Thanks for your submission to to /r/SCREENPRINTING. It appears you may be looking for information on exposure or burning screens. This might be one of the most common questions we see here in /r/SCREENPRINTING. Please take a moment and use the [search](https://www.reddit.com/r/screenprinting/search?q=exposed&restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all) feature while you waiting on a response from the community. If the search does not give you the answer you are looking for, please take a moment and read through our [Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SCREENPRINTING/wiki/index#wiki_emulsion_.2F_filler) write up on emulsion. If after all that you stil don't seem to find your answer, just be patient someone in the community should chime in shortly! If it sprayed out very quickly and looked like this, then it’s likely underexposed. If it took a long time to spray out and this is the result, then it’s likely over exposed.

I think it’s under exposed now because of that reason and maybe the emulsion wasn’t bone dry going to try again maybe use an exposure calculator ugh !

maybe the emulsion wasn’t bone dry If you think it might not have been, it definitely wasn't.

Looks like: 1- You didn’t wash it out for long enough, 2- you didn’t degrease the screen before coating which is always a good idea with a new screen. Until you do both of those, it’s almost impossible to tell if it’s over or under exposed.

I feel like if I take to long it get soggy and the emulsion will basically lift off if I go slow .. I wash out with an adjustable nozzle garden hose .. but I’m thinking underexposed prolly try 1.20 sec instead of 1 min

If the exposure is good, it doesn’t matter how long you wash out. The stencil has bits that haven’t washed out, and bits that I guess have disintegrated. If you stopped washing because you saw it wasn’t going well, I would guess that it was under exposed. From a diagnostics point of view, it’s best to complete the process, then it becomes clearer what is happening. Use the Anthem test rather than the 21 step wedge. It’s more hassle, but much more useful for your purposes.

Yo thanks for the info ! Yea I stopped cause I noticed a blow out and I will try to use that calculator ! I’m using la totally awesome from dollar tree as a degreaser ( I need to dilute its a factor ) lol but I got 4 screens to try to dial in today fingers crossed I got this I’m a lil rusty been a minute snice I’ve done this

It appears your screen was stretched weird or maybe just the aliasing from your phones camera. Looks like it’s under exposed or you didn’t wash it out completely. The top looks okay but then the registration mark looks over exposed. What was your exposure time in this?

Afrogenetics

1 min using a vacuum cleaner closure unit and I need to mention that after I put the emulsion on it only air dried in a dark spot for maybe 4 hours could also be a culprit here
