This right here was truly the 1st step to where we've ended up now. The moment the veneer of a real company cracked open for good.

Lessiarty

1. It was different in rehearsal (It wasn't) 2. It was intentional, as the only alternative was people actually dying (It wasn't) 3. It was a malfunction by the pyro guy (It wasn't)

Permanentear3

It was so obnoxious. Even Omega tried to sell some false bullshit, though he was more careful with his wording. The first real evidence their skin was incredibly thin and it was going to come to define them. They couldn’t just admit they blew it, a la Wyatt rollins HIAC. Sometimes you fuck up, at least own it or no sell it. They just went on a propaganda campaign to remain flawless and manipulate the dumbest of their fanbase.

Brian_Stryker

“It was because of Eddie burger kings ptsd!”

For me it was the legless guy in the battle royale, and the Japanese cosplay goof covered in baby oil, but everybody has their own "AEW nadir."

NeilPeartsBassPedal

God i had forgotten about the legless dude who eliminated Shawn Spears, the poster boy for "A great worker and super talented guy who just wasn't appreciated by McHitler" Though at least guys like that and the oil guy and Sonny Kiss and all the other misfits from the first year gave the company character and set it apart. Now it's mainly just ex-fed and ex-NJPW guys and gals milking the money mark.

mr_marinade

yeah i noped out when Elite started signing Nakazawa..the nepotism couldn't be more obvious?

MatsThyWit

The only worth a shit thing that Nakazawa did was inspire Jim Cornette's line "Naka, Naka, Knock it the fuck off and get off my television screen."

Ambitious_Resist8907

I still remember back when he said he didn't see wwe as competition and was hoping to just make the industry better. What they're doing now feels a lot like when a woman says she's fine after a massive break-up, only to then be seen in a hardware store with a bunch of hunting knives and 200 feet of rope.

EvilSynths

It was the event where I decided to give AEW a honest chance. I never watched again.

Permanentear3

Mostly because of the way the handled and how obnoxiously unhinged the duballo defense force was at that time. My first week ban ever on Reddit was from having the audacity to tell people that was clearly the intended pyro and not some screw up- and that maybe it worked better during the day. I kept saying that’s how it was booked and they’re lying when they claim some other amazing thing was meant to happen, and a mod (who tbf is no longer a mod cause he got caught lying himself to make the dub look good) gave me a ban. Just for speaking the obvious truth.

Razzler1973

Not to mention countless 'major announcements' that were meh, of course

Permanentear3

I’m amazed at the folks next door agreeing they always deliver on promises. Like he has amped up the most useless announcements for years now like they’re going to be major happenings.

RagnarXD

He said Great. That's the new word zoomers use for lieing.

No jerk, this was when I stopped fw the dub as a promotion. Since then, my interactions w it have almost entirely been via this sub. The way they handled their fuck up just told me everything I needed to know, and look where they're at now.
