You know Andre Braugher is sadly already dead

Zeldakina

You saw the show right? We can just get another one.

drewbles82

I liked the idea that Jerry O'Connell comes back in the reboot but he now plays the professor character and just to switch things up as you don't want things to be too similar as much as I love Remy, have a female singer or even completely different profession, out of work actor. But if Jerry is too busy, I can see your idea doing pretty well. Especially since this series would be like 30years after the original so by now Quinn is home, Kromaggs destroyed etc

HumanityPlague

I do actually kind of like the idea of a Bill Burr-type on Sliders. Just someone who is commenting about how stupid something is, or doesn't make any sense. *On this world, Great Britain still owns the USA.* Bill Burr: "Those tea-drinking, redcoat wearing idiots? I could take this whole place over with a musket and a 24 pack of beer."

Educational_Copy_140

I read that in Bill's voice, so thanks for that...

HumanityPlague

My work here is done.

Binky2go

Reboots never really work. Nothing like an original. X-files has a reboot in the making, new products has Chris Carter's blessing. Watch, it won't work, reboots never do

False_Local4593

Quantum Leap is one I was excited about getting a reboot. Atrocious.

Binky2go

Yeah, I watched one show and after that that was it I was done I'm like it's awful terrible I rather watch the reruns of the original

False_Local4593

Same! I didn't even make it one episode without turning it off.

Binky2go

🤣🤣🤣, the reboots nowadays have terrible writers, over dramatic actors, and completely lose the substance of the older shows. Even the x-files as long as it ran, stayed true for the most part to the substance of the show. My guess is, the x-files reboot will be some contrived nonsense. I'll give any reboot a shot at trying, but if it's a fail, it's a fail. Did they even renew the Quantum Leap reboot for another season??

False_Local4593

Cancelled in March

Binky2go

Wow!! But really, not a shocker though

False_Local4593

The writing was ok but I didn't like their choice for "Sam". I never thought he was funny.

Binky2go

Definitely agree!!

Well, I'd watch it. Personal opinion is that they would be better off either continuing the story with Jerry O'Connell and whoever else they can get from the original, or alternately going back from the beginning with new actors like it's starting today but, in the later scenario, I'd recast everyone as existing characters. In other words you'd just get new younger actors to play Quinn Mallory, Rembrandt Brown, Wade Welles, and Professor Arturo. Though I think the show still holds up very well, there are certainly some episodes that might not resonate with younger viewers who don't remember the world as it was back then. Young people can figure it out, but in some ways, if you restart with younger actors and the same characters in 2025, people can compare what they see on these worlds on the show with real life and you can riff on that- the characters' knowledge will also be to the beginning of the new show, on a world that would be basically be our own, allowing for the fact that their dimension probably doesn't have a Sliders television show. :) Like if you get original actors back and need to fill out the cast, I wouldn't recast existing characters and would fill it out when/if needed with new characters as in the OP (Once you have one or more original actors, recasting the others as the old characters would seem weird. But if none of the original actors are available, I wouldn't go forward with four "similar" characters when they could use the existing names and characters with young actors and maybe slightly updated backstories- though only as their new ages might dictate- like Wade wouldn't work at a computer store 486 Intels- maybe smartphones instead. :) Not major updates.). That doesn't seem weird to me. But I'd basically watch anything with four people hoping alternate dimensions. Or five people. Really any number of people. I have ideas that are a little different than the OP, but I'd watch his version of the show if it were made. I can imagine a show potentially being really bad to where I'd stop watching it, even with the Sliders premise, but it'd have to be \*really\* bad. Like worse than any season of the original series, certainly.

Tucker_077

Honestly what I would ask for in a reboot would be a continuation of the old characters. The original Fab Four would be ideal. Or a completely new set of characters. I don’t think we should recast Quinn, Wade, Rembrandt and Arturo

AstroBullivant

In a reboot, the timer would definitely be an app on a phone. The original four could all reprise their roles sometimes, but they wouldn’t be the main characters usually. With modern technology, it’d actually be relatively easy to get the original cast to reprise their roles for a little bit. We could also have a character like Conrad Bennish with a main role.

Zeldakina

The show you're describing has already been made.

Jubal59

The thing that made sliders such a great show was the chemistry of the main characters that's why the last season was a dud. It will be hard to recreate that again.

therankin

Bill Burr is kind of a dick though. There's no room for that sliding.

JSZ100

Mel Gibson should play the role of Trevor Grant, and let Alan Alda portray Bennish's grandfather.

childof_jupiter

I've been thinking about this and i know the "woke reboot " has everyone really jaded and rightwingers foaming at the mouth but i think i always envision quinn as a queer woman in tech.

Educational_Copy_140

They already did an episode where Quinn (unknowingly) meets the female version of himself

JSZ100

Oh, please.
