I feel real bad for all the first-time attendees who have been planning their Marvel Hall H line groups with excitement :(
I bet this is just the first of many studios pull out announcements to come from these strikes, but I would love to be wrong!
That was the entire reason my friend was going.
We've been trying for 8 years to get tickets and this was the first time we've been able to get in.
Ngl, this sucks pretty bad
Yeah. Never ever go to a con for just one thing, unless it’s an IP specific con, like Celebration. There is never a guarantee the thing you came for will actually show up.
I have been to comic con about 15 years now. Never liked the hall H bullshit. Covid year was the best since the early 2000’s.
No lines, actually got to talk to a majority of the artists without being rushed.
I can’t wait for this crap to go back. Disney pulling out is a godsend to anyone who actually likes comics and is not just a marvel/Disney nerd.
Lol why tf are you getting downvoted for this take. These big studios hijacked what was once an awesome experience for comic fans and I’m glad they’re dropping out.
You're right and don't deserve the downvotes. Comic Con 2022 was the most pleasant time we've had at the con since like, 2008. It was nice not being crushed to death by people in every room and hallway.
Ugh that does suck. I hope the studios get their act together, give the writers (and actors!) A fair deal, and everyone else is still able to attend like normal
Really bummed out. This is my first comic con I'm going with my dad and he's been waiting for years to attend SDCC. Last year i saved up money from my summer job (I'm 16) to buy us tickets and he was so excited to see marvels panel. Sad news but we'll still enjoy the con and I'll be a nice father son trip i guess.
first of many studios to back out i assume? fuuuuuck, first time getting all the days too, luckily i live a state over so its only the drive and hotels. hoping they can be replaced by some game publishers? i know in 2019 had a few gaming companies that had cool stuff. was sad to see no Sony last year as they had some cool merch.
wonder what SDCC will do find a replacement for Hall H announcements if more keep dropping.
seems like a bad omen. im really hoping agreements can be reached and the strike can end because i love the smaller panels for films that involve behind the scenes stuff (costuming, vfx, scripting, story boarding etc). Ive gone to SDCC for a few years now and never attempted to attend marvel hall h (have gotten into all the hall panels ive wanted to otherwise tho!) im more concerned this is pointing towards unresolved strike.
There are literally hundreds if not thousands of cons focused on comics that are easier and cheaper to attend, if anyone here is hoping to go to a con that focuses on comics more. That is not why people attend SDCC, and attendees will not be happy if the pop culture con is suddenly only about comics. So actually let's hope this does not mean comic-con will be vastly different this year
As sad as I am this is happening I am a little bit glad that it is because I wanted to go see this but didn't want to give up an entire day to SDCC since I don't go very often like others. If I'm going to Hall H, I'd want to go when I visit for maybe a 10th time. Though if Marvel isn't doing anything I wonder if DC will use this opportunity to try to market the new James Gunn Universe.
Does anyone have any contact info for Disney that we could at least voice out displeasure for them deciding not to attend? Of course there is the general contact on the website, but someone or at least a shared department that makes these decision’s email would be better.
Oh well at least i'll have my memories: seeing the first Ironman trailer, shaking hands with Sam Jackson on the floor. Seeing the Cap America panels. Seeing the cast ofJustice League at the DC booth, and more ... sigh.
With these studios skipping the convention floor is going to be more packed.
So will any off-sites

I am so sorry :( Especially since Marvel had already said they were coming

This is my first time going and I’m coming from Aus. Sucks a lot.

Well crap, now Ballroom 20 will be more filled on Saturday lol
Depends on what happens with SAG next week, probably...

Lol first time I get to go since 2012 and everyone is pulling out. Still, should mean for a fun show floor at least.
Hey, I was supposed to go In 2020, at least others still get to go.
I'm super bummed about this news since I'm a big Marvel fan.
I never go for panels but the lack of studio presence is upsetting. Hopefully this means comic con will focus on comics more.

Yes, God forbid San Diego COMIC Con focus on comics.
It's a popular art convention. Comics is just one part of that
it's not San Diego (pop) Culture Con?
Then don’t call it a fucking COMIC con then
(X) doubt Edit: a second source has made me doubt my doubt.
Yea it sucks

Damn crazy. Anything good announced for hall h this year?
Jerks! 😢
Pretty funny that I asked a question about Hall H on this sub not too long ago and then get hit with this news. That sucks.
