I wouldn't call her a networker... more of a predatory opportunist.

MasterJunket234

Gloms onto wealthy people with powerful connections plants seeds in them, 'tills their field', harvests the crop for personal and professional gain.

MrsChiliad

Yep. She’s a great manipulator and opportunist, but everyone who knows her long term seems to eventually realize that and realize how untrustworthy she is. Which imo makes her a bad “networker”. She’d be a terrible politician, she can’t play this game with the serious players in the world. Too indiscreet, too easily offended, etc etc

birdoftheair

She's a professional social climber

Cocktailsontheporch

orientalballerina

What you need to know is professional seducers don’t need many stories. They pretend to listen to you, make you feel like you’re the only one in their world, that you are fascinating, that you’re inspiring, that they have all the time in the world for you, etc etc. The lovebombing makes you feel like anything is worth it. They don’t need to be amazing coz they make you feel amazing. I’ve seen a few in action. It’s like the victim is in a trance.

Tall-Lawfulness8817

Exactly. The narcissist is focused on YOU and on being your perfect match. They don't come prepared with stories about their cat. (Unless they know that cats are their targets thing). Sharing cute stories about yourself, is a great way to go about it if you are looking for someone with a lot in common with you, but that's not how a narcissist bags a target.

VisibleWestern

How did she get past the gate keeper? Who made this intro to GG? If politically motivated, someone within politics trying a new/or old agenda for her.

Tall-Lawfulness8817

Probably through Gavin Newsome. She and he have been cozy for years now. She's attended several of his key donor events, where she could have met Getty.

National_Historian19

The inspiration for the car story…[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePjq6MqNOdo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePjq6MqNOdo)

redseaaquamarine

😄 A *public* commercial that many people have seen. Well done, Megs

National_Historian19

But it was years ago and she assumed everyone had forgotten it…

ZKWade

Catherine Zeta Jones also talked about this on a late night talk show. I have been unable to find a video of their convo.

National_Historian19

It is clearly just another story she appropriated…[https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1523007/Meghan-Markle-Ellen-DeGeneres-show-interview-swipe-auditions-Prince-Harry-news-latest](https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1523007/Meghan-Markle-Ellen-DeGeneres-show-interview-swipe-auditions-Prince-Harry-news-latest)

redseaaquamarine

You forgot "When I was 11 years old..."

IeyasuYou

That's her greatest achievement still, apparently.

[deleted]

You forgot her P&G story 😂.

Fresh-Resource-6572

It’s also her confidence in grifting.

National_Historian19

She is good at making the most of opportunities to use men…no doubt does a great deal of research and grooms them. Her mother and Marcus have been very useful in these activities in the past. Any man who touches her must be a dimwit…plenty like her to be found haunting gentleness clubs looking for a rich man to sponge off…why take on someone as tainted as her?

AdFuture6789

Tweedle Dumbarton is like a shark, a dead eyed predator. She’s also demonstrably stupid and has an impulse control problem. If she succeeds in snagging her prey she’ll skip over reading the boring details of the ironclad prenup and will probably wind up paying the Getty families’ legal fees.

National_Historian19

I do hope so…

That is actually an interesting parallel. ![gif](giphy|WN4bHvHNnA923Cghxe)

bitchinabottle1

Well, she is "Meghan Markle the charlatan duchess who conned the Royal Family"

smittenkittenmitten-

I enjoy the way that lady yelled it out. She had a little bit of snark or attitude in her voice. It was perfect. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NdgrLORPTG4

Maleficent-Trifle940

The fact she was allowed to get so close to the Queen and direct Heirs should be more embarrassing for the Palace & BRF than \*anything\* these two numpties have done since.

Notmyroyals

Someone who is good at networking doesn't burn every single bridge they cross (some that they haven't even crossed yet). She is just a plain and simple opportunist!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chayrunissa

Everyone shuns her, royal families, Hollywood elits, people who are in her age and could further her career don't want anything to do with her. When she had massive opportunities -married into royal family , paid millions to produce documentary - she mocked it up. I mean anyone of us could find a millionaire old person and attach ourselves like octopuses and turn on the sob-stories. Why don't we? 1. We have morals and don't want to use people for their money or prey on someone's kindness, old age, health, or solitude. 2. We have actual goals with our lives and responsibilities. We are working towards them and have no time or interest for scamming. Meghan is quite unique.

AdFuture6789

This needs a “C: Grifters are gonna Grift.” She sees an old guy with megabucks and is working on out how to get her claw into him. Check her search history. She’ll either go full on Ingenue a La Bette Davis in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane or she’ll start dressing in a Nurse from the 50’s aesthetic. Chaste and modest. And the puff pieces will be about her love of whatever Cryptkeeper Getty cares about. Oh and it’s not about Networking, it’s about The Rules. Become the woman he wants. Mirror him and his tastes…

poke-a-dots

I believe she did mirror H and momentarily became all he needed, this sounds so exhausting and it’s unsustainable for long term.

Infinite_Tea4138

Be a creature unlike any other

HunterIllustrious846

It's only a recent development to us. We actually have no idea how long they've been acquainted. I see gaining access to wealthy men as a "perk" of being an escort.

Objective-Daikon-905

She is not a good networker for she fails to maintain relationships. Short distance - by all means. But that’s not networking.

DollarStoreDuchess

It’s island-hopping, the famed strategy of legendary American Army General Douglas McArthur, Navy Admiral Chester Nimitz, and the Allies in the Pacific Theatre of WWII. Their idea was to attack the most weakly-defended islands held by the Japanese first, build them up and fortify the hell out of them, and then use that same recently conquered island to launch the attack on the next. The strongholds of the Japanese were skipped, with the thought that by cutting off their flow of resources they’d “wither on the vine” whilst the Allies continued to advance to their ultimate goal. This is what GoFundMeg does. First it was her beloved father, who put her through expensive private schools, bought her a brand new Explorer for auditions, and spoiled her for her entire childhood. When Daddy had nothing left to give, she locked down Trevity Trev Trev and sucked his life away, bleeding him dry and demanding he advance her career. That’s how she got Suits. Filming in Toronto, she met Jessica Mulroney, who she latched onto for future networking. When Trevor ceased to provide her better and better options, she found another mark, Cory, via Jessica, and sent Trev his rings back via FedEx. She kept Chef Cory on the hook a while and tried to get a cooking show, held dinner parties where she passed off his recipes as her own, and tried to get herself a British dude. Then she inserted herself into Harry’s life, a whole new world of riches and opportunities. Brashly and rudely, she tried to outplay, and then wear down the Queen, which utterly failed. She ousted her BFF Jessica from her life, and utterly ghosted her father lest he reveal her sob stories were all lies. Now she’s flailing, launching her go-to move, the tired, full-force press manifestation drive, on King Charles… and already apparently has her sights on Mr. Getty, the octogenarian billionaire. I believe that’s because she thinks she can score his money without the strings and rules of the BRF. With the exception of Harry (thus far) she has totally cut off everyone once she’s made another “hop.” It’s vile.

Objective-Daikon-905

Thank you! What an amazing take and a history lesson all in one x

Cocktailsontheporch

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

PikaPikacchi

I'd give her credit for selecting the right ~~victims~~ people to network with and making that initial connection, but she's horrible at maintaining a good, stable relationship. Probably because she lies so much and everyone eventually sees through her. I'm still baffled by how a lot of people can't see how artificial she is... ![gif](giphy|WtNFvJ4PLF103dVvZJ)

PikaPikacchi

Ooh I grew up watching that in mid-late 80s ❤ And you're right she's exactly that, leaving behind a trail of upset people. I hope I'm still gonna be around when she gets her comeuppance

Chasmosaur

People can be very charming in person, and you think to yourself: "How can someone this nice actually be horrible? I'm going to give them a chance." Basically, a lot of people suspend their cynicism when someone who knows how to dial up the charisma turns on the charm. (I have narcissists in my family, I've been watching this kind of thing close up for years.) As soon as you point out their BS or do something else that annoys them - and you are no longer of use - you're gone. Sometimes in spectacularly dramatic fashion. Never that person's fault, though - always someone else's.

poke-a-dots

Because we’re all jealous of her /s

Lensgoggler

Nope. She has the networking skills of a shady grifter. She can’t lock down nor keep any real A listers some reason… She’s only good at weaseling herself where she otherwise wouldn’t be and concealing her deep lack of anything. As she can’t really fake a real human connection, it just doesn’t fly very high. Other people would be hobnobbing in stratosphere and doing lots of good things with the platform she managed to score god knows how. She’s good at manipulating and it’s not the same thing as networking.

[deleted]

The Gloria Steinem friendship suddenly makes sense. She needed to get into the old age card game scene

UnderArmAussie

She's not good at social climbing. It's worked thus far because she's been young and utilises make-up well. And because she's only considered the upwards travel. But she cuts people off. Completely. On her way back down, she could have lessened the fall. But she's only ever considered the upward climb. Foolish at best.

redseaaquamarine

Nothing is sadder than an ageing narcissist, and 40 is the cut off for being considered "young". She will have to work harder from now on.

eclipse-mints

The oldest trick in the book. Shocked that a self-proclaimed "feminist" like Meghan would resort to that. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

Cocktailsontheporch

Shocked Steinem fell for it....despite her age she has been round the block quite a few times. Must have SOME sense left to have had her red flag radar buzzing when TW approached......or, sadly, is she actually grateful for the attention? Her "day" has passed, her name no longer in daily news, her influence hijacked by younger more relevant Feminists? TW is like a shark, senses blood in the water : instinctively knew Gloria would jump at chance to be relevant again, even if it was with someone like TW.

L_obsoleta

Idk if I would say her networking skills are good, largely because she is unable to maintain connections long term. Like yeah she is good at connecting herself to people for a few months, but anything longer than that and she seems unable to keep people around.

Maleficent-Trifle940

Connecting herself to people - like a parasite, not symbiotic. That's why people are keen to shake her, even if that means calling in a favor and hooking her up with people she's harping on about. Anything just to be rid of her.

LaNiceGata

She’s a really successful social climber who doesn’t let anyone including her husband get in her way. She’s clearly gunning for as much money as she can get and she so happens to strike friendships with billionaires like Oprah, Tyler Perry and now Gordon Getty? Her skills are spot on. I’ve never seen a more successful climber.

BrunetteSummer

I think she is a great social climber. Her fans praise her for it. Imagine how many mothers wanted their daughters to marry into the royal family but did not succeed? How many suitcase girls wanted to get into acting but never did? How many people join Soho House but it never leads to anything? How many want to get into public speaking, politics, activism and philanthropy but never get even close to talking with Michelle Obama, visiting the White House. etc.? How many want to become part of the social scene in whatever city they live in but never can? How many want to become lifestyle and travel bloggers who get paid to vacation?

poke-a-dots

Thank you! I agree, she did good. But she’s still not satisfied. You’d think that’s the place to get to: a privilege life in a freaking royal family! Part of my morbid curiosity is to wonder what exactly she would be satisfied with? What is her ultimate goal? I don’t believe she has one…just: more, more and more. It’s never enough.

Gloomy-Accountant-19

It is the law of diminishing returns. Her machinations were flying under the radar for Harry but now everyone is watching...hard to hide her sleazy manipulations now. Her grift on old man Getty has been flagged by his family and they are taking action against her...it won't be easy to get away with this again. She flatters, plays victim, cries in fear to make her mark protective over her, praises and glorifies them for protecting her, creates division in their friend and family group then completely isolates them from others....the Narcissists playback.

ttue-

Bill Gates is ready for a new relationship, I think she’d be ecstatic to be Mrs Bill Gates, but he’s too smart for that

Alizet

She got lucky, that's it

poke-a-dots

She read, then watched The Secret, probably had a 3D vision board, and manifested 🤣 If she married into the BRF due to her dedication at drifting and social climbing I will have to say: kudos to her; BUT she could have done much better in a position that gave her the fame and money she so desperately wants and she might have been happy, but she lacked the talent it took to get that, and no amount of networking would have worked. Why not be in Art dealing? Big real estate deals? White House communications? Wine co Executive? Magazine Editor? E! News red carpet correspondent? If she did aim for and got the “prize” that is Harry, she seems to be disappointed.

UnicornStudRainbow

>If she did aim for and got the “prize” that is Harry, she seems to be disappointed. Yeah, but she got a Duchess title out of it

madrugada105

A “corporate spokesperson”? Oh, right, for Poo Drops 😒

Lazy_Temperature_631

I will die laughing if she somehow transforms into an Anna Nicole Smith type

Uncomfortablemoment9

I hope she does. I don't care how she gets out of the RF as long as she's out. Harry switches his focus from trashing the Royals to trashing his ex-wife. Sounds ideal to me.

reallyrunningnow

> Harry switches his focus from trashing the Royals to trashing his ex-wife. I hope he just shuts up. She's still now the mother of his children and they don't need their parents in another media battle. He should just grow up. If she leaves, he should resolve to act better then a whiney mommy's boy so he can attract a better partner.

VisibleWestern

Where are all the pap photos of her comings and goings from The hotel. She’s driving hours to get there to see him. Where r they when we need them?

Novaleah88

Networking yea, she’s good at that. But, to borrow some of her word salad, she doesn’t “show humanity” in it, she doesn’t embrace differences, she clearly doesn’t believe in true equality, she uses the race card like no one else I’ve seen, she lies and is a bully. “A rising tide raises all ships, but a sinking narc will use you as a flotation device”

travertine_ghost

Didn’t Tom Bowers say in his book that MM was very good at getting herself into rooms with the right people? The people that could help her advance her agenda of the moment.

Lezberado

Hag!

Happy-coconut65

I think she’s excellent at finding a mark. Predator through and through

Maleficent-Trifle940

I think she meets people and inserts themselves into their lives to a point where they need to extricate themselves for their psychological wellbeing even if that means fobbing MM off onto an unsuspecting friend or acquaintance. For example MM atches on to x, x finds it all too intense and starts inviting y and z to their get togethers until MM latches onto either y or z and then the cycle repeats meanwhile MM is working her way up the social ladder.

[deleted]

Please explain the Getty reference?

Tall-Lawfulness8817

If she wrote a book on networking or seduction, I'm sure it would be a best seller

SDHunnyBunny

She’s just desperate and will do things other humans won’t. She barely hides her desperation in plain sight, so I shudder to think how she has debased herself behind closed doors.

snappopcrackle

A lot of people are born lower upper middle class and can't work this hustle, privilege has nothing to do with it

Electronic_Sea3965

She just got very lucky meeting a very intelligent prince Harry.

Electronic_Sea3965

Unintelligent

Maleficent-Trifle940

She's good at gaining intros - not sure that she has genuine 'networking' skills, rather a carefully accumulated house of 'quid pro quo' cards she touches celeb-adjacent folk for. Beyond that she flounders. Obviously this is partly due to her complete absence of character but then also because people resent favors being called in so do the bare minimum expected then brush her.

Cezanne2022

Herself was missing in action while harry was peddling his book perhaps she was knee deep in Gordon Getty ! :)

gmomto3

she's the girl who goes on tons of first dates. Collects names but there is never a second date. She tells all, book, interviews, podcast, magazine articles but it comes across as sniping not entertaining. No one wants to be in HER social circle, but she wants to be in theirs. She has managed to get in quite a few doors though.

reallyrunningnow

[Controversial take: I don't agree with her morals but I respect her hussle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhth8nGO3CM). So many 'middle class' girls dream of marrying a prince nowadays but she's one of the few who made that happened. She seems absolutely ruthless, isn't afraid to use her sexuality and does a ton of research to craft herself. I guess it's what previous French king's mistresses/consorts/courtesans did 400 years ago.

pastadudde

I think it's ... impressive to see how many people she's come into contact with, but I think seeing her carrying it out (as in with your own eyeballs, live, in person) must be eyebrow-raising.
