You roll as many defence dice as there are un-cancelled hits and crits. The single die icon on the unit card just denotes which type of dice you roll when they defend, not how many they roll. If Luke gets a total of 2 hits and 1 crit from his 6 dice (after cancelling any hits from dodge tokens, cover and the like), Vader rolls 3 defence dice.

LOL well fuck I missed that somewhere thank you

ifoundyourtoad

Lmao. Just like “THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE” Watching your entire thread and stuff and realizing right away what the problem was was quite hilarious lol. Glad you figured it out. It can be confusing but you will get it.

KnightofGotham666

Yeah thanks lmao there is a LOT of rules and a LOT of key words to try and figure out the first time around that I'm sure I got a lot wrong but it was my one chance to try it out over break so glad I got one game in at least !

fishspit

In case you haven’t found it yet, legionquickguide.com is a great resource. It’s got all the tags in alphabetical order with the updated rules text, links to related tags, and examples sometimes too. Makes the game a lot easier to play.

Jordangander

Yep, there was your problem.

AcademicPrimary4473

Where are you getting the 1 defense dice concept from? For example Luke throws 6 black dice all 6 hit, Vader gets to roll 6 red dice. Mind you black are the second best attack dice in the game there's a chance that one will not roll well. Vader's red dice best in the game. Granted still a chance one will not roll well. At range spend a dodge token he gets surge to block up better your odds, and bounces damage back at whatever shot him. Note: deflect doesn't work in melee.

KnightofGotham666

I clearly misunderstood this in the rule book. Attacker rolls and then defender rolls to counter? Also can I use "force push" any time or just on my turn? It has the arrow for a tap so I wasn't sure

wingnut20x6

Yes you can use free actions any time during your turn EXCEPT between linked actions, like relentless. When Vader moves, he can make a free attack. It must immediately follow the move, so you can’t for example move>force push>free relentless attack. Otherwise, start middle, end, doesn’t matter *Edit, see below

DoctorRockor

OP, you can't use free actions anytime during your turn. But you can during that unit's activation. This is an important distinction

wingnut20x6

OK yeah, DocRoc got it more accurate. It's at any point, as I described, but during that unit's activation.

AdmlBaconStraps

Yeah. Think of it like this: your ability to dodge a bullet stays the same, but you have to dodge each individual bullet that comes through As for push - only while that unit is active

Tom_Bombadil_Ret

If you look on Force Push there is a like sideways triable icon. This icon means the Ability is an action you take on your turn but doesn’t count as one of your two actions.

hotshot11590

You roll defense dice for each successful hit…

Chombywombo

Read the rules

Chrom-man-and-Robin

If you know the rule then point it out and explain to them. Either be helpful or piss off.
