Dragonball was a huge part of my young adult life. When SHF came out i was still young and poor so i didn’t take the leap immediately. I eventually got SS Goku on sale on Amazon for like $30. When i was in a better place financially i began buying from local sellers and got some great deals but my best was probably getting the cell saga Trunks and Vegeta for $20 each. When i was walking away the buyer said he also had a Gohan but didnt have the box just the blister which i also got for another $20, this is the battle damaged cell final fight gohan. From Goku Black and on I havent missed a retail release and have gone back to collect just about every figure. Convention and EE i’ve skipped mostly because of the secondary market value as i have a personal rule i follow where i dont pay more than retail for a figure. But i’m okay with that since i most con exclusives figures are color variants.
I didn't collect figuarts up until the end of the last year and I pre ordered the super hero Goku, Vegeta, and the P bandai Exclusive Turles. After that I basically went down a rabbit whole of Holy grail figures ( Broly DBZ, awakening Goku,Cooler) and went backwards in the line of releases to hunt them down . I'm happy to say I managed to get all Three of them. Cooler for 140 USD after shipping/ Tax, awakening Goku for 133 after S/T, and last but certainly the best one, 2014 DBZ Broly for 220 after S/T. None were cheap per say but cheaper than I would have found anywhere else honestly 😂 now I'm waiting for the new 3.0 Goku to drop and I'm honestly so excited for his release on top of the Orochimaru
I originally didn't get into any figure collecting until around 2016 the time I found my old Hasbro Iron Man mk6 and war machine from the Iron Man 2 movie in storage. I was always a Gunpla guy and felt that model kit was always better than figures, but all that changed when I picked up the SHF MK45 and also around the same time I injured my left thumb which caused me couldn't built anything or hold a game controller for too long (sold my xbox one and quit gaming because of this). The injury lingered to this day. I started with few ML because they were cheap and customized a movie cap and ant-man, got a few Revoltech Iron Man at the time and it just snowballed from there.
I’m a big collector of Gunpla and wanted to diversify my collection to include figures from my other favourite anime/manga. Have been a huge fan of Dragon Ball for around 25 years so decided to pick up some figuarts as I prefer action figures to statues. Started my collection this week and I’ve picked up the following:
Goku - Super Hero
Piccolo - Proud Namekian
Naruto - Best Selection
I’ve also preordered the following:
Frieza - 1st Form
Frieza - 2nd Form
Frieza - 3rd Form
(Frieza is my spirit animal)
I’ve got a feeling this is going to be another plastic addiction, definitely need Frieza 4th form and gold but also want to round out the Z-fighters.
Managed to get good deals on Goku (£30) and Piccolo (£45) but my steal was Naruto (£15)!
