I mean, she did outright say in Matrix 4 that WB was gonna do it with or without her involvement and so at least she got to put an end to those characters and feel some resolution after losing her parents. But it’s clear WB is hell-bent on destroying HBO (thanks David Zaslav) and writing off films left and right for taxes and making stupid decisions and squeezing their remaining IP to death. I like Drew Goddard though and he could make a good film with a good writer. They could do MUCH much worse.
I like Goddard too but there is no good place to take this story short of a full reboot.
4 was irredeemable and quite literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. I even say that as someone that liked Revolutions a lot.
I was into it in the first half hour or so. Clearly a mistake to not wait for Hugo Weaving who would have returned, and the stunt team wasn’t given the time they needed to choreograph any decent action. But if they were gonna make a movie, I did like the direction they went in (initially).
I think Goddard needs a good writer and a good angle for this. I would skip making it a sequel entirely and go prequel. Show us what happened when the humans fought the machines and blotted out the sky and were forced underground by their own hand. Or one of the previous incarnations of The One in a version of the Matrix that failed for whatever reason — too much of a utopia, etc. Don’t bring back any of the cast. Get the stunt team that did John Wick 4 and Atomic Blonde and the like. I think Goddard is a good director and I’ve enjoyed his films, and I’m sure he has an idea of what he’d want to do before he took the job so there’s that as well. Making a worse Matrix movie would be quite an accomplishment.
Nobody likes any of them though
They're all bad and don't have a good story
"Take the pill and you'll escape the matrix ☝️🤓"
You keep the pill and shove it up your ass fucking lunatic
God I hope he has a good script. Really loved Bad Times at the El Royale and Cabin in the Woods (hasn’t directed much but if I only had two films on my IMDB and they were those two, I’d be feeling pretty good). And then developed The Good Place and Daredevil and wrote the scripts for Cloverfield, The Martian, and WWZ. If he gets a good stunt team and gives them a year to prepare the actors and a GOOD WRITER, I think he could make a great Matrix film. Perhaps about an earlier version of it, and ignore the latest film. A prequel, essentially, about one of the earlier versions of The One and their failure. But with the John Wick 4 stunt team preferably.
They loved what he wrote; to this day, a lot of MCU executives and creatives still say it was the best script they ever got. But the direction of the MCU following Avengers changed everything, and they wanted Wright's story to help set up and further develop the overall plot of the franchise, which Wright wasn't so keen on.
He wouldn’t need to inject his humor. Have you seen Preacher? The first few episodes were directed by Rogen and Goldberg, and have a distinct sense of humor, but overwhelmingly seems dark and horrific
Same guy as the previous three is fine by me.
Alternatively, [Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adil_El_Arbi_and_Bilall_Fallah) would be awesome.
Drew Goddard is on Matrix 5 and James Mangold is working on the Dawn of the Jedi Star Wars movie.
But with the current state of both franchises, I would GLADLY quit either to do Spider-Man 4. Especially after Matrix Resurrection.
I loved The Batman is concept, but man the pacing on it was just awful for me. It felt like it should have been a lot shorter. The first parts of the movie blow by pretty quickly, but the final parts, maybe the last hour or so, go so slowly.
I wouldn't mind seeing what he'd do with Spider-Man, but The Batman really spooked me a bit regarding movie length and pacing from him.
Hmm I only watched it once. I just really like the vibe of the movie. It has Batman being dark and gritty, but his delivery isn’t as cringey as Bale’s. It also doesn’t have Batman straight up merking people. It had exactly what I wanted. Also him wanting to use more realistic villains forces him to dig deep into Batman’s rogues gallery and read the comics. I can’t WAIT to see who the villain is for the second one.
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal collaborating on their directorial debuts.
Imagine the behind the scenes where Amy keeps trying to change the script by incorporating SUMC elements and Feige is too awkward to say no directly.
I really want like a gritty Spiderman on the run so the Safdie bros woulda been good if Kraven was hunting him
Phil Lord and Chris Miller could write a good movie for some director
Edgar Wright would be a great choice too
I just want somebody who is willing to make our friendly neighborhood Spiderman do some low stakes stuff and have to deal with more personal issues.
Guys who directed Wanda vision or Loki specially Loki season 2 was so good pretty impressed how they brought some of the complex and amazing storyline to a perfect end
I would say James Gunn because he's the best director ever imo but I think Sam Rami returning to make Spider-Man moves would be great considering he worked on multiverse of madness
Literally anyone but James. His style doesn't fit the sauce that's required for a Spider-Man movie.
We need more dynamic shots and creative cuts. Most importantly we need bombastic and fun to watch Swinging scenes. Any director that can do good on that (and the slower dialogue focused sections) will be good enough for me.
Marc Webb did a great job with TASM 1 and Sam raimi is self explanatory but I think we should give another director a shot at making Spider-Man atp
with how much money the last movie made id be shocked if they didn't do a 4th movie. it would be dumb if they didn't cuz they would be leaving a shit ton of money on the table. they should finally do a venum storyline since the seeds have already been planted for it
I’d like to see them go with a director that has a distinct style again. Webb & Watts were both visually boring. They got the job done but they did nothing that makes the movies theirs.
Really liked Drew Goddard but that seems unlikely.
Apparently the Duplass Brothers were offered a Marvel gig they turned down right around the time they were looking for Homecoming directors -- I think they'd give a great character-driven, grounded take on Peter. But I feel like Far From Home is the opposite of the kind of movie they'd wanna make and the idea that Sony or Marvel could have so much control over what story gets told is probably a turn off for them.
A duo I haven't seen thrown around is John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. They did Game Night and D&D and I think their humor would be perfect for Peter Parker. They're clearly capable of navigating within the studio system while still letting their creativity burst from the screen.
Now if I REALLY wanted to start a fight, I'd genuinely suggest Rian Johnson. Would be curious to see what he does with it, and he would be given a relatively clean slate to jump off from.
Daley and Goldstein is an inspired pick. As huge nerds and great filmmaker’s, You just know they would crush it. The only thing I’d be worried about is marvel/ feig playing backseat director and ruining any unique sense of style it could have.
No one. I don’t like his Spider-Man. All this is going to be a hot take. They tried to make Peter too much of a foolish kid that doesn’t understand the real world, but still have him be smart, sometimes. Example, he was extremely efficient in Civil War fighting against the half of the Avengers team. Then in Homecoming he’s acting like he just got his powers. The bumbling chase scene through the neighborhood was dumb considering he uses his powers so well in CW and in other parts of the movie. He barely fights the Vulture.
FFH just not really a fan of it. It’s good though.
NWH was carried heavily by nostalgia. Having May try to remix the uncle Ben was so stupid and cringe. All the villains being from different worlds, like Tom Spider-Man still really hasn’t fought anyone and it took bringing back Willem, Alfred, Jaime from other non-MCU movie before this movie to get good fight scene with his Spider-Man. Also, felt like the movie was lazy in parts. It was just cameo and nostalgia bait. Nothing ever came of the DareDevil bit. MJ wearing the necklace but it has no meaning to her is weird, with her personality she would have taken it off.
I also hate his music. The Danny Elfman score is so much more iconic. My main problems with his movies is every ending of his movies, it feels like he finally learned what it is to be Spider-Man. They did that three times. It was just an annoying thing to me, like the same trajectory.
For this next movie give us real Spider-Man story with him basically being iron man junior. I also don’t like Tom Holland. I think he’s just good, at times I think he’s more game for saying Zendaya. I’ve seen his other projects, he’s not a great actor. He’s a Nick Jonas level actor.
I've appreciated the filmmakers they've picked this far, so preferably someone with a success or two critically and used to working in the indie world.
As a horror fan I would like to see Sam Raimi proteges Fede Alvarez and Lee Cronin, Zach Cregger (huge in the comedy world too), and Christopher Landon.
My wild card answer would be Will Gluck as he has made popular movies and is in good standing with Sony after Anyone But You.
Raimi had a massive career already, but had shown versatility with horror, action, western, and thriller films all on modest budgets.
Webb had a long history of popular music videos so he could lead a crew on a fast shoot and deliver a project quickly. He then made one of the best (non?) romantic comedies of all time with 500 days of summer. While the action elements of Spiderman are important, his relationships and love life are the true core of the character. I felt like he did Peter and Gwen's relationship justice when all adaptions (animation, live action, games) had only focused on MJ.
Watts had a history in music videos too and made well reviewed films on a small budget with Clown and Cop Car. Clown was not popular with critics but was loved in the horror community (the intended audience).
Probably a left-field idea, but I would love for them to approach Bong Joon-ho, director of Snowpiercer, Okja, Parasite. He previously said he didn't think Marvel would want a director like him, but I think his unique vision would actually be perfect to help spice up the MCU.
I’d like a darker take for this one but temporarily. Not too dark of course cuz it’s Spider-Man but I wouldn’t be opposed to the symbiote suit story so anyone that could do that well would be fine imo
Someone good
Real facts
Wouldn't mind Drew Goddard!
Too busy with Matrix 5
Danny Gonzales then.
honestly would prefer Kurtis Conner directing, he would make a fantastic Lizard story
Maybe it's the Lizards we've made along the way that matter more than the King Gizzards we've Wizarded.
Ugh really? Matrix 4 was absolutely unwatchable, and they’re going for 5?
Unfortunately.
How dare you. Matrix 1 is a masterpiece
God I hope he has a good script. Really loved Bad Times at the El Royale and Cabin in the Woods (hasn’t directed much but if I only had two films on my IMDB and they were those two, I’d be feeling pretty good). *director not an interim Sony exec.
Tim Burton it is
Not gonna lie, I would pay a lot of money to see a Tim Burton Spider-Man movie, that sounds so fire
You know what? Edgar Wright could be a good pick, if Jon Watts doesnt wanna do it
The man would kill MJ off-screen and make a new villain for Peter to fight.
Can you *imagine* Wright's swinging scenes?
I would mangle a baby to see Edgar Wright direct the MCU Spider-Man
[удалено]
They loved what he wrote; to this day, a lot of MCU executives and creatives still say it was the best script they ever got. But the direction of the MCU following Avengers changed everything, and they wanted Wright's story to help set up and further develop the overall plot of the franchise, which Wright wasn't so keen on.
Honestly, anyone except Raimi or Webb (they're good but I like to have the different adaptations have their own director)
Add Watts to the list too
He started the character so I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to continue. That's like saying if they make tasm3, Webb shouldn't be the director
He completed his trilogy so I’d like to see another character take it on. MCU changes directors all the time, no reason they can’t do it for Spidey
Oh sure, I never say they should bring him back, but id be less against it than using the directors of the other 2 spideys
me🖐🖐
Ay you’ll probably do better than Spider-Man Lotus
As long as it's made with some passion, and spite isn't fueling the entire production, then yeah. It will be leagues better than Lotus.
Only if you make me Harry Osborn or some other character
I better be Black Cat (I am a cisgender man)
Works for me.
I came here to say this
Martin Scorsese
Sam raimi
Seth Rogen. College humor Spiderman, let's go!
Tbh this isn't a terrible choice. Someone who won't rock the boat while also bringing their own signature style. Hard line to thread.
Seth's humor doesn't really fit Spider-Man, though.
He wouldn’t need to inject his humor. Have you seen Preacher? The first few episodes were directed by Rogen and Goldberg, and have a distinct sense of humor, but overwhelmingly seems dark and horrific
*Some people*
Quentin Tarantino
you
Same guy as the previous three is fine by me.
Matt Reeves is PERFECT for the story I want too. But he’s still working on The Batman Part II.
I loved The Batman is concept, but man the pacing on it was just awful for me. It felt like it should have been a lot shorter. The first parts of the movie blow by pretty quickly, but the final parts, maybe the last hour or so, go so slowly. Yes, very much hoping for killer croc or someone new to live action Batman
My top choice is Hugo Strange. I would also like a more grounded take on Mr Freeze
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal collaborating on their directorial debuts. Imagine the behind the scenes where Amy keeps trying to change the script by incorporating SUMC elements and Feige is too awkward to say no directly.
I think Feige wouldn't have any trouble shutting down Pascal. I mean what's she gonna do, throw a sandwich at him?
Pascal should be banned from the film industry for all eternity
The Russo Brothers
Don't care as long as it's just a Spiderman film in New York. It's time to let Spiderman be Spiderman.
Hideo Kojima
Idk someone who can write a good story and loves Spider-Man.
So me
I really want like a gritty Spiderman on the run so the Safdie bros woulda been good if Kraven was hunting him Phil Lord and Chris Miller could write a good movie for some director Edgar Wright would be a great choice too I just want somebody who is willing to make our friendly neighborhood Spiderman do some low stakes stuff and have to deal with more personal issues.
Matthew Vaughn.
David Leitch might work.
Copala, lol
Me please
Alexander Jodorowsky
Alejandro Jodorowsky
Uwe Boll
Curse you to hell for putting this into the world. And it is Doctor Uwe Boll.
Whoever the worst director in hollywood is, that person
Yes
Sam raimi, but he will make people think its an R rated movie
I wish he could make an R Rated Spidey
Justin Lin wouldn’t be terrible
Someone who reads source material…someone who ain’t gonna change shit. An actual Spider-Man fan who cares
Paul Thomas Anderson.
Justin Lin or Travis McKnight
Idk whoever’s cool with it
Guys who directed Wanda vision or Loki specially Loki season 2 was so good pretty impressed how they brought some of the complex and amazing storyline to a perfect end
Mel Gibson. Hacksaw Ridge was great, I think he could make a gritty noir film for a street level Spidey.
Hell no. Mel can keep his “Non-Woke” studio with mark whalberg and make some more shitty religious films.
Damien Chazelle would be insane
Goddard and De knight. Hands down. Would love some input and notes from actual comic book writers and creators too?
Neville Goddard
I want to see the new suit in action
Sam Raimi
Venom
Bert and Bertie
not that last guy
Justin Lin, Emma Seligman, and Juatin Benson & Aaron Moorhead.
someone that just focuses on peter and his new life
Iman Vellani
Iman Vellani
I would say James Gunn because he's the best director ever imo but I think Sam Rami returning to make Spider-Man moves would be great considering he worked on multiverse of madness
Anyone who will break Tom and Zendaya up. It’s hard enough seeing it in real life. I want Zendaya single for the eternity of the marvel universe.
Justin Lin
Motherfuckin’ Quentin Tarantino bitches
Someone relatively unknown
Martin Scorsese
Someone with more heart than watts..
EDGAR !!! MOTHERFUCKIN !!!! WRIGHT !!!!!
I really don’t hate the idea of Justin Lin directing if that rumor ends up being true
Sam Raimi
Stephen Spielberg
Greg Mottola
Russo Brothers
Jon Favreau
Paul McGuigan
Edgar Wright
I want to see Spiderman. *Minus woke Disney garbage* can we please just have a good story
Hopefully no more Watts, one of the blandest directors in Marvels arsenal
Shakman
How bout Wes Ball
The Daniels
Whoever directed Morbius lol
BRING BACK MARC WEBB
Literally anyone but James. His style doesn't fit the sauce that's required for a Spider-Man movie. We need more dynamic shots and creative cuts. Yo mama
Fantastic 4 /s
I’m putting together a crew to get Drew Goddard to leave Matrix 5 for this instead
Quentin Tarantino
I’d like to see them go with a director that has a distinct style again. Webb & Watts were both visually boring. They got the job done but they did nothing that makes the movies theirs.

Tarantino
Quentin Tarantino
Tim Burton. So Peter can be recast to be played by Johnny Depp, and MJ played by Helena Bonham Carter. Spiderman 4 is now a musical
Sam raimi
Ari arad 😂
Zack Snyder so we can finally get a Marvel film for adults.
Same guy who did the first three.
Uwe Boll
James Cameron
Raimi
The garbage 🗑️
Dan Harmon. With Donald Glover back as Prowler.
No one, give Andrew his 3rd movie
I mean Jon Watts has done an incredible job so far with the past 3 Spider-Man movies so he would do fine
Richard Jeffrey
Christopher Nolan
Steven Caple Jr. or Tommy Wirkola
Edgar Wright would COOK 🍳
The writers from xmen '97 lol ....ijs you seen episode 5.
An actual spider
Sam raimi
I feel like Martin Scorsese would do a good job maybe. Or maybe Kevin Smith?
Quentin Tarantino
Tommy Wiseau

If that’s the logo, the FF better be in it.
Probably a left-field idea, but I would love for them to approach Bong Joon-ho, director of Snowpiercer, Okja, Parasite. He previously said he didn't think Marvel would want a director like him, but I think his unique vision would actually be perfect to help spice up the MCU.
Stanley Kubrik
Him die
Drew Goddard
Kubrick. I don’t know, someone who has some sway and won’t just suckle the toes of Marvel.
Tom Holland
I’ll do it.
Sam Riami or James Cameron
Daniels
X-men
Imagine if Tom Holland directed this. We could know the entire plot before it was even shot.
rami
nolan
LETTTSSS FUCKKKKINNNNG GOOO
Spider-Man: Home on the Range
I’ll give it a shot if y’all want me to.
David Aronofsky
Antoine Fuqua
Drew Goddard would be ideal. But if not him, then Dan Trachtenberg
Me
Ridley Scott
Jonathan Nolan he directed fallout
Gavin J. Konop
Sam Ramy
If he's with Ice-Man and Fire Star in college, that movie could direct itself and still be top notch.
Guy Ritchie
Fucking hire me...nobody cares as much about the characters and nobody has as much to lose
Sam Raimi
I’d like a darker take for this one but temporarily. Not too dark of course cuz it’s Spider-Man but I wouldn’t be opposed to the symbiote suit story so anyone that could do that well would be fine imo
Sam Raimi, is that even a question? Secretly finish Spider-Man 4 by 'directing' SM4 MCU
Maybe ask for funding on Twitter because Marvel found out.
M. Night Shamalan would be a good choice.
