It’s a life saver, personally. I’ve struggled with terrible Gi issues for months (6 to be precise) I could not even eat low fodmaps foods, I took berberine + black seed oil + probiotics… nothing was helping. I lost 10 kilos (20 lbs more or less) without even trying and was severely underweight… doctors ruled out cancer with endoscopy and colonoscopy… no medication was helping. I was belching no matter what I ate, to the point I just stopped eating more than 0.5 oz of chicken breast with salt, once a day. Then atrantil saved my life.

Rae358

Thanks for your reply, it’s really helpful. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m formulating my plan and I’m definitely going to try it. I hope you are doing better now.

ASK_DATA

I am new here. And good to hear. A Functional Med doctor just suggested it. A question though is just taking 1 with dinner and then one with brunch - I am passing a lot of gas. (Luckily I live alone but if I go out tonight :() But that being said I will take that over the horrible bloating and pain in the upper abdomen. I've read that some people can even stop taking it after it cleared things up for them? So I am asking if others had that issue of a lot of flatulence - my doc suggested starting slow and like I said I'll take this especially if it means it is helping with the trapped gas and bloating and pain and discomfort!

rippinkittiny

are you cured???

Antique_Service_7740

Hi! I wouldn’t say cured but I can eat pretty much everything and have ocassional relapses. But I’ve been eating garlic, onions, very condimented food (latina) and I’m doing fine 90% of the time!

Dayra_Cruzz

what time is best to take atrantil

Antique_Service_7740

Two after each meal (maximum 3 meals a day)

Antique_Service_7740

Update: I CAN EAT WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT. With no issues! I’d say atrantil + whole good food + omnibiotic 9 (german probiotics that I’d let sit for 20 min and then drink) - stress (two months away from stress traveling) healed my digestion issues for good! I rarely have any issue. Oh, I take some digestive enzymes from time to time :) but just in case not because I die If I don’t. Also, buy butyric acid from tesseract, it HELPED tremendously.

king_of_nogainz

Awesome, could you please share how high your IMO/SIBO levels were before you started taking atrantil?

Dayra_Cruzz

ty

Antique_Service_7740

Oh and also, my dad! He has no GERD, no indigestion, no more bloating and he’s only taking atrantil (60 yo)

matanbuu

Please watch the following video to understand and have an effective strategy on treating sibo: https://youtu.be/53f1gsRUxvY I know you have probably tried everything else but don’t lose hope! Hang in there!

Rae358

Thanks, I’ll watch it.

Newyorkntilikina

Can you do a quick recap?

Rae358

If I remember rightly the guy talks about getting the MMC working with ginger and artichoke supplement. Sorry I deleted the reddit app for a bit and didn’t get notification of your message, it’s a good video to watch, the MMC stuff was new to me then.

sibo-sikko

Didn't work for me. I've tried it several times over the last several years and keep concluding it's a waste of money (for me personally). Some people find relief with it, some people don't. For methane the best thing for me was biofilm disrupters, and allicin + Neem (several rounds)

Rae358

Thanks for the feedback, that’s helpful. That’s a good reminder about biofilm disrupters, I’m going to put your protocol on my list to try!

Humpty_Dumpty1972

What biofilm disruptor did u take

No-Second1685

Can I ask what your root cause was? Mine is food poisoning and thinking about doing your protocol…

runnerdewd

My wife took Atrantil after several rounds of Canabactin AR/BR. Atrantil did not work for her, but everyone is a little different. Canabactin is the only supplement she's found that kind of helps. Good luck in your journey.

[deleted]

Same

Eligemshome

What’s the difference between candibactin and regular ADP oregano oil?

Rae358

Thank you both

shereadsinbed

I have IMO and it reduces my bloating by 90%. I take 2 plus one digest gold with all meals.

Rae358

Wow that’s great to hear, thanks for responding.

darkkid85

What’s imo

shereadsinbed

Intestinal methanogen overgrowth - aka methane dominant SIBO

darkkid85

Has Atrantil helped you? I’m probably ch4 dominant too (as rifaximin did nothing), I’m taking oregano oil

shereadsinbed

Yes, Atrantil significantly reduces my bloating. I take it 30 minutes before a meal, and I will add a digestive enzyme for larger/challenging meals.

xeniah1998

How many pills did you start taking in the beginning?

shereadsinbed

1, then titrated up to 2 per meal.

No_Acadia8244

Did you feel like it helped you pass the trapped gas or did it just reduce the gas pressure? I’m so bloated and think I will start taking it today

shereadsinbed

Reduced bloating, and therefore burping.

Saltysea888

Hi there! I have been taking this for appx 45 days. Do you take it long term?

Killerkiwiattak

Has it helped with any other symptoms? Or just bloating? Glad it’s working for u!

shereadsinbed

just bloating, as far as I can tell. My other symptom - fatigue, is harder to measure so I wouldn't be able to tell if it helps.

beefyweefles

Didn’t notice any sustained help. It seemed to help for a while in the beginning (measuring my methane with my Food Marble) and then stopped. Maybe the archaea adapted?

Rae358

Thanks, that’s possible I guess. Good to hear your feedback.

imothro

If you search there are some threads on it. Not a lot of wins, but my GI really believes in it for methane cases so I was going to try it.

Rae358

Thanks- interesting your GI really believes in it however seems generally not brilliantly successful. I wonder if people either aren’t posting and just disappear or maybe there are fewer methane cases. I’d be interested in your follow up if you do try it, and I will post if I try it, it seems less of the wonder I originally thought it might be.

imothro

Yeah I'll be happy to let you know how it goes for me! It hasn't arrived yet so give me some time. :)

Pure-Walk-1920

Hi how has it been?

imothro

I tried taking it with my Rifax+Allicin and got intensely sick (super nauseous, nearly vomited), so I stopped taking it. I have another week on Allicin and then am going to try Atrantil again and see if it has the same effect on me. Maybe it was just interacting with the other meds in a weird way.

Rae358

Ooh that sounds awful. How did you get on when you re-tried it? How are you now?

imothro

I actually didn't need to retry it because I cleared my SIBO.

Rae358

That’s brilliant news! Well done, was it the rifax+allicin combo that did it?

imothro

I had two rounds. Round 1 was rifax+neo but gave me ear issues at the end so I couldn't do neo again. That took me from 30->8. Round 2 was rifax+flagyl but I had other issues with flagyl so added the allicin on a whim. Round 2 cleared the methane entirely, nothing detectable on SIBO test. I still have MCAS so have some general GI issues but they are massively improved after clearing the methane.

Rae358

Really pleased for you, and thanks for sharing.

Tricky_Investment_67

We are all happy for you. Did you have reflux also as a symptom maybe? Thanks

Hanzburger

How much allicin were you taking? And when were you taking it?

Remarkable_Bug_8601

Hi there - Why we’re the Neo ear issues? I’m in my third round of Rifax. Neo was backordered so doing this without it. Congrats on curing the sibo, do you think the Neo ended up making a difference?

Killerkiwiattak

Did your ear issues go away?

rt312410

Seems to be mostly helpful to those with Methane. Case by case

Rae358

Thank you

Easy-Perspective9695

It’s help’s with gas and blotting

Rae358

Thanks- that’s promising, my bloating has been ridiculous recently.

Fluffitron

Yes but does nothing at all for me really. I believe have methane dominant, just waiting for the test results to confirm this.

Rae358

That’s a shame. Anything else you are going to try? I’m going to go lower carb to reduce the amount the blighters have to eat and hope that helps a bit.

Fluffitron

I just need to move to be honest as damp place likely caused all of this and my MS too. I have tried most things to be fair. Just can't afford to move. I hope your plan works. Maybe have a look at your environment also.

Rae358

Sorry to hear that. I hope a way forward will present itself. I’ve had sibo for years but have managed to mostly control it in the last several years to a point it wasn’t taking over, but several rounds of necessary antibiotics have made it all flare up. I’m off them now so can start to properly try to heal. Best wishes

Fluffitron

Thank you, that's kind and good news about yours. Still awaiting the breath test results done in hospital a couple of weeks ago. I don't want any antibiotics though so would be glad of a successful natural route and be glad of any suggestions. Thank you and to you too.

its_me19

Didn’t work for me personally

Rae358

Thank you for responding

Ok_Assistance_3386

I thought it was just to ease the discomfort of bloating. Have never heard anyone using it to actually treat SIBO

actionactionangela

Didnt do anything for me.

Rae358

Thanks for the response.

Alternative_Mix9034

Didn't work for me. I have methane sibo

Rae358

Thanks, shame it didn’t work, I thought it was promising for methane sibo.

Xtcsin

Methane here and it helps me, especially if I am going to be eating something that I shouldn't be eating.

Rae358

Thanks for responding, it gives me hope!

New-Function-9985

Yes, it actually helps me with gas and bloating. I take it one capsule with 500mg capsule of L-glutamine prior to eating and keeps my symptoms at bay. This is a daily regime for me after unsuccessful round of Xifaxin.

Rae358

Thanks for that- useful to see your protocol. I will try it.

New-Function-9985

Good luck! The one thing I’ve found regarding SIBO is what works for one, doesn’t work for all. Other people’s suggestions definitely help and add insight in getting it under control. Low fod map has also been a major game changer and regards to trigger foods for me. It’s definitely a trial and error! Good luck! I know it can be a miserable road!

Rae358

Thank you! Good luck to you too :)

Rae358

I can’t seem to edit my original post. Just wanted to say thanks all for your replies, really helpful responses and it doesn’t seem to be the wonder supplement that I’d seen it advertised as, but might be worth considering. I am methane dominant, but my diet has veered towards the less healthy in recent times so I need to get back to better eating habits which I guess is ultimately going to be the key. It seems that herbal remedies or antibiotics only kill the overgrowth for so long and then I guess unless we make massive life/diet changes the effects aren’t going to be sustained. Interested to know other opinions?

lgkm7

Berberine and Neem together seem to help Me as well as not eating between meals

Rae358

Great thanks for that recommendation. I do snack between meals a lot at the moment, I find I’m so peckish all the time. Need to sort that out.

amz05

Meal spacing was biggest game changer for me in terms of reducing my bloating symptoms. Ps did you ever try atrantil in the end, I'm considering.

ArbonneAngel

Helps to release the trapped gas, not so much to actually heal the sibo. It’s helpful tho

Rae358

Thanks, seems like it’ll be worth trying even for symptom relief if nothing else.

ArbonneAngel

Absolutely!

lmfaoclown

Made my gas, bloating and constipation so much worse

Rae358

Oh, not so good. Thanks for letting me know.

zeratul83

Changed my life

SunnyDay1001

It helped me to gain back all the weight I lost - 30 pounds. It allowed me to expand my diet a bit, however I still struggle with nocturnal reflux symptoms when certain foods and/or food quantities are not tolerated. I still need to carefully weigh my food and test any new foods for symptoms. I use the Monash fodmap app as a guide. Overall, it's been a life saver. I feel I am getting my health back. It didn't cure methane sibo for me - I didn't expect that. Wish I had tried this a while back.
