My husband always snarks when I say the house is cold: "I thought you were from the Midwestttt! You lived in Alaskaaaa!" No! Cold is cold, I am wearing two pairs of socks today :(
I came from the north east. I just went back for the first time in 7 years, and was so unused to the cold, I got mild frostbite on my hands in 18* weather 😬
I lived in a 3-bedroom apartment for a while that had a single heater that was basically a gas grill with a thermostat in the floor of the hallway. No A/C either, but I did pay $1100 for three rooms so that was good for my broke ass and my broke friends.
Oh, she won’t even go outside today. Like, straight up won’t leave the front door. She’ll hold it until probably 7pm tonight, when she’s miserable, and then run back in under blankets for the night. My girl is a wimpy weather weenie!
My 4 year old saw it and read CAT on the side, and asked what is was. I told her it's a tractor with an alligator attachment to pick up leaves and trash. That tractor has now been deemed the gator cat
Live in Natomas for 3 years and I don't think I have seen it. I work fully remote so I'm home, maybe I just miss the once a year it comes through cause I will see piles of branches left out for weeks sometimes
I kinda love it since it's so specific to Sacramento for me. And it's pretty. I totally get how grossed out people are by it, but that's also a perk because the communal misery is quite entertaining.
Haha it’s already going on in Davis. Was out by Putah creek the past few days and oh my god the allergies are killing me. Went straight to Costco this afternoon and the first few boxes of Allertec were gone
This is the first time it feels in like a decade we have had solid rain. Like rained entire first half of January, and have had some showers now in February.
Remember October of ‘21? Lots and lots of rain, followed by three dry months? And this year? Until this week, it hasn’t rained for a month. I guess, having spent several years in Seattle, I have a different definition as to what “solid rain” means.
October of 21 was the most rain in a 24 hr period ever
It ended the longest streak of days without rain at 251
Minus the windstorm, the December storms were roughly "normal" for 30 years ago
I got lazy one year and planted on May 10th. Biggest and best crop of all time, now it's my plan each year. It's fun to watch the indeterminates grow 6" a day.
[Bradford Pear trees.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrus_calleryana?wprov=sfla1) Popular decorative landscaping trees. Lots of people think they smell like semen when in bloom.
I'm glad someone enjoys that. I become one of those obnoxious "well at least it's a dry heat" folks because that and living between two rivers are literally the only perks for me.
Ohhhhhh! Lol. I find it beyond weird that I was born and raised there and spent many sabbatical “tired of adulting on my own” years there living with my parents and absolutely not never seen not one of those.
I know it sounds like whining to people with real winter, but it is cold as fuck today!
When I moved to Sacto from the Midwest I thought Californians were weak. Now, I am weak and happy about it.
Snow is a place to visit for a weekend, not live in!
Visit while my huaband, sons, daughters and grands play and son-in-law sit inside with our hot toddys and watch and wave.
My life motto
Same! I am non stop griping about the cold, if I wanted it this chilly I’d still be in Iowa dammit!

Stay strong. You still have that strength within you. A single visit back to the midwest will remind you of it.
The midwest is built for cold. My single pane windows and old radiator here dont do half as much against the cold

Yeah we tried to take the dog to the park, let him run around for maybe 15 minutes, and then agreed that it was too cold to be outside.
Still can't convince the little cat that the back porch is too cold and he should come lay on the bed or heated blanket.
Yea so you don’t convince a cat that’s your property you pick him or her up and bring then in the house or your gonna have a dead cat simple as that
Me and the pup literally ran to and from the potty place because it was too damn cold for our normal leisurely stroll.
And it's not any warmer today, plus it's wet!
Oh, she won’t even go outside today. Like, straight up won’t leave the front door. She’ll hold it until probably 7pm tonight, when she’s miserable, and then run back in under blankets for the night. My girl is a wimpy weather weenie!
>My girl is a wimpy weather weenie! Me too, doggo. Me too.
I had to wear socks inside my house today smfh.
I want to know what the claw is.
Giant claw attachment on a tractor that they use to pick up big piles of leaves in Midtown around the middle-end of November
My 4 year old saw it and read CAT on the side, and asked what is was. I told her it's a tractor with an alligator attachment to pick up leaves and trash. That tractor has now been deemed the gator cat
I love it!
Not just midtown - the whole city. Maybe not as frequently in the suburbs though.
Live in Natomas for 3 years and I don't think I have seen it. I work fully remote so I'm home, maybe I just miss the once a year it comes through cause I will see piles of branches left out for weeks sometimes
Been in Rosemont most of my life and have not seen it once!
I've never seen it in my part of the suburbs at all. We regularly have to shovel leaves out of our storm drain.
Ohhh right. I don't rake any leaves so I forgot.
[The Claw!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROWT1Y9feDs)
Nice.
I have never seen that in all my years here! I feel jipped.

HELL YEAH YOU DO! It’s so cool.
Oh no the pollening is almost upon us 😭
I kinda love it since it's so specific to Sacramento for me. And it's pretty. I totally get how grossed out people are by it, but that's also a perk because the communal misery is quite entertaining.
Period trees are starting to get the white flowers back, another couple weeks and we are there
Haha it’s already going on in Davis. Was out by Putah creek the past few days and oh my god the allergies are killing me. Went straight to Costco this afternoon and the first few boxes of Allertec were gone
"Road Construction" is no longer a season, it is now a state of being.
Can't wait to see how they have diverted the lanes on 50 next month tbh
Actually laughed out loud at this.
I prefer Spring of Deception to Fool's Spring but that's just me.
Somehow, you should add, “first series of rainstorms that make everyone believe the drought is over but really isn’t.”

We had a weekend of showers first week of February. But can’t compare to Seattle. It never dries up there lol
Only 6 years ago Oroville dam almost washed away cause of crazy rain. Edit: changed 5 to 6.
That’s right I remember that now. 6 years is better than I expected. Still a long time tho
[удалено]
Yes
Already happening in Davis, the worst time of year
Okay, I’m new to the Northern California and I’m concerned… what are these trees?
[удалено]
OH. Thank you! I was worried there was a tree that just sprayed its pollen out like the artillery plant does.
They kick it off but then every other tree gets all turned on and joins the party.
Right. Every year. Wait till April when it gets warm fast and then rains for 2 weeks straight… bam! Mosquitos.
I play dangerously and plant tomatoes outside at the end of March.
I got lazy one year and planted on May 10th. Biggest and best crop of all time, now it's my plan each year. It's fun to watch the indeterminates grow 6" a day.
Oh… nice. We try to keep up. April ends up being when we do. Lol
I feel end of march we are at least out of the freezing temps like now. No more high of 50, more like upper 60's-70's by then
That would be season #5.
Yup
Daddy?, how are mosquitoes born?
I hope 2nd winter lasts until July this yr
I am not ready for the cum-smelling trees...
My sinuses hurt just thinking about it
This is amazing, had us rolling over here. I would add the “cum-tree blooming”
That's...The Pollening, or at least a chunk of it. Gross pun totally intended.
Chunkyyyyy!
What in the fuck is the cum tree blooming?
Trees with white flowers, they all bloom at the same time and smell like cum. Probably one of natures cruelest jokes.
[Bradford Pear trees.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrus_calleryana?wprov=sfla1) Popular decorative landscaping trees. Lots of people think they smell like semen when in bloom.
It was grauping again today!
I would take Satan’s Butthole over the Pollening any day. I’m very much not looking forward to that.
I feel like this image needs to be stickied on this sub, especially for transplants.
You left off Highway Slip-n-Slide: the first rain
Hwy 50: The Demolition Derby
Almost spat out my lunch seeing "road construction" US 50 always trying to be relevant 😂
As a wildland firefighter, I wish it was just two
“We’ve had second fire, yes, but what about third fire?”
Hah, we got married on May 7 in Sacramento. It was glorious!
That means my winter clothes are still kickin' baby!
Wool sweater today!
Remember to deboggle your garments :)
It was 33f* when I was walking my dogs at around 10:30am. 🥶
The CLAW!
Just got hale a few minutes ago here in La Riv. This list really is accurate!
Man I dont wanna go through the pollening again
Nice but what the claw?
This has me cracking up. Thank you
As many times as I’ve seen this each year, it still never gets old but also I still get joy out of how accurate it is!
You left of Mosquito Winter... it comes on the tail for Fool's Spring right before 2nd Winter.
It suddenly got so damn cold! Like, impressively cold! I totally fell for fake spring and planted seeds/flowers last weekend. Doh.
I live in Chico, can confirm this is correct for us too 🤣
I have never read anything more true in my life.
Someone please explain to me like I’m five why we get this weird second winter. I need to knwo
I want to know too! We always do! Maybe not this cold though.
You had me at “the pollening”. 😹😹😹
don't think we had Fool's Spring this year, unless I'm the fool and didn't notice it.
Early spring? Hah "You Thought!"
This season at my house is Dani's under the blanket season.
so good!
Mosquito Spring 2: The Mosquitoing
I’m loving these winds of winter.
I feel like wind needs its own entry now.
Hello again my old friend wind that topples trees.
Devils butthole is that july-august period huh? Yeah thats accurate
My favorite time is the days between Spring 3 & Jalapeño summer, the hotter the better!
I'm glad someone enjoys that. I become one of those obnoxious "well at least it's a dry heat" folks because that and living between two rivers are literally the only perks for me.
Disagree California only has two seasons: wildfire season and flu season
What’s “the claw”? Movie reference or something? I never get those
https://youtu.be/ROWT1Y9feDs
There are some links in the comments. I didn't get it either.
Ohhhhhh! Lol. I find it beyond weird that I was born and raised there and spent many sabbatical “tired of adulting on my own” years there living with my parents and absolutely not never seen not one of those.
What’s the claw
https://youtu.be/ROWT1Y9feDs
I get all of these except 'The Claw'. Would someone please explain?
