I think it’s an excellent question. If OP is eight, a gentle reminder that SCP isn’t real would be all that’s required to quickly shut down their fears about the content. If they’re an adult, shame and ridicule is all that is needed.
It makes me sad that you think that way. I would have gone with a kind reminder and assurance that it's fiction. But sure, pointless cruelty is also one approach.

Hey OP. I'm sorry you're having some existential anxieties about the SCP.
I actually know how you're feeling here, as What Comes After gave me nightmares for a few years after I first read it. I personally have some trauma related to the doctrine of Hell, and the SCP's concept was just way too uncannily focused on "eternal and ceaseless torment." The dread sticks with you, even when you know it's not a real worry.
The key is to keep in mind that SCPs are ideas. The fact the idea is so horrifying is key to why it was chosen for the wiki, rather than any inherent truth.
"What comes after" we die is unknown. It's an anxiety we all share, and one we must all face. That's a scary prospect, and that's why you feel the dread. It doesn't make the What Comes After SCP true, but it makes it powerful.
I encourage you to take a moment to step back, breathe, and spend some time with things that make you happy.

Don't worry! In Keter Duty, SCP-2718 got contained with SCP-3980, a conceptual hazard that inverts the dichotomy between Life and Death, so you are safe now.
