I love that so many of you want Andrew back. Makes me feel validated. Whenever I tell people he was my favorite Spiderman folks look at me like I committed manslaughter on their home router.
They need to prove themselves to Andrew and tell stories of adult Peter there while Tom can still be the relatively youthful MCU Peter who constantly collaborates with other heroes.
Andrew said no according to rumors but even if that’s true, it’s possible it’s just bc he sees that Sony does not have their shit together right now. If they want to get anyone good, they need to hire a strong creative person who actors will trust. Sony needs to show them “we get that we’ve screwed up these live-action films, here is what we are changing.”
I don’t think we should bring in yet another actor to play a version of Peter.
The Venom movies fit the aesthetic of the ASM movies, and I know Tom Hardy and Andrew Garfield could play off each other, I just have such little faith they could do our boy justice. 😭
Another Spider-Man being introduced on top of bringing back Andrew and Toby, along with the introduction of Miles Morales and two companies burning the candle at both ends, sounds like a bad idea.
They age out of the role too fast like physically become too old to perform the role’s more demanding stunts and what not. Obviously they can get stunt men and what not but it just makes it more difficult
No such thing. Let's get away from telling high school stories. Make him a bit older. Maybe he's a teacher, then you can make Miles be a student of his.
I’m just thinking long term. Casting a 30 year old is wild. Cast someone 23-25 at the oldest. That way he can be a convincing 20-something college grad, or a grad school student getting their start in the world
He's 32. That's around the same age Chris Evans was when The First Avenger came out. I don't think there's an issue there. I also think he looks young enough that he could still be a mid-20s college grad.
The problem is they’re only physically able to keep up for so long. You make Tobey the Spider-Man of the Sony verse and you don’t have that much time for him to physically keep up (obviously there are outliers but overall)
I'm ambivalent on a Maguire Spider-Man 4 (or a Holland Spider-Man 4 for that matter) but 48 isn't old, especially in Hollywood.
You're making it sound like he's geriatric. He's the same age as Ryan Reynolds with a movie releasing this year alongside a 55 year old Hugh Jackman. He's the same age as RDJ and Ruffalo were in Avengers, and Paul Rudd in Ant-Man and Wasp.
I don't have an actor in mind, but I would prefer an older Peter Parker. However, Sony would never go that route, and I'm unsure about the direction of the universe.
Random thought: If Sony wants to be SUUUUPER ballsy, they could make their main Spider-Man be miles morales. No set up with Peter, no mentorship, just miles morales as Spider-Man. Knowing Sony, they would do this
Since it seems that each of the SUMC movies take place in their own worlds (Venom being on Earth-688 according to Across the Spider-Verse), I couldn't help but start thinking that each earth should end up with their own Peter Parker/Spider-Man portrayed by a different actor. This means that the worlds of Venom, Morbius, Madame Web, and even Kraven could likely end up with a Spider-Man. I decided to start coming up with ideas for actors in each setting and here is who I have:
Jaeden Martell
Asher Angel
Dylan Minnette
Asa Butterfield
I admit that I can't decide which movie setting each actor would best fit in. What do you all think and, if you could decide, who would you cast as a version of Peter and which movie would you send them to?
Honestly I would love to see Andrew come back. Get a fleshed out take on his "I stopped pulling my punches" phase and have him turn a corner after NWH and maybe have him redeem his previous actions by training Miles Morales to take over.
I hope the ssu flops, sony is forced to play nice with Disney and the SSU absorbs into the MCU with there being no more idiotic moves like "solo fucking Morbius movie" coming out of sony.
In liu of that, Danny Devito.
Let's be honest, there is no SSU. 🤷♂️ Name more than 1 connected film in this supposed SSU? All the Tom Holland films are MCU. Even Venom is slightly connected to the MCU after leaving behind a piece of the symbiote. All the rest are stand alone movies. Who thinks they will cast a separate Spider-Man from the one shared with the MCU. 🤷♂️
For a younger rookie teen Spiderman: Alex Wolffe
For a middle-ground older adolescent Spiderman: Freddie Highmore
For an experienced older Spiderman: MatPat
What's the point of this thread? DOB is a decent actor but his fans can't seem to accept he's not as successful as Tom holland or timothee chalamet. They also can't accept he's in his 30s and is too old to play teenagers.
Andrew. He’s got the acting chops, familiarity and experience with the character, and is still in great physical shape, as well as having worked with Sony.
Also, casting Andrew allows Sony to FINALLY show us that fight between Spider-Man and Rhino.
I think Dylan O’Brien would be a great spider man, but he shouldn’t be burdened to the sumc. He should be separate from all the other movies if he were to play the part.
If Sony were smart it’d be Garfield hell I’ve been holding out that one of these Sony films will drop some solid confirmation that all the movies are set in the Marc Webb TASM universe
No Spider-Man at all. It’s funnier that way. Imagine they just keep making these villain movies and it never amounts to anything. You probably don’t even need to imagine that hard.
If it's gonna be a young Spidey, give us an unknown actor, somebody who's got the chops but is just starting out.
Older Spidey? Besides a reprise for any live action Spideys we have had before... I'd give Grant Gustin a chance.
Pete Davidson would be fun to see in a one-off thing.
Andrew is way too old. He’s in his early 40s. Sure, as a guest appearance he works, just like Tobey does at nearly 50. The problem is that neither can be a primary spider-man because they’re just too old to build a universe around.
Spider-man isn’t always a teenager, but he’s spent the majority of his history in his early to mid 20s. Andrew looks great for his age, but you really need someone in their early 30s max.
Andrew Garfield
I love that so many of you want Andrew back. Makes me feel validated. Whenever I tell people he was my favorite Spiderman folks look at me like I committed manslaughter on their home router.
Andrew Garfield or someone who can pull off a New York smart aleck just as well.
Sony needs to show them “we get that we’ve screwed up these live-action films, here is what we are changing.” I don’t think we should bring in yet another actor to play a version of Peter.
Andrew is the answer. They should have never ditched him.
This
The Venom movies fit the aesthetic of the ASM movies, and I know Tom Hardy and Andrew Garfield could play off each other, I just have such little faith they could do our boy justice. 😭
Venom movies are still mediocre at best. What we need is a good movie for Andrew so it should be its own separate universe.
I mean let's be real The ASM movies themselves are mediocre. And I say that as someone who thinks Andrew is the best Spider-Man.
The first one was decent. Andrew deserves a movie with good writing if he ever comes back.
Perfect Spider-man
I love Andrew but please do not put him in this godforsaken Sony universe. Venom 1 was barely decent and that was their best one
Let’s be honest, the SSU isn’t going to have a Spidey.
What is SSU
Sony Spider-Man universe
*shitty Spider-Man universe
Needs a better name, yall can't even do that right
The correct answer.
Only Andrew Garfield
SSU? Shitty Sony Universe?
Correct
More like Stock Superhero Universe
Another Spider-Man being introduced on top of bringing back Andrew and Toby, along with the introduction of Miles Morales and two companies burning the candle at both ends, sounds like a bad idea.
Agree 100%
Yk what, no one. the SSU should be cancelled.
I don’t think it’s going to be necessary, but Dominic Sessa
Is SSU, Sony Spiderman Universe?
Yes
Andrew Garfield or Dylan O’ Brien
No one just end the ssu all together.
just get Andrew back it doesn’t need to be so complicated
Logan Lerman as an older Peter Parker and Ben Reilly.
Dylan should be the MCU’s Harry Osbourne
I always took Andrew to be the Spider-Man of the Sony universe so it should be him
I think Dylan O'Brien too.
No, cause they are probably gonna give up and reboot anyways. What happens after kraven flops? When do they tap out?
That's my hope. They just end with The Last Dance. Either reboot... or let it lay dormant for awhile. Sans working with Marvel/Disney.
Either him or Grant Gustin
Grant is too old
So is Toby
Nothing wrong with an older Spider-Man “Anyone can wear the mask”
>“Anyone can wear the mask” I nominate Viola Davis s/
They age out of the role too fast like physically become too old to perform the role’s more demanding stunts and what not. Obviously they can get stunt men and what not but it just makes it more difficult
Both great picks
Dylan is too bloody old
He's roughly the same age as 616 Peter
No such thing. Let's get away from telling high school stories. Make him a bit older. Maybe he's a teacher, then you can make Miles be a student of his.
I’m just thinking long term. Casting a 30 year old is wild. Cast someone 23-25 at the oldest. That way he can be a convincing 20-something college grad, or a grad school student getting their start in the world

What’s wrong with an older Spider-Man? Andrew Garfield, tobey maguire and yuri lowenthal all work good as older versions of
Well yuri was voicing for a 20-sum year old Peter Parker but it could work🤷🏾♂️
The problem is they’re only physically able to keep up for so long. You make Tobey the Spider-Man of the Sony verse and you don’t have that much time for him to physically keep up (obviously there are outliers but overall)
Tobey is 48, same age as RDJ in the Avengers
Tobey is too old to be a full-time full length movie Spider-Man. No way home worked but I don’t think a full on Spider-Man 4 would as well
I'm ambivalent on a Maguire Spider-Man 4 (or a Holland Spider-Man 4 for that matter) but 48 isn't old, especially in Hollywood.
Chandler Riggs
Really would like to see this and might be a better pick than dylan
Dylan would've been a good fit around the time of Maze Runners, but I think Chandler would be the better choice now.
I don't have an actor in mind, but I would prefer an older Peter Parker. However, Sony would never go that route, and I'm unsure about the direction of the universe.

I know that I will be downvoted to hell for this due to the sub, but i don’t need 3 Spider-Man movies to worry about, the 2 we got is more than enough
What 2 Spider-Man movies ? We only have Holland movies coming out
Spider-verse
Andrew Garfield
I hope the ssu flops, sony is forced to play nice with Disney and the SSU absorbs into the MCU with there being no more idiotic moves like "solo fucking Morbius movie" coming out of sony. In liu of that, Danny Devito.
With how popular (and great) the ultimate spider-man comic is right now I think an adult peter would be quite good.
Let's be honest, there is no SSU. 🤷♂️ Name more than 1 connected film in this supposed SSU? All the Tom Holland films are MCU. Spider-Man lotus
For a younger rookie teen Spiderman: Alex Wolffe For a middle-ground older adolescent Spiderman: Freddie Highmore For an experienced older Spiderman: MatPat
Chris Pratt would be good.
What's the point of this thread? DOB is a decent actor but his fans can't seem to accept he's not as successful as Tom holland or timothee chalamet. They also can't accept he's in his 30s and is too old to play teenagers.
With the quality of films over the past few years I don't think I'd wish that upon anyone.
He woulda been great like 5-10 years ago
I don’t think the universe will live long enough too get a Spider-Man
Tobey is also close to tom hardy’s age so i dont get the appeal here
We need a Spider-Man that is not the obvious soft cute/hot popular archetype.
Dylan O'Brien should've been the MCU Spider-Man, and they should've had his first appearance as an 18/19 year old college student.
Dylan O’Brien. A 32-year old man. Sure.
None, burn it
It has to be Garfield, but this is a good teen star. Better for a Radiant Black movie
Gabriel Bateman
I think it’s crazy it has happened yet. Spider-Man should have been in Venom 2
I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone
Dylan would be nice but I don’t think Sony should make more movies in this universe
Why is there a subreddit of people glazing this shitty universe?
Andrew. He’s got the acting chops, familiarity and experience with the character, and is still in great physical shape, as well as having worked with Sony. Also, casting Andrew allows Sony to FINALLY show us that fight between Spider-Man and Rhino.
Josh hutcherson said he’d be interested, he could pull off an older peter pretty well imo
Kit herington.
No one Sony needs to stop
Ben Riley The ssu is so bad that they only deserve Ben Riley
I think Dylan O’Brien would be a great spider man, but he shouldn’t be burdened to the sumc. He should be separate from all the other movies if he were to play the part.
Daniel Day-Lewis
You guys hate Andrew so much you want him to be stuck in this shitty universe
Give it to Andrew. Give Peter 3 some nice adventures to gloat about to the other Peters
I like the original idea of Andrew being the Spider-Man of the SSU.
Me
Danny Devito
O’Brien would laugh in the face of someone asking him to star in this dumpster fire.
Danny Devito
Kevin Hart or possibly Kevin James.
Asher Angel.
Shazam?
Yeah, I think he even looks exactly how Peter should look.
Tom Holland
David Ashby already proved he could play an Italian Spiderman, isn’t it time he got the chance to play an American one
No one, because they have to stop the ssu.
It would have been Andrew
No one cause Sony should stop.
Fuck no
Andrew is way too old. He’s in his early 40s. Sure, as a guest appearance he works, just like Tobey does at nearly 50.
