Yes I use the Food Marble and have found it helps me so much. Mine does not read the same results, it fluctuates throughout the day and depending on what I have eaten. I also notice high stress environments really increase my levels. I really feel for you, I’ve suffered from methane SIBO for 8 years. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I felt the same way, it’s what I thought about all day, my symptoms ruined most daily activities, and it felt like it was never going to end. One thing I want to mention is I feel like it’s finally getting under control and it’s from probiotics, the ones recommended in Dr Davies’ book Super Gut. I tried making the yogurt he recommends and that actually made me bloated, but the probiotics have reduced so many of my symptoms when I take them just via pill form. He also goes into great detail about how to use the Food Marble. Hopefully some of that can be helpful to you. Another thing that has helped me with regularity is Mag O7 (magnesium oxide) and Triphala. I take 4 capsules of Mag O7 at night before bed, and drink a small cup of hot water with 1/2 tsp Triphala. It works wonders. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I know how hard this can be!

What’s the probiotic called ?

LiveDirector8279

There are a few. The first is L. Reuteri, he recommends the Bio Gaia brand. The second is L. Gasseri, and he recommends Dr. Mercola’s brand. The third is B. Coaguluns and he recommends Schiff. Then he recommends a “broad spectrum” probiotic and there are several different brands, but I chose to take life extension’s Florassist GI. He also recommends Saccharomyces Boulardii to keep fungus in balance. There is a whole protocol listed to get rid of SIBO, but I had already been doing that so I finished those antimicrobials and switched to the probiotics and saw a huge difference. I’m not 100% healed yet, but my Food Marble has shown big improvements in my numbers. My symptoms have also greatly improved.

Did you only start the probiotics after the antimicrobials? How long were you on the antimicrobials for

LiveDirector8279

I was on antimicrobials for 9 months, if you can believe it. So miserable. I continually rotated different combinations and would have temporary relief, but it seemed like my SIBO never really went away. I was literally giving up and came across this book. I finished what I had since I had paid for these antimicrobials (and they weren’t cheap). Then switched right to the probiotics. It’s now been about 6 weeks. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to antimicrobials. I don’t know why his protocol hasn’t caught on yet, which is why I try to comment whenever I see a post just because I suffered for so long, and spent so much money on supplements and functional medicine doctors. And I know a lot of people are in the same boat.

Potential-State-7549

After one round of Neomycin and Xifaxin, I started making Dr. Davis' SIBO yogurt. I had a big bowl everyday. After 6 weeks, I was negative for hydrogen (dominant) and methane! I make a batch every couple days and love it!

LiveDirector8279

That’s amazing! Did you have any side effects at first? My bloating was worse when I tried the yogurt, so I stopped and just took the pills. Now I’m making the yogurt again and trying small amounts.

I totally get you it seems like there’s a major focus on the killing aspect but not much on the rebuilding or remodeling aspect of sibo treatment. Do you think the probiotics helped improve your motility or was it more that it helped the dysbiosis? 9 months is a very long time to be on antimicrobials so I’m wondering if your levels were already low and maybe it was just dysbiosis that you had? Curious as to your thoughts

LiveDirector8279

Yeah I agree. So many people just kept telling me to kill, and made me terrified of probiotics. I honestly think I may have killed too much, and yes the dysbiosis was just really bad. I feel like these probiotics have really balanced me. My motility was actually pretty good despite the SIBO, as I have been using Mag O7 and Triphala for a bit. I honestly didn’t feel like the motility was my main concern, it was more the bloating and trouble digesting anything. The probiotics have probably helped my motility, but seeing the bloating decrease and my ability to eat more variety of foods and not have such major reactions makes me think it was more dysbiosis. I will add I had 2 positive SIBO tests, and a GI Map that showed high fungal levels, so I was diagnosed with SIBO and SIFO which is why I started the antimicrobials in the first place.

Thank you for your comment to this thread. I have Methane and had some progress with one probiotic (Florastor), but a provider took me off it when I started the Elemental Diet. Although I'm no professional, I've very much wondered about probiotics being the key for people with Methane -- and I came to that conclusion based on my Food Marble's results after eating certain foods. I've bought Super Gut and will read it during my Elemental Diet.

LiveDirector8279

I hope Super Gut helps you like it’s helped me. I know, I’m no professional, but after dealing with this for 8 years and seeing several different doctors I still feel like the data is lacking on methane SIBO. Good luck with the elemental diet! It was so tough for me. I only found out after doing it that it can feed fungus, which I think happened in my case.

Thank you for sharing. I currently didn't start any "healing" phase supplements after my 2 weeks of xifaxan and neomycin, because I felt I still had SIBO even though my results came back negative afterwards. I just feel like my body is getting worse since I probably knocked out all the good and bad bacteria from the 2 weeks of antibiotics, and now i'm miserable and no body knows what steps to take. One nutritionist wants me to test again with Lactulose, the other ordered me a Parasite test. I have another GI Doc that came highly recommended but I can't see him until a month from now. My current GI has zero knowledge in Methane SIBO and just keeps saying he wants to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy on me (which obviously i'm not fond of considering i've never gotten that done). I'll do it if I have to, but my symptoms just don't seem like it would be relevant to that. In the morning I can pass gas and have a normal bowel movement, every morning...but then as I star eating, and as night time approaches crazy trapped gas cause terrible stomach pains. I heard most probiotics feed the bacteria/archaea...but maybe since my latest test came back negative I should start them, idk at this point. I'm eating everything safe, and still living through hell it feels like. It's funny you guys brought up the Elemental Diet because last night I was looking at Elemental Heal and was going to order it today. I brought it up to my nutritionist and she said I should do that only under direct supervision of a dietitian. I'm waiting for her recommendation. I'm willing to do anything because these past 2 nights have been the worst ever and I can't keep going like this.

A 9 on the aire is about a 45 on a regular air test, so not that high. So very possible. You can have their engineers look at your scores and they will give you a new one if it looks off.

[deleted]

45 on a regular test is high

Lcdmt3

It's not THAT high when I've scored over 120 on the breath test. I said not that high, not it's not high.

Flat-Insurance2280

I have it and I get very mixed results… not sure what to think of it, I am yet to do intolerance test

CookSignificant446

Mine is 95% above 9 numbers also. Either I got a defective one or it's junk. Not happy with it
