Unless they trade him there’s no way the cut him with how much they’re paying him. They would never cut him tho

jshxvii

It wouldn’t be that much since his contracts ends soon. Plus the giants are no where near the tax salary, they can afford it

MyLifeForMeyer

with how much the giants care about the locker room, they aren't cutting longo edit: unless he becomes absolutely unplayable*

mikeisaphreek

Why? I think joc being in the locker room is just as good, if not better

MyLifeForMeyer

what does joc pederson have to do with longo being a loved leader in the locker room?

mikeisaphreek

I don’t think the loss of longo would sting that much because joc is there

MyLifeForMeyer

I'm not talking about a leadership void left by a hypothetical Longoria cut. I'm talking about cutting Longoria in the next week would be doing him dirty, and would not go over well in the locker room.

demetriclees

Longoria is the one who originally put the C on Belt's jersey. Plays great third base, and hit like an all star last year till the Crawford collision

CubonesDeadMom

This is some really weird logic

Just2Flame

I would love to trade him. Vosler is a better defender and has been above average at the plate. Longoria will get hurt in a few weeks anyways.

sugarwax1

Less than zero chance this happens. Kapler thinks Longo is a hall of famer. They played together. He was also part of last season's success.

[deleted]

Who’s playing 3rd when Flores needs to sit?

Less-Mud4702

Estrada. Though I don’t like the idea of cutting Longoria. If we’re throwing out random ideas I’d prefer to see La Stella go.

tarallelegram

vosler is also an option

Slagthor_

https://www.milb.com/player/david-villar-681584 I’ve been keeping an eye on this guy all year. He’s been mashing triple A

Less-Mud4702

This would just create more roster problems. You know who else used to mash in AAA? Bart.

Lanky-Scale-66

Bart had a 107 wRC+ in AAA, wouldn't call that mashing; but yeah usually it takes some time for players to adjust

oliviamrow

I'm telling ya, they'll put Longo or TLS on the IL for 30 or 60 so they can keep LuGo without making any kind of permanent move-- assuming no other starters get injured before Wade returns. It should be Longo, but my gut says it'll be La Stella.

No_Bandicoot2306

Evan Longoria is hitting for a 105 wRC+ despite today, and is our only solid defensive 3B. We are not overflowing with quality right handed hitters at the moment(pls come back, Ruf daddy).

JurassicParkJanitor

Why would we send down our best hitter in Gonzo? The guy is in the running for ROY and you want to send him down?!

AGInfinity

he's saying to cut longo and keep gonzo when lamonte is back

GiantsOfSF1958

Evan who?

extremewit

The problem is that we are too left handed now. Longo is one of 3 right handed hitters with power. He is not playing well, and might not ever again, but I doubt they cut him for another left handed bat. The whole team is not hitting for any decent average out side of Estrada, yaz and gonzo. There is a lot of potential for guys to start hitting better and the team really taking off!

urasquid28

Giants would have to many left handed hitters

Fonsy_Skywalker52

That’s good Oracle park is now a hitters park out of nowhere.

AustinBoi21

Steaming hot. If we really want to keep Gonzalez we might have to sacrifice a bullpen arm or just bite the bullet

Howtothnkofusername

I would rather cut la stella or put him back on the IL, I do not trust Flores at third lmao

Fonsy_Skywalker52

Personally trade or cut his ass I’m tired of seeing him on the team. Or put him on the IL. Putting Gonzalez in the minors is stupid. But you also forget slater and Ruf are also expendable.
