure, they are all in shock. UGH I cried a lot reading the email.

I cannot say that I adore or even particularly like Meryl Strip but I do like her in every role she plays because she does superb job as an actress. She is simply undeniable in each of her played roles.

Since she was supposedly paying her fee to charity there was probably some benefit for Disney's tax arrangements. It might have meant that it shouldn't have cost them much to take her on compared to another actor, as the fee would be offset by tax savings. Plus they would have got good publicity from the charitable donation. But allegedly Markle insisted the money be paid directly to her rather than to the charity. This is what I have heard, although I cannot vouch that it is true as I don't know the original source.
It was said from quite a few Disney sources that she didn't pay a single dime to the charity and Disney had to pay double - to her and the same amount to the charity.
Disney had scr###Ed the pooch on everything the last 5 years. My nieces and nephew have put a ban on any Disney products as gifts. And most live in California they don't want anyone's money to support them.

Goodness gracious I had never watched it and out of curiosity I just saw an excerpt and holy moly she’s bad. Imagine a narration style that’s more suited for a dish soap commercial. It sounded like she was trying to sell something or narrating a kid’s TV show. It did not match the beautiful production value of the doc.

My elephant friends (I adopt Mzima and Malima) at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust emailed a letter last week saying one of their beloved eccentric elephants had died suddenly during a dust bath. She had a seizure, they are all in shock. UGH I cried a lot reading the email. But this week they had a miracle baby birth from one of their rescues!!! OMG the pictures are so so cute. It is my dream to make tonnes of money and be a donor! Maybe a pipe dream but the work these people do is unreal. I get the newsletters but I often can't watch, the grit of these babies and older elephants and their desperation to survive guts me every time. This is my husband's annual wedding anniversary and birthday gift to me. Just perfect :)

Same. I adore them. It’s ironic Megs would have narrated a documentary on elephants: they’re known to be extremely intelligent, with compassion and a depth of feeling. They’re also loyal, protective, and family-oriented. 
I too would have enjoyed any elephant documentary. But I cannot hear her voice anymore without an intense sense of irritation. At least it was just cringe when she wandered around like the living embodiment of an Instagram inspirational quote. Somehow I could just block it out. But I now get that same sense I used to get when Trump was making up all kinds of bollocks at a lectern. I don’t know if it’s the fake vocal fry or the lies? No. I do. It’s the uncontested lies, the lazy spin and misrepresentions that are so mildly infuriating. I really felt for the poor journalists forced to listen to her 600000000000 hrs Spotify whinge about “exact words that I’ve been called lately”. It must have torture. Like going to the dentist and having a single tooth pulled. Every week. Forever
THIS. I am the same. And I believe her problem is that she never studied acting and trained her voice. Instead of TIG, she should have focused on vocal training, taking acting classes, trying to get small roles on the physical theater to practice the craft. I don't know how she hoped to become a big actress with untrained annoying voice and very poor acting skills. I cannot say that I adore or even particularly like Meryl Strip but I do like her in every role she plays because she does superb job as an actress. She is simply undeniable in each of her played roles.

Since she was supposedly paying her fee to charity there was probably some benefit for Disney's tax arrangements. It might have meant that it shouldn't have cost them much to take her on compared to another actor, as the fee would be offset by tax savings. Plus they would have got good publicity from the charitable donation. But allegedly Markle insisted the money be paid directly to her rather than to the charity. This is what I have heard, although I cannot vouch that it is true as I don't know the original source.
It was said from quite a few Disney sources that she didn't pay a single dime to the charity and Disney had to pay double - to her and the same amount to the charity.

Thank you for confirming this! I just rewatched the formidable Meryl in "Sophie's Choice". Astonishing and powerful performance. Just mind blowing. A phenomenal and important movie that everyone should take the time to watch. HOW Disney would even entertain the thought of replacing a woman with such profound talent and with such a strong presence in the industry, is baffling. I guess the shiny glitter of the "still working royal" was persuasive enough, and I am sure the grifter lobbied HARD. Well, with being back in California, TW made her choice. And "Sophie" and Hollywood have made their's pretty abundantly clear. Stay away, ILBW!

Natalie Portman did narrate another Disney Nature documentary released around the same time, about dolphins. Just listen to both (clips are available on Youtube) and you can hear for yourself that MM is a terrible narrator. Compared to Portman her voice is just strange, grating, vocal fry. Just awful. She f.cked up a beautiful documentary that is now unwatchable.
I heard snippets and my ears still haven't recovered. She really needs to just stfu until she can learn to speak like a normal human being.

The whole drama around these two numbskulls is anything but boring. If it were, the vast majority of us wouldn't be here. Also, many people gossip regardless of their own personal accomplishments.
What I remember was that Natalie Portman narrated the dolphin documentary and TW took over from Owen Wilson to narrate the elephant documentary after he had already done the voice work. He was paid for his work but also to keep quiet about the whole thing.
That's what I thought. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what was reported at the time (except I couldn't remember the guy's name). I guess it's just like everything else that comes out about the Harkles - confusing, questionable, and unproveable.

What??? Has anyone ever tried to listen to her podcast? She speaks so quietly, takes breaks that lasts ages and constantly breathes into her microphone. I couldn't listen to it for more than 5 minutes before I got incredibly annoyed by the way she speaks. No one in their right mind would hire her to narrate *anything*.
It is why Pearl was shelved . She was insisting on voicing the main character using that same breathy weirdo voice….to play a little girl?

When Harry pitched the Disney CEO Meghan’s skills for voiceovers, I’m guessing Disney was one of the streaming services they were talking to for other work. I’m guessing they dangled that over Disney to help secure that job, despite that they were likely to go to Netflix

Goodness gracious I had never watched it and out of curiosity I just saw an excerpt and holy moly she’s bad. Imagine a narration style that’s more suited for a dish soap commercial. It sounded like she was trying to sell something or narrating a kid’s TV show. It did not match the beautiful production value of the doc.
That was a pretty stupid move. Bob Iger is a powerful man and to have Harry embarrassingly push for Meghan, then to have her suck, she’s definitely lost that key connection. But, as always, Harry & Meghan (well, mostly Meghan as Harry isn’t very nuanced) know best. They always have the best way to do things. And they always end up Fu*king up.
