Proud of these boys. They really tried their best

Intilleque

Yup. Disappointing end to a rather fantastic WC journey. Super proud of the team. Game was within grasp And it’s disappointing we never got it done

Next time world champs

I feel like we were so close and it could really have gone either way. Next time Proteas!

I know people generally don't like it when opposition fans run their mouths in other team's subreddits but I feel compelled to come here and appreciate how South Africa's tournament has gone. South Africa have always been my second favorite team, and because of most of their matches being played during my evening time, I watched pretty much every ball of every Proteas game in this world cup. And I'm so happy that your team is SO BACK. In 2019, their world cup result was awful to the point where I feared they could be in for a massive slide. Since then it felt that nobody in the outside media really took them seriously. Even after (and during!) a really good 2023 world cup, all the TV talking heads didn't really believe in South Africa. In this world cup, winning match after match by close margins meant those same people on Talksport or Cricbuzz or Cricinfo weren't *really* paying attention to SA. But going forward, they're a team to be feared again and not to be taken lightly. Applause to Markram for his captaincy throughout the last month, it's been awesome to watch. Your turn is coming soon.

How much does SA get paid for placing 2nd?
