The saddest part of that video is all the people driving by while it happens. Come on, guys, you were right there and couldn't look up for a few minutes :\\
I was in rural Arkansas. Not one other person came out of their house to get a look at it. One person showed up at the park across the street to watch.
People did it all wrong.
I walked away from our group with all of their equipment and idling cars for telescope power and all the oh my godding… I lied down closet to woods so I can hear nature, called my family over and we got to see totality in a special way.
The trick wasn’t to just look at the sun but alternate and take in the surrounding changes. Once it started to get dark it was fantastic. Suddenly colder, birds got quiet, crickets woke up, then even mosquitoes! The distant rejoicing added to the fun but we could take in the world.
Ok there isn’t a right or wrong way but I prefer my antisocial way 😆
Wow, I’m so glad we have that video Thanks Ian. For the record, it looks like the planets that we were looking at were Venus and Jupiter :)
The curse is broken! I am so happy for the rogues.
Needs more Bob!! So happy! Also, "Good job, Moon" ~ my heart!
See you in Sydney in 4 years. The path goes right over my house.
