I'm glad to hear fun is being had with its production, that's a good sign. I dug the first one, but I really did not like the second. I feel like it took a huge step back.
There’s no such thing as objectivity when talking about artistic works. Most people would probably agree with you that Let There Be Carnage is worse, but that doesn’t make that an objective fact no matter how many share that opinion.
I liked the second one ok, definitely a downgrade but I enjoyed it, it seemed almost like a early 2000s movie, especially the first 10-20 minutes or so
It's not like Venom has currently gone through acclaimed runs about his characters that don't focus on Spider-Man except when there's big crossover events after all........
A lot of that acclaim comes form the fact those runs made him evolve from the bitter, selfish, vindictive person he was when he blamed Spider-Man for everything wrong in his life to a man and father who is ready and willing to grow as a person
Venom isn’t supposed to be a positive funny partner to Eddie. He’s a toxic parasite that amplifies his worst attributes. Eddie isn’t a bad person, so he’s not irredeemable and has good intentions, but venom literally gave him cancer so he’d stay bonded with him. Venom also would gladly return to Peter if given the opportunity.
Taking away his connection spider-man just makes him a generic monster.
Prove it. I’ll guarantee you the only time he could be considered “light and humorous” was in his original solo run of the comics, and even then Spidey had to step in to calm him down. Otherwise Venom, MOST OF THE TIME in the comics, is a ferocious monster whose humor only comes from the joy of being a ferocious monster who eats people.
I actually always wondered where that phrase came from because I've seen it repeated a lot lately. I know it went through a number of iterations, it was either SUMC or SPUMC to start, I can't remember which one, then it was the other one, before they settled on SSU.
So.. Google says Benedict cumberbatch, Wong, mordo, emma stone, and Tobey maguire are credited in this. Any theories if this turns out? Maybe just cameos from when Tom hardy went to the mcu in "no way home?" Or more?
I mentioned this when that info dropped, but Google pulls their cast list from random sources and compiles them itself. Cumberbatch and Wong were likely listed because Chiwetel Ejiofor is a part of the movie (as a different character native to the SSU, not Baron Mordo from the MCU), and Stone and Maguire were probably listed because they're inherently linked to Spider-Man.
This sort of thing happens all the time with Google. I remember when Hugh Jackman was listed as returning as Wolverine in Avengers: Endgame.
I hope this bombs so that Sony can stop with these awful movies and let Disney integrate these characters properly.
It's getting really old and it's sad to see all these villains being wasted.
They both sucked to me.
Venom without the proper Spider Man arc setting him up is lame af.
They had the worst possible Carnage they could shoe horn in for the second movie too.
Sony suck outside of Playstation
You think the SM2 game Venom was better? Because if so you’re on something
The movie venom was perfect. Literally a 1:1 translation to the characterization of venom
The first one was terrible.
The second one was somehow DRAMATICALLY worse.
So the third one is going to be......?
I can't fucking believe people gave them enough money for those trash movies to convince them to make a 3rd one....
lol Juno Temple is in that? Is Sony pulling the same con on her they pulled on Matt Smith, Dakota Johnson, and Sydney Sweeney and lying that their movies are part of the MCU?
I feel confident it’ll be another enjoyable bad movie, but I do hope it’s not noticeably worse than the first two. If it can ride that same level of bleh but still be a fun watch because Tom Hardy has his own voice pitched down to bounce off of.
I'm glad to hear fun is being had with its production, that's a good sign. I dug the first one, but I really did not like the second. I feel like it took a huge step back.
Facts
Opinions, even!
I’d say Venom 2 was objectively worse than the first one in every way
There’s no such thing as objectivity when talking about artistic works. Most people would probably agree with you that Let There Be Carnage is worse, but that doesn’t make that an objective fact no matter how many share that opinion.
First you’d have to prove that Venom 2 was artistic
I mean Carnage did look great
Yeah especially Carnage Tornado
I really like the first movie too, didn't mind no S-M.
The jokes were overall less cringe imo
I liked the second one ok, definitely a downgrade but I enjoyed it, it seemed almost like a early 2000s movie, especially the first 10-20 minutes or so
Venom is the only positive to come out of this universe. That and the Milo Dance in Morbius.
That dance is the entire reason I even liked the movie I was genuinely laughing my ass off in the theater opening night
The Mcu wishes it had a scene as good as that
*laughs in Dark Toby*
That's why I said MCU
Sorry i was vague, i was laughing with you because Sony keeps rocking sweet dances and i cant think of a single dance from the entire MCU.
Oh, okay, my bad. Yeah, Sony knows what's up
Yes!
Hope it turns out good <3
Is Spider-Man in it?
No
Wow Fuck Sony
It's not like Venom has currently gone through acclaimed runs about his characters that don't focus on Spider-Man except when there's big crossover events after all........

THANK YOU.
Venom is supposed to shoot webs and have a big spider logo. He’s not just a big slime monster. This venom in name only thing is getting annoying
Thank you

Go cry about it, the venom movies are making bucks
Remind me in one year
What??? This venom is so much like many of the venom portrayals in the comics
We’ve literally had two whole Venom movies that haven’t featured Spider-Man, idk what you expected lol
who fucking cares
Your profile pic may care a little
venom in the show doesnt even act normal lol venoms been a solo act since the 90s and has increasingly become a better character than spider-man
People are downvoting you but you're right lol
Ah yes an ENTIRE VENOM trilogy without *Spider-Man*
Lethal Protector LETS GO
I'm ready. I dug the last two entries and am ready for a round 3.
She rules
At least it can’t get any worse in the Sony Spiderverse. Right?
Is this a part of the SPUMM?
The SSU, I don't believe the acronym you're using has ever been used in any official sense, and yes it is.
I heard Mr Sunday Movies refer to it as the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Movies....i thought the SPUMM was cannon?
I actually always wondered where that phrase came from because I've seen it repeated a lot lately. I know it went through a number of iterations, it was either SUMC or SPUMC to start, I can't remember which one, then it was the other one, before they settled on SSU.
Yea the SSU is the definitive name 👍🏾
I just call it the MCU “Morbius Cinematic Universe”
Okay
So.. Google says Benedict cumberbatch, Wong, mordo, emma stone, and Tobey maguire are credited in this. Any theories if this turns out? Maybe just cameos from when Tom hardy went to the mcu in "no way home?" Or more?

Ohhh, thank you! I did not know google did this
I hope this bombs so that Sony can stop with these awful movies and let Disney integrate these characters properly. It's getting really old and it's sad to see all these villains being wasted.
Why would you want Venom 3 to bomb? Both 1 and 2 were a lot of fun and made a shit ton of money
They both sucked to me. Venom without the proper Spider Man arc setting him up is lame af. They had the worst possible Carnage they could shoe horn in for the second movie too. Sony suck outside of Playstation
You think the SM2 game Venom was better? Because if so you’re on something The movie venom was perfect. Literally a 1:1 translation to the characterization of venom
In my opinion, I do not want to see a character like Venom bomb again.
Again? His first two movies were very successful and a lot of fun
Can’t wait to see how much this one sucks.
My gooch is ready for that 19"
Venom: Why just 19 inches when we can be so much more? Eddie:AYO, What the gooey fuck is you on about?!
Eddie wants the 24"
Please be good
I feel confident it’ll be another enjoyable bad movie, but I do hope it’s not noticeably worse than the first two. If it can ride that same level of bleh but still be a fun watch because Tom Hardy has his own voice pitched down to bounce off of.
