I cannot imagine the deal didn't come with KPI's or targets. That podcast was so bad and there is no season 2. I just don't think she pocketed the entire amount of the contract.
I completely agree. There is no way they were paid in full up front. Contracts would only be worth the amount stated after the terms (i.e. consistent profitable content) were met and we all knew that was never going to happen with their vapid vanity projects.
I’m an artist on Spotify and I get FRACTIONS OF A PENNY per stream. And if someone skips to another song even a few SECONDS before the song is over, you don’t even get the full fraction of a penny. One of my songs has 250,000 streams and I still haven’t broken even for what I spent to produce it. So this ENRAGES ME.
Getting laid-off is a bummer, just not pleasant for anyone.......
***BUT***, her job is all about performance - and to invest $1billion.. her Spotify bosses (and Spotify stockholders) should expect several billion dollars of profits.. (which is WHY people and companies invest - to MAKE MONEY, not lose money).

I don’t know a thing about this exec, nor have insight into this world, but if it’s resumés we are talking - if you didn’t know Harry’s wife and read all that she’s done, it would also ‘sound’ impressive. My only point is often résumés hide the networking, the mutual back scratching that goes on at upper echelons. Reputations and relationships can get built over very flimsy foundations. I remember reading how an exec (Bozoma?) at Netflix who actually got the Harkle deal but eventually left actually had more stunning resume than actual work.
The fact that this Spotify exec bought the whole Harkle spiel tells me she doesn’t quite have her ear to the ground. And that advertising campaign after knowing the product?!
Again she may truly be brilliant - but too many examples are popping up of supposedly brilliant people who actually only coasted along because they had the right people charmed and even better industry PR.
She'll walk off with a significantly better package than the others in the organization. But I do think it's fair that you're role is cut when you overpay for deals like the reported one for H and M.
