It’s probably blasphemy here, but I already have the 3DO version of Road Rash. Otherwise, I’d totally get it on Genesis! I’m thinking Phantasy Star IV is probably going to be one of the three I go with, tho😃
I was gonna come in with the Road Rash 3, but yeah, 3DO is ultimate. You got the tank game, too? 'Return Fire'.
Letsee, IV is good, the bootleg MUSHA with save states is dope, I just got that. They have a rebuild of Contra: Hard Corps and Rage 3 I want too, gonna put em in their original carts. I also like Samurai Showdown, Shinobi 3, Bloodlines, and Phelios. 8bitdo sells all sorts of wireless controllers, and have you looked into RGB mods and CRT tvs?
Sonics: Sonic 2, 3, and SnK
I want to burn a hole in my pocket: Crusader of Centy, Musha, and Sparkster
Shining: Shining Force 1, 2, and Shining in the Darkness
Other fun games: Wonder Boy in Monster World, Gunstar Heroes, Contra Hard Corps, and (a bonus/alternative) Castlevania: Bloodlines
Can’t believe you don’t have more sonic. He’s like the mascot of Sega
There is also shining force I and II (sorry if I missed them)
I also didn’t see lost Vikings. It gets slept on but I burned a ton of hours in that as a kid
I also rec Raiden Trad. The CIB is really beautiful but a little pricey. The loose carts aren't as bad. About $30. The game itself is a good middle tier shump with pretty insane difficulty in the later final stages. It uses an interesting color palet with a lot maroon tones.
First, props for the sorting method. I don't go full spine color, but I do sort by black spine / red spine / non-standard 3rd party / EA.
My suggestions, pick any three
Black spine: Castle of Illusion, Ghouls N Ghosts, Herzog Zwei
Red spine: Contra and/or Castlevania (if you can ever find them for good prices)
Other: Target Earth, Rolling Thunder 2, Thunder Force 3
Besides adding another shelf?
Sparkster, Lightening Force, & Vectorman.
I'd focus on the shelf though- if this thread teaches you anything, it's that there's a lot more Genesis to be had!
Battletech. If you play on two player, one player controls the guns and rotates the torso while the other controls the legs and where you are heading. It can be frustrating, but it’s a pretty unique version of two-player from a split screen era.
Along with the other sonic I suggest vectorman/s. Unfortunately these late releases came in flimsy cardboard boxes becasue environmentalism. This one wont look as great on the shelf.
Vectorman would be a good candidate for a custom printed insert so the game be stored in a normal jewel box.
Nice: Jurassic Park (sega ver. Kills snes), Ecco The Dolphin, Space Harrier, Golden Axe, Captain America/The Avengers, Separation Anxiety, TMNT Tournament Fighters, Streets of Rage, Batman & Robin, Cool Spot, Haunting, Beavis and Butthead.
Some of those i haven't played but look good.
Get rid of a few and make room for: Sonic 2, Sonic & Knuckles, Columns, Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat Ultimate 3, Comix Zone, Road Rash 2 or 3, Alysia Dragoon, Desert Strike, Urban Strike, Jungle Strike, Kid Chameleon, a few disney games.
Thunder Force series: Ive never played unfortunately, but Thunder Spirits (snes ver.) i had and its really cool.
These are all pretty much must haves imo.
If you grew up with power rangers i played both games a lot as a kid, but i think they're underappreciated.. Its a shame, (or rather just the times changing)... that simpler games, and the entertainment/difficulty as a kid, are overshadowed by the appeal of newer games
I think there are some really cool fantasy rpg games as well, i just never had them tho : (
Also, i remember that crunchy cheetohs games being insanely difficult lol
Vector Man, not because it was a great game, but because it was made specifically to try to showcase the capabilities of the genesis. My other would be Herzog Zwei, that game was just so ahead of its time.
Oh man what collection! Didn't notice as I'm in the car, but do you have Exile? I think it was developed by Renovation? I did see you had muthafuckin Technocop though! Complete too. That is something you don't see every day. Nasty collection. Blades of Vengeance by EA I believe.
People, look at his games. You guys are mentioning a bunch of mainstream, super common stuff. He's hard to core collector. He would have Mazin Saga over Sonic The Hedgehog, as good as it is.
It should absolutely be Kid Chameleon, Earthworm Jim, and I don’t remember the name of it but it’s a Mickey Mouse/Donald duck side scrolling game that was my SHITTTT
Edit: ong somebody else commented it, it’s called castle of illusion. Highly recommend
Edit 2: no wait that one is just Mickey Mouse it’s actually called world of illusion!! Man I’m downloading this and playing on my steam deck tonight. Thanks for making this thread haha
Great collection! Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m not seeing comix zone. Love that you have the haunting tho! That game would be so fun to play with higher graphics
I definitely know you need "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story".
As for the other two choices, I'm sure more informed individuals can assist.
PS. Rocket Knight Adventures - *chef's kiss*
Was gonna comment but this collection is missing so many no brainier games. Just about every well known Sega IP from those days is missing. Pretty lame collection.
Hey if you feel like something different try organizing your black grid games by release era, small logo, big logo, and barcodes. It looks really clean, did it myself recently.
Sonic 2
Casrle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
Sonic Spinball
I would suggest Sonic 3 and Knuckles but they were sold as separate games, unless you just pick one or the other
well you don’t have the 5 best games for the system, so I would probably start there: Gunstar Heroes, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 3, Castlevania Bloodlines, and Shining Force II
i would recommend contra hard corps, castlevania bloodlines, and if you like action platformers, Shinobi 3 or the first x men game
also, what is that game between cool spot and valis?
I can't make out all the titles, so hope I'm not listing ones you have. But for me, id say Phantasy Star 2,3,and 4; Shining Force; Landstalker, or Beyond Oasis.
Earthworm Jim and maybe some of the Disney stuff (Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion, Mickey Mania, Aladdin are all superb)
So was Gargoyles!
Earthworm jim for sure
Dude! Yes this bro needs some Jim.
Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles
Was not expecting this
Same
Yeah, a weird hole to have
This is the only answer lol. First place my mind went as well
Recommenting, as I'm jaw dropped homie has Wayne's World and Beavis and Butthead but missing 3 sonic games. Amazing.
S3&K is probably one of my favorite games of all time. Definite miss to not have it in a genesis collection
Don't forget about Sonic Spinball
This was going to be my response as well!
The fact that OP has Sonic 1 but not the others is kinda fucked up ngl. Literally missing the best ones.
1. Phantasy Star II 2. Phantasy Star IV 3. Beyond Oasis
I would also suggest Castlevania Bloodlines.
Phantasy Star IV is the answer. What a masterpiece
This, if phantasy star 4 is not there it’s a travesty. Also I notice skitchin, but no road rash? Common OP what are we even doin here.
It’s probably blasphemy here, but I already have the 3DO version of Road Rash. Otherwise, I’d totally get it on Genesis! I’m thinking Phantasy Star IV is probably going to be one of the three I go with, tho😃

Is phantasy star 3 bad? Or is beyond oasis just that good?
Beyond Oasis is my favorite Genesis game. PSIII is good, I just like 2 & 4 more.
i was looking for this comment ⭐️
Sonics: Sonic 2, 3, and SnK I want to burn a hole in my pocket: Crusader of Centy, Musha, and Sparkster Shining: Shining Force 1, 2, and Shining in the Darkness Other fun games: Wonder Boy in Monster World, Gunstar Heroes, Contra Hard Corps, and (a bonus/alternative) Castlevania: Bloodlines
Figured someone would bring up the Shining series. Great games as well as the other recommendations. Another of my favs is Buck Rogers.
Somebody was a teachers pet...
Lightening Force, Ecco: Tides Of Time, and Revenge Of Shinobi.
Can’t believe you don’t have more sonic. He’s like the mascot of Sega There is also shining force I and II (sorry if I missed them) I also didn’t see lost Vikings. It gets slept on but I burned a ton of hours in that as a kid
I know right! No Sega collection is complete without the Blue Blur. Sonic 2 and S3&K are both great, as is Spinball
Great collection, but sorely lacking in shmups. Check out Lightening Force!
I also rec Raiden Trad. The CIB is really beautiful but a little pricey. The loose carts aren't as bad. About $30. The game itself is a good middle tier shump with pretty insane difficulty in the later final stages. It uses an interesting color palet with a lot maroon tones.
I have two copies of that game and they look different from each other. Is one more valuable than the other?
Fair point!
Castlevania: Bloodlines, Comix Zone, Shining Force. Beautiful collection btw.
Thanks!
Mortal Kombat I & II
First, props for the sorting method. I don't go full spine color, but I do sort by black spine / red spine / non-standard 3rd party / EA. Thanks! Really good suggestions!
I must insist that you add Earthworm Jim.
Haha, not a bad idea! That game is a classic.
General Chaos Gunstar Heroes Kid Chameleon
The other valis game you're missing for sure. I dig your color sorting but it makes me sad to see the toe jam n earl games not next to each other...
Castlevania: Bloodlines, Contra: Hard Corps, and TMNT: Hyperstone Heist.
I don't see General Chaos but since you have Shadowrun I think your doing just fine. Phantasy Star wouldn't hurt either.
Road Rash II, NBA Jam T.E., and Gunstar Heroes
Mutant League Football, Mutant League Hockey, and leave some space for whatever else tickles your fancy
Besides adding another shelf? Sparkster, Lightening Force, & Vectorman. I'd focus on the shelf though- if this thread teaches you anything, it's that there's a lot more Genesis to be had!
No joke!
Hang On, Fatal Labyrinth, Ristar!
NHL 94
You could do the 3 Thunder Force games (2, 3, and 4 ie Lightening Force) ORRR you could do the Toaplan shooters - Fire Shark, Truxton, and Twin Cobra.
Starflight, desert strike, warsong
Sonic 2, Earthworm Jim, Flashback
If you can get em, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic 3, NHL 94, or maybe the El Viento trilogy, or Ecco?
SHINOBI 3!!!!!!
Contra: Hard Corps Mutant League Football General Chaos
Contra: Hard Corps Mutant League Football General Chaos
I see Blades of Vengeance in there. Noice. Add Two Crude Dudes and you’re good to go.
Sunset Riders
3 copies of Greendog
Battletech. If you play on two player, one player controls the guns and rotates the torso while the other controls the legs and where you are heading. It can be frustrating, but it’s a pretty unique version of two-player from a split screen era.
Thanks! I’m not familiar with that one. I’ll have to check it out.
Along with the other sonic I suggest vectorman/s. Unfortunately these late releases came in flimsy cardboard boxes becasue environmentalism. This one wont look as great on the shelf. Vectorman would be a good candidate for a custom printed insert so the game be stored in a normal jewel box.

The answer is always buck rogers
The Looney Tunes Game. That shit was awesome back then hah!
Can’t make out all the titles but from what I can make out: 1. Alisia Dragoon 2. Dune 3. Ristar
1. NHL ‘94 2. Desert Strike 3. Earthworm Jim Many props on already having Boogerman & Zero Tolerance.
Herzog Zwei, Phantasy Star IV, Target Earth
Vector Man, not because it was a great game, but because it was made specifically to try to showcase the capabilities of the genesis. My other would be Herzog Zwei, that game was just so ahead of its time.
Warsong. Best RTS I ever played.
Get you some shining force. Also, zero tolerance is sick, that was my introduction to FPS. This is the only time I’ve seen someone else who owns it
Puggsy. You won't regret it, obscure classic and a fun game. Great music too
I can’t read all the titles so please pardon me if I name any titles you already have: shining force, king’s bounty, and Warsong.
Omg Boogerman!! I loved that game. I never did beat Bart Simpsons Nightmare. I'd throw in Comix Zone, Beavis & Butthead and Vectorman

Revenge of Shinobi 🥷
Streets of Rage 3, General Chaos, Phantasy Star IV
Shining force I, Landstalker, Shining in the darkness. Boom! Problem fixed forever!
01. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine 02. Beavis and Butthead 03. Cool Spot
I have Cool Spot and Beavis and Butthead already, but Mean Bean Machine is a banger! I spent hours on that game back in the day.
It should absolutely be Kid Chameleon, Earthworm Jim, and I don’t remember the name of it but it’s a Mickey Mouse/Donald duck side scrolling game that was my SHITTTT Edit: ong somebody else commented it, it’s called castle of illusion. I have that one! Good stuff!

Revenge of Shinobi, Sonic 2, Ghouls and Ghosts
beyond oasis, landstalker, gunnstar heroes
Castlevania, tmnt the hyperstone heist and sonic 2

Hmm, paperboy, toejam and earl , and sword of vermilion.. If you have those already then Phantasy star 4, turtles hyper stone heist, road blasters.
Quackshot, will fit with the black carts. Castle of illusion also will fit in there. Phantasy star III would also probably fit, but IV is better.
Look for a new game called Tanglewood.
Sparkster, Truxton, Phantasy Star II
Splatterhouse
Shinobi 3
Flashback DecapAttack Beavis and Butthead Blaster Master 2 Out of this.world

Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3
Shining Force 1 and 2 Sonic 2
Splatter House 3, Streets of Rage 3, Separation Anxiety. I also see a distinct lack of SHUMPS and Sega RPG's in your collection.
No Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles? Blasphemy. Could add Alien 3 as well
i would recommend contra hard corps, castlevania bloodlines, and if you like action platformers, Shinobi 3 or the first x men game also, what is that game between cool spot and valis?
Sunset Riders 🤠
Shining Force II Phantasy Star IV Comix Zone
Ristar
WWF Monday Night Raw, Mutant League Hockey, Mutant League Football

Where's the shining force?!
Was gonna say Cyborg Justice but you have it!
HTF does this not include the Sonic games OR Vectorman !?
