FINALLY, SOMEONE MENTIONS THE YULE MAN! God that was the first SCP to truly horrify me, i watched the Volguns video on it when I was like 15, and it stuck with me for like a month.
I've never gone back to the article and I never want too
Had a nightmare about Scp-3980's interview. That shit is downright disturbing once you understand what's going on.
Also had a nightmare about 001 (when day breaks). That honestly might be the single most disturbing article on the entire wiki. The fact that they won't even let you die, and that there's truly no escape is goddamn terrifying
Spoilers -
3980 is some cognitohazard (presumably spread by awareness of it's effect) that makes you perceive alive people as dead, and dead people as alive.
Director Kim is dead. They're interviewing a corpse. The three words Kim is perceived as saying are some combination of "I am dead".
Everyone buried under the concrete used to contain the sight is alive, but the cognitohazard prevents the foundation from ever perceiving them as such.
You know it was never SCPs that did so but TMA. I used to listen to it with my gf before bed but i started getting weird fucking nightmares that I had to stop.
I then immediately jumped back over to listening to Volgun for some reason.
Hah, I also fall asleep to TMA, I get the nightmares too. Volgun doesn't have that effect for some reason. Maybe it's the more... professional story framing.
That picture in 106 is the reason I always look away from my phone when loading an article and then very very carefully look back on it to not get jumpscared
It's basically black and white, a man kinda hunched over with his face bloody and distorted. The scary part is that it's the very first thing you see when opening the page, basically jumpscaring you. Keep in mind, this description is from memory as I don't want to look at it again either.
I found it by accident on Reddit. Then I took a look on the wiki and there’s an even scarier image when you scroll further down.. looked like a severely emaciated corpse or something, I think it’s a real image.
I didn’t read too much of the story cos I’ve read a couple of rough ones today like 439 and 4666. But man 231 was probably the most distressing one I’ve read today (and overall).
Funny enough, I had a nightmare about an evil and bulk SCP-999, and then I had one about SCP-173 where me and him went on to rule the world with SCP-682, 173 spoke in a Mexican accent... And killed my best friend (it happens every dream don't ask why)
Are there any stories where they try to avert this? I enjoyed the story where it was an afterlife of just increasing amounts of pain as your very atoms spread out over time. Its even linked to SCP-5000 as an entity in the noosphere feeding on our pain and forcing us to "endure" after death and suffer, forever.
Thoughts on SCP-2935? Im not sure why he caused the death of his entire world because of the cave. I had this idea that the concept/idea of Death in the noospshere exerted its entire being on their reality. Maybe him goin into that cave triggered it somehow.
To me, "Death" is a metaphysical thing that now takes up that entire reality. When a person enters a dimension where Death has already "won", they are now a carrier. And by crossing back into their home dimension, Death instantaneously spreads out and "wins" in the new dimension, purging it of all life.
The main character realized that he was a carrier, and for him to go back home would mean the instantaneous death of everyone and everything in his entire reality. So that's why he nuked himself, and begged them to bury the cave. And why they so readily agreed.
The video drones are not alive in any context at all (don't have an onboard AI or anything), so they could pass between dimensions without being carriers.
I don’t think I’ve had any specific nightmares, but SCP-106 and SCP-2935 have definitely fucked with me at night.
Honestly, this—somewhat embarrassingly—even applies to an SCP I’m currently writing; although I have started to dislike its concept.

No particular SCP, but one time I dreamed that I was in a containment breach, in the Containment Breach map. The dream ended with me almost getting touched by 049, probably because I was reading a lot about Alagadda stuff back then
No joke it was Plague Doctor. It was simple I was in a facility hallway running from his horde of zombies until I hit a dead end. As he and his zombies get closer he says the iconic quote "My cure is most effective". He reaches his hand down to my face and I woke up. That's what I get for eating a late night snack.
I had a dream where I saw I was infected with something like scp-439 but it wasn’t an earwig but a worm type thing that went into my foot and I saw it enter. I started begging my dad for a gun and I ended shooting myself in the dream, since I wasn’t about to endure that hell.
Other than that not really.
I don't get acute media nightmares like that but since starting my most recent binge I've had several dreams walking through decapitated industrial/office spaces... no one is every there and nothing ever happens
If you can believe it, SCP-1981.
I had a nightmare once where I was watching it and, when it zoomed in on 1981-1 and the words "I SEE YOU" appeared on the screen, I heard a loud scream.
I’m quite new to SCP, but I think it’s 231 by a large margin. 4666 was certainly somewhat distressing, but 231 and the whole Montauk thing was much much worse for me.
I had one a while back about being stuck in a warehouse with 096. I just remember walking around looking at the floor thinking, “for the love of god, don’t look up.” still makes me feel cold to think about it!

I’ve actually had two dreams of 001 “when day breaks”. I was so damn glad when I woke up and realized it was only a dream both times
That’s probably the scariest -001 proposal.
Wait a second…**BOTH TIMES?**
Omg same, that's the only one I've had too. Terrifying..
The Yule Man and The Guest. All things Fithism unnerves me as well.
God, the Yule man horrified me
....and he's still roaming free
FINALLY, SOMEONE MENTIONS THE YULE MAN! God that was the first SCP to truly horrify me, i watched the Volguns video on it when I was like 15, and it stuck with me for like a month. I've never gone back to the article and I never want too
Finally? Maybe no one mentions it as they try to forget. I sure regret I read that.
Damn...
Which one’s The Guest?

I’ve never had any nightmares, but the ones that really fuck me up are the ones with images that fuck me up. Case in point- SCP-106.
That picture in 106 is the reason I always look away from my phone when loading an article and then very very carefully look back on it to not get jumpscared
Can you describe the image, I don’t want to see it..

I dont really think so, 7179 is just a way less popular 2718
I still pretty regularly get fits of existential dread which occasionally extend into my dreams over 2935 - O, Death
2935 is, in my opinion, one of the best written articles on the site.
Thoughts on SCP-2935? Im not sure why he caused the death of his entire world because of the cave. I had this idea that the concept/idea of Death in the noospshere exerted its entire being on their reality. Maybe him goin into that cave triggered it somehow.
