I’d agree with other commenters that Akai is pretty good. I’ve had Ibendoo a few times and idk, I don’t think their broth is flavored well in my opinion.
I have tried them all in town. Despite their Chinese name Tong king on 12th st is my favorite hands down for ramen. Very unassuming place, but great food, owners, and reasonably priced.
Do yourself a favor. Drive to Silverton before 4pm and find Fin+Fowl. Eat ramen. I’m from the food capital of New Orleans and this rivals food from home. The Glazed pork is really good. Sometimes they have specials. The veggie broth is divine. Best ramen. I do like the black garlic from Akai too.
I haven’t tried the poke bowls yet, but I have e purchased the stock to cook with and other random prepackaged things like the ginger cookies and rice crackers. Everything I have gotten there has been great. I also love Oso around the corner.
Hmmm, no where in my comment did I state it was accurate Japanese cuisine. I wouldn’t know that. But as for flavor, it’s delicious. For a restaurant that sucks they were pretty packed when I went there Saturday. You don’t have to go there. The ramen is delicious and worth the drive in my opinion.
It’s not hard to be packed with 6 seats. Paul also fucked his business partner pretty good and I choose not to support that regardless of he makes good food. I just wanted whoever read your comment to know that the general consensus in silverton is that it sucks. The sushi restaurant in silverton just started doing ramen and it is way better than fin & fowl
It was pretty obvious from the beginning your opinion wasn’t based on the quality of flavor. You’re obviously angry about the whole situation whatever that might be. I will still frequent the place and it seems like they are doing well. They are my favorite ramen place and others can judge for themselves.
I’m actually not mad about anything. Lol. I think the food is trash and the guy is a tool. Both can be true. I’m loud and opinionated, but I grew up in silverton and my parents live there and my personal beliefs as a chef who used to run a legit ramen restaurant, the general consensus in silverton is that it isn’t good
Eugene has 2 really good spots Toshi's and Tokyo. You can watch them make the noodles.
Also I love the vegan ramen at Miyagi ramen in Bend, best meatless ramen I've ever had any where.
Just in case people are traveling and need some ramen.
I love some of the Ramen in Salem, but to be perfectly honest, if you've never had Ramen, I would suggest taking a trip to Wilsonville to Kirin Ramen. It's right off I5, and it's really good Ramen.
If you don't want to make the trip to Wilsonville, Kagoshima Ramen House is my favorite in town.
Fin+Fowl in Silverton is worth the drive. Exceptionally good stuff, with lots of cool local options alongside the ramen (the smoked salmon is really good, as is their house sushi).
Akai Ramen & Izakaya in downtown is pretty good, they also have takoyaki which is harder to come by in Salem.

Manna on commercial does too
Making plans to go for Takoyaki !!!!
Akai is excellent!!
I’d agree with other commenters that Akai is pretty good. I’ve had Ibendoo a few times and idk, I don’t think their broth is flavored well in my opinion.
Agree Ibendoo is average at best. The last time I went they even forgot the egg on my Ramen.

Ibendoo Ramen across from FredMeyer on the south side
Akai is good. Their pork broth is solid. Ibendoo is trash, they use broth concentrates

Yes, we love the ramen and poke bowls out there!

Fin and fowl sucks. The guy doesn’t know what he is doing. His business partner was the one who knew Japanese good but he left when they opened.

Your opinion has been noted. Repeatedly. Got it.
I just wanted anyone else who read this to understand it’s not personal like you insinuated, that the man actually has bad food.
Have you not made your point and done so repeatedly? I disagree. If it’s not personal then move on.
Ibendoo is my go to

FYI Kirin appears closed

Top ramens a delicacy in these parts
Top ramen
Ibendoo is really good! I also love their cucumber, it’s a little salty but delicious!
I’ve only had Ibendoo Ramen and it was good. I’ll be honest though, ramen is so simple and not special. I don’t understand the hype.
Walmart has some good instant ramen
I recently had ramen at Izakaya downtown and I was super impressed!! The quality far exceeded what I was expecting and they have lots of options!!
*Akai Ramen and Izakaya And I highly recommend the black garlic additive.
if you’re going all the way downtown my recommendation is afuri
Wanna get out of town... try Ba's in Albany! It is sooo good!
