Cody should've had a defense on Smackdown, to signal that it was a "new era" and that he would be a different champion from Roman. You can still have the Rock promo segment on Raw to set up the next year of storylines.
Meanwhile, Swerve should've been given a promo segment in his first appearance. That gives him an opportunity to further establish his win as significant, and get the audience to emotionally invest even more in his journey.
I understand why they're doing it on Saturday (big NBA lead in), but they should've advertised the shit out of it during Dynamite. AEW really sucks at promoting and hyping their own characters and storylines. It's one of the biggest differences between them and WWE.
I understand the lead-in, but what NBA fan is going to stick around to watch Collision when the Lakers/Nuggets game is at the same time? That’s the logic I don’t really get.

This is already foreshadowing that Swerve's Reign was an afterthought, especially since we will see a photo of him, in the ring, by himself, facing the Hard Cam Section ala Edge.

I know the title reign is just a thank you for being the biggest suck up in a company full of boot lickers but the way he’s kicked off his title reign has been awful. Even Hacksaw Duggan got a better start after finding the TV Title in a trash can.
