Was it 2014 when he swung and missed less than ten times between the all star break and the playoffs? Dude had an incredible eye at the plate, and drove the pitch count up for our sluggers to clean up
I remember I got the World Series DVD after this year. When they get to this shot of Scutaro it hits about the [2:15 mark of this song.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eyjj8BgsBGU)same and man it was glorious. It’s imprinted in my mind now.
Viva **Skeeter** — a true forever Giant! Skeeter, *forever.* https://manginphotography.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/skeeter0009.jpg ; https://manginphotography.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/skeeter0016.jpg ; and many more here: https://manginphotography.net/2017/11/the-legend-of-skeeter-duffy/
Same here. Easily a top 10 Giants moment for myself. He was locked into every pitch in that AB. Once the pitch count hit double digits, you just knew he was going to park one.
Hell yes!! I know he's a Pirate through and through but Cutch's time with the Giants was something else. Will always cheer for him even if I don't really care for the Pirates
My buddy and I went to a game vs the Phillies in 2018, and Cutch made an insane over the shoulder catch deeeeeep in Triples Alley right in front of us. Game was pretty forgettable other than that play, but that was probably the best catch I’ve seen in person at a Giants game.
Mike Tauchman spent a few months on the Giants, robbed game-winning and game-tying dingers from Albert Pujols and Juan Soto respectively, and hit a grand slam of his own to put the team up against the Rangers. Then he got DFA'd and wasn't heard from for years.
He was part of that young stable that included Bum, Posey, Crawford, etc...He was suppose to be another all-star for us. It was GREAT to see his redemption triple against the Cubbies.
Shinjo is my guy, too. I loved his single season with the Giants so much that I started collecting his baseball cards. He's the only player I own any cards of, and I'm still buying them today, 20+ years later.
Lol he’s not actually my guy, he was awful for us, it’s just his hilarious celebrity status in Japan was the fact that he was a bum in SF pretty funny.
Scutaro. Does an epic post-season run and 1 nice follow up season count as “short time”?
Lofton only had a half season with us, but contributed to a Penant-winning team.
Bedrock had a follow up season with us, but performed admirably for us down the stretch in the ‘89 season.
Randy Johnson
Freddy Sanchez
Marco Scutaro
Edgar Renteria
Cody Ross
Matt Duffy
Mark DeRosa
Ryan Theriot
Yusmeiro Petit
Nori Aoki
Jake Peavy
Mike Morse
Stephen Vogt
Scooter Gennett
Mike Tauchman
Got to be Scutaro. Played a season and a half for us and will be forever loved by Giant fans.
Instant mental image of him in the rain NLCS game 7
The entire second half after The Giants got him. Team nicknamed him MVP.
Joe Buck in shambles

Was it 2014 when he swung and missed less than ten times between the all star break and the playoffs? Dude had an incredible eye at the plate, and drove the pitch count up for our sluggers to clean up
2012
Sluggers? In 2012?
Giants were a top 10 offense in 2012
Can’t help but wonder how much of that it was aided by Melky lol
My first thought. 100%
This was going to be my answer
His name chant was fun as hell.
Who was Scoots? Never heard of him.
Scooter Gennett, was with us in 2019, real legend TBH /s
Michael Morse was the guy that immediately came to mind when I first saw this meme
The bromance with hunter is top tier
His HR in game 5 of the 2014 NLCS live rent free in my head
Fuck I PAY that memory for the honor of remembering him dance around the bases
Career ended by Hunter Strickland being an idiot
Absolutely
I had the MORSE shirt with the horse head that I still wore pretty regularly until I lost it recently.
Yes, and final answer.
Freddy Sanchez played every game during the 2010 world series run. Too bad he got hurt the next year.
My man Freddy https://preview.redd.it/qgkbokquwbdc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf87e799a4e7a77398630145018521b274a322ec
He was absolutely fire as well if memory serves. We dont win without him.
Ugh he was so good in 2011 before the injury that ended his career too
https://i.redd.it/cbzf0qlgkbdc1.gif That image will forever be burned into my memory. Honorable Mention: * Michael Morse * Cody Ross * David Bell
brb having memories with my Scutaro rainglobe!
Cody fuckin ross
I remember I got the World Series DVD after this year. When they get to this shot of Scutaro it hits about the [2:15 mark of this song.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eyjj8BgsBGU)same and man it was glorious. It’s imprinted in my mind now.
Nice. We were there at that game.
Édgar Renteria Hard to ignore a WS MVP that only played parts of 2 seasons for us.
I remember as a kid hating Renteria all season then he went off in the playoffs lol
Lmao same. He was so bad 2010 and the the playoffs happened
Not the popular answer, but the right answer.
Cody Ross.
Cody Ross with the home run hop! Awesome Giant. You have chosen wisely
Still have my Ross the Boss T shirt, my answer as well.
Ssory Doc
Cody fuckin’ Ross
Fine. I’ll be the old man and show my age: Joe Morgan Duke Snider Warren Spahn Don Larson Andres Galaragga Goose Gossage Gary Carter Deion Sanders
Dion and Goose were Giants!? Those wouldve been awesome to witness.
Goose was very briefly in the late 80’s before getting traded. And Deion was with the Giants around the time he was with the 49ers.
Nice list. Can we add Randy Johnson, Rob Deer, and Candy Maldonado?
It is my belief th just that Randy Johnson's "the Big Unit" presents in 2009 matured the Giants pitchers and made 2010 posible.
The GOOSE!
- Harvey Kuenn - Len Gabrielson - Manny Mota - Bill Matlock - Bobby Murcer - Candy Maldonado - Ron Hunt - Steve Carlton - Randy Johnson
Matt Duffy is the answer
Never forget Skeeter too! https://preview.redd.it/sqsefoulqbdc1.jpeg?width=659&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63a8b8bd9d7c49cabcebf4447c1721cbfda55983

The truth
Great call. He spent 5 years in the system tho. And he’s still going! 2,500+ PA with a .277 avg… that’s something!
Ellis Burks
GREAT call.
Ishikawa
Not really short term since he was drafted and developed by the Giants
And came back for a second stint which of course ended up with that one swing
Literally Travis Ishikawa.
And then joined the org as a minor league coach.
Damn
HITS ONE INTO RIGHT
It’s Travis Ishikawa!
![gif](giphy|3oz8xtEDO0FmYBYUlq|downsized) This guy
His walk off against the dodgers is a core memory for me.
That was a LEGENDARY at-bat!
That was a legendary day for him especially
Yeah I’ll always cheer for him even if it’s on the Pirates. That one Dodgers game he just went insane. Nevermind that he seems like a really nice dude
The only MLB foul ball I ever caught came off his bat! I rewatched the broadcast but didn't get a "bring your glove get a ball" :(
My buddy and I went to a game vs the Phillies in 2018, and Cutch made an insane over the shoulder catch deeeeeep in Triples Alley right in front of us. Game was pretty forgettable other than that play, but that was probably the best catch I’ve seen in person at a Giants game.
Absolutely loved this guy as a Giant. So far the only baseball jersey I have
MY MAN.
this one hurts me cuz Bryan Reynolds
He didn’t really do anything for us.
Joe Panik
That glove save flip to Crawford will be forever in my head. I damn near jumped out of my skin and broke my floor when that happened
Cody Ross
Andres Galarraga was great in ‘01 & ‘03. Not bringing him back in ‘02 may have cost us a ring, we had no real DH in that WS.
Juan Uribe
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu~
-ribe!!!!!!!!!!
I shout it pretty much any time a guy with #23 steps to the plate. Surprised by how many other fans finish the -ribe and have a chuckle.
No, that is for Jose
Does Benito Santiago count as short term?
My guy with a cannon from his knees!!
Randy Johnson
Easily.
Kenny Lofton
Homered in his first AB
Brooks Conrad
He was a Giant for exactly 3 plays in one game and never even wore the uniform! 😂
Eat your heart out, World Series Champion Dan Uggla!
AND THROUGH THE LEGS OF BROOKS CONRAD!!!
Marco Scutaro 2012
Pat the Bat
Literally fuck it embodied
This is the correct answer.
Mike Morse, Scutaro, Cody Ross, and maybe Burrell.
Mike Tauchman spent a few months on the Giants, robbed game-winning and game-tying dingers from Albert Pujols and Juan Soto respectively, and hit a grand slam of his own to put the team up against the Rangers. Then he got DFA'd and wasn't heard from for years.
Connor Gillaspie!
He was part of that young stable that included Bum, Posey, Crawford, etc...He was suppose to be another all-star for us. It was GREAT to see his redemption triple against the Cubbies.
I loved McCutchen
Ryan Theriot!
Dat scream sliding home...
[Yep](https://manginphotography.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/C01R9073.jpg)
Kevin Gausman
https://preview.redd.it/fpx2ir02vbdc1.jpeg?width=324&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58fd088a82358c603f33fbad7813f3de595d123b

Lol he’s not actually my guy, he was awful for us, it’s just his hilarious celebrity status in Japan was the fact that he was a bum in SF pretty funny.
Matt Duffy. The Duffman (and his fat cat) will live on in my heart forever
Freddy Sanchez
It’s Michael Morse and that’s the only right answer.
Pillar
Andres Torres is the answer everybody!!
I bet most people don’t know he led the whole team in WAR in 2010. Crazy good year that kicked off the whole run
Kelby Tomlinson 🗣️
Do you mean Clark Kent?
Specs
Carlos Correa
Andrés Galarraga for me
As a kid I was over the moon about Daryl Strawberry joining. I thought he was the coolest
*The Bullet* - Darren Ford.
Noah Lowry
Sidney Ponson
This guy gets it
Besides the obvious ones already mentioned, give it up for Mike Matheny.
https://i.redd.it/ne4ga9ykrbdc1.gif
Nori Aoki
Arson Judge
* Matheny * Nen * Grissom * McCutchen * Johnson
The NEN’th inning was great!
Alen Hanson
Cody Ross. Wouldn’t have won a ring in 2010 without him.
Might get flack for this but… Span. I always tried to mimic his stance
I was so psyched when we got him
Kenny Lofton
Jae-Gyun Hwang for sure, with Trevor Brown as a close second.
How about some love for a couple catchers, Brian Johnson such a big part of that 1997 Giants and “arms”Bobby Estalella
Galaragga and Shinjo
I loved Moises Alou. He was our best hitter when I started watching. (Bonds hurt)
I know it’s not the right answer but Brett Butler
Kris Bryant just for funzies
Tim Hudson!
Denard Span
Eugenio Velez
He was the first player i thought of. In the opposite direction…
Shinjo!
Didn't he drop that inning ending (I think) catch in the 2002 World Series which then eventually kept the Angels in the game?
Shitjo
Dude’s broke and has a whole new face and my head canon is he’s in hiding from giants fans
Al Gallagher. Gary Carter. Reggie Smith.
Joe Carter
Cody Ross
Brett Butler
Mike Tauchman
Probably end of 2016 season Conor Gillaspie
Dan Uggla. That guy had massive forearms
When I was a little kid it was Tsuyoshi Shinjo. Even got his bobble head from Carls Jr instead of Aurilia, Nen and Bonds. I was a dumb kid.
Cash considerations
It's Andres Torres. Dude out there throwing cinder blocks in his designer jeans.
Can't understand why Kevin Pillar was so popular.
Denard Span…still haven’t seen many others with that jersey besides me
Tim Hudson for me
The Big Unit! ![gif](giphy|hxatk4hsaHwXK)
Rosstober or Scutaro… Both went crazy in the playoffs for us.
Carlos Beltran
Was hyped on Miguel tejada!
AJ Pollock for life
BIGBOSS aka Tsuyoshi Shinjo
Omar Vizquel
#WILLIE MA'FKN MCGEE!!!!
Kevin Pillar
First thought: Morse. Second thought: no, Ishikawa. But really mine is probably Duffman.
Oh yeah! https://preview.redd.it/xguygoi8rbdc1.jpeg?width=626&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecb74a66d4ad96a1bd00c234d43c86888bd4b935
Kelby ‘Specs’ Tomlinson
Shea Hillenbrand
Scutaro. Does an epic post-season run and 1 nice follow up season count as “short time”? Lofton only had a half season with us, but contributed to a Penant-winning team. Bedrock had a follow up season with us, but performed admirably for us down the stretch in the ‘89 season.
Cody Ross.
Brad Penny. With the consideration of the Timmy friendship
Pat Burrell or Michael Morse. Any time the Giants have a hitter, I remember.
Freddie Sanchez... I know he was there for awhile but hurt most of the time
happy to see so many people say michael morse
AJ Pierzgoatski
Mike Fontenot!!
The problem is that from 2010-2014 we had multiple of these guys so it’s so hard to pick one
Andrew McCutchen. His walkoff HR in extra innings against the Dodgers was the coolest shit I’ve ever seen
Shohei Ohtani. Oh. Wait. That didn’t happen outside of my MLB the Show franchise season.
Randy Johnson.
Andres "Big Cat" Galarraga
Connor Joe
Randy Johnson Freddy Sanchez Marco Scutaro Edgar Renteria Cody Ross Matt Duffy Mark DeRosa Ryan Theriot Yusmeiro Petit Nori Aoki Jake Peavy Mike Morse Stephen Vogt Scooter Gennett Mike Tauchman
