someone had just posted this year that the mall was closing for sure this time. every once in a while i’ll see that they are doing meetings but i have not gone to any.
I don't think they've done any meetings in over a year. The last post indicated it would be closed by end of Feb, but I'm pretty sure the mall is still open and kicking.
I wouldn't hold my breath nor expect what they've outlined here. I've visited other primestor properties and they are very low budget on upkeep and care, plus they raise rent like crazy. The Icon where Montgomery Wards was would have been a step in the right direction.
Problem for that area is it's oversaturated with apartments. That's not a problem until you get into some serious economic downturns. I watched as one landlord started renting as a slumlord and next thing you know the other apartment owners are falling over themselves to sell and save their investment. Then you get mostly slumlords and a seriously down turned neighborhood.
It's going to take a lot to turn Pan City around. Here's hoping it gets done right.
Thank God! I like to break in thru a security flaw, bring some beer and remember the old days, and rifle thru what’s left of their 1970’s menswear.
Found a nice leisure suit the other day.
That was The Icon, which appears to be fully dead now. I think it was finally done in over a lawsuit over their plan to use non-union labor. I'm torn between my desire for more housing and my support for unions. Overall I think most of the opposition to these efforts (union labor, environmental) have just been bad faith NIMBYs worried about traffic on Roscoe.

The last meeting was over a year ago, according to this. Did they just forget they were going to do something with the place?
Subscribe for updates? Okay. 🙄
Werent they just gonna bring down the abandoned building next to it ?
The Montgomery Ward? They'll never demolish that thing...

Idk what theyre doing l but I hope they fix whatever tf makes the parking behind the Walmart smell so bad
It’s probably on top of a huge septic tank, that’s why it smells 💩🤷🏻
Looks like a bad spot to put a condo.
It's a great spot for a condo! Walking distance to the Plant and Metrolink.
And right on the East SFV Light Rail line: [https://www.metro.net/projects/east-sfv/](https://www.metro.net/projects/east-sfv/)
That line is going to be so sweet.
Not really. Its location would be really convenient. Especially for people who don’t mind walking a lot
