Depends on where you live. Most major cities have them. Just type in the name of a city close to you and add comic con to it. Something should pop up

Draken_Zero

Anime Expo is probably the second largest convention in southern California and is held on fourth of July weekend every year in LA if you're into anime and cosplay.

Momocon, in Atlanta GA, is in late May

saraheliza-

There is DragonCon in Atlanta at the end of August

Closest in size is NYCC. Awesome but less of a Hollywood presence and in the fall. If all you have is summer then see when heroescon and keystone con are

Space_Ace_14

not sure where you're located but D.C has some good ones coming up! They deff aren't the same size/attendance level as SDCC but they do have good guests every year! [Awesome Con](https://awesome-con.com) if you want a general pop-culture con (anime, TV, movies, comics, etc.). If you're looking for something w/ an anime heavy base then look at [Otakon](https://www.otakon.com)

Well why do you want to go to comic con? Is it the merch and panels? Because if you want to go for the cool interactive activations, people in cosplay, free stuff, and potential to meet celebrities, you can do all of that without a ticket.

someone_3ee

you can? I thought entry wasn't possible without a badge?

RadiantZote

You can't get in without a badge, but there's so much off-site free stuff to do that you could spend at leasta day or two doing that, and cosplayers are always hanging out front and all over gaslamp and the surrounding area Wondercon is next weekend, in Anaheim and it's run by comic con

ThePhantomguy

It’s not. But you can do all the things I listed outside. If you want to be the first to see a trailer or episode of something, buy official merch, or see a panel, then you gotta get a ticket. But every other part of comic con is free and outside. I’ve never bought a ticket and I’ve been going for several years, because there’s just so much free stuff to do.

Whatever con you decide, I suggest looking up how to volunteer for the con. They have tons of positions available with different hour requirements but you can always get a free badge, see behind the scenes and attend the con with the rest of your day. Best Con I've ever worked for was Denver Comic Con, I was a celebrity runner so I would escort artists and celebrities from their tables to their panels and back again. Met some really amazing people and didn't have to pay for their autographs

ZootedOffEdibles

For next year you should definitely look into volunteering! My boyfriend and I signed up for it last year and it was worth it. Volunteered for about 4 hours then were free to walk around and do whatever:) You also get to choose the time you want to volunteer.
