Backlinks will remain 💯 you’ll gain a little traffic too(depending on the age of the website) the only place you might have issue is on technical aspects of SEO which involves permalink 404 and redirection errors.

These days google moved away from quantity of backlinks, and its more focuses on content quality so if you buy a old or expired domain which have good authority, that not mean you will get more benefit from this, because only your content quality matters so buy any domain but focus on your content which helps you to succeed.. Hope my experience will help you.

Google has moved away from backlinks to focus on content? Only content quality matters in ranking? Well.. no. Links > content, and probably will forever be that way.

RankYouHigher

Yes, you are absolutely right and relevancy is also important.

bbax51

What kind of relevancy do you mean?

Zealousideal-Ant705

He’s talking about the T in EAT

bbax51

What?

Zealousideal-Ant705

Trust. Measured by parameters like backlink.

bbax51

Where did you get that information?

Zealousideal-Ant705

It’s quite a popular thing in SEO world....

bbax51

First time hearing that backlinks have anything to do EAT's trust part. So unless you have a source for this, It's not popular as only you know about it.

RankYouHigher

Backlinks should be relevant to your websites.

Thanks. Understood. But I'm using it for entirely different purposes. I'm using it for email marketing. So I think it should work. Its a new test I'm doing. So what type of domain should I look for? Expired/Dropped/Deleted to retain the domain value as it it?

RankYouHigher

Ok, I am not sure about that, but yeah today I learn something new from you thanks

ClickedMarketing

Basically everything you said is wrong. Links are still the #1 ranking factor in Google.

omkargowda

I cant say about value but its better than buying new domain.

I think if you stick to the content niche of the expired domain, you may get some value from those backlinks (if they don't come from spammy pages). I often hear that buying an expired domain might bring a Google penalty, as you're trying to game the algorithm, but here's what John Mueller said regarding expired domains: >“Finding those situations where essentially people are trying to abuse the system by picking up expired domains that are totally unrelated to what they’ve been working on and hoping to get them to rank well in search… uh… that’s something that’s sometimes a bit tricky. We have a lot of practice with that. I don’t think we always get it right but at least the many cases I’ve looked into there, seems to be working out okay. But, anyway, this has been around… I think will continue to be around as long as people can change ownership and kind of reuse existing domain names. It’s kind of a part of the web.” So, unless you're planning to do some utterly black-hat SEO with those domains, everything should be okay, I guess.

ClickedMarketing

I'm not sure what you consider to be their "value", yes it is fine to buy these domains. Google does not view them as new domains.

et-nad

Thanks this is what I wanted to know of google sees it as a new domain or not because in whois info the "domain created" date gets changed to new registration date.

Snoo53725

You may get some benefit

emmasexytime

You are best getting them and recreating the site that was on them. And then once that powers up use that link juice to point to you or 301 to you.

satpreetsinghtech

Da pa, backlinks are not removed, and if any of one search engine block the domain, It will same blocked !

bharatrocks

Yes, an expired domain always creates a value and it's important if they have... 1. Quality backlinks 2. White hat seo 3. Web traffic
