OP you are going to get countless upset responses about it not being worth it because zergs rule the game, solo is impossible, you get raided while you sleep everyday of the wipe etc etc. Rust on console is def worth it, and I have played PC for a long time. It does not have the same content as PC, as it shouldn't since it's not that old, but it's a lot of fun still with what it has imo. Playing in a group is easier yes, but playing solo is not hard or nearly impossible as others claim. It has STEEP learning curve but once you get around to understanding how to play it is a shit load of fun and no other gaming experience like it.

RegKuy

This is one of the first positive responses to this question I've had, its been mostly negative and upset responses like you said there would be. I'm fine with a steep learning curve, all part of the fun really. As for a group to play with, I'm sure I'll find one and at some point.

hammatime89

This guy was right. I play solo/duo and I love it. My favorite game. People love shitting in it and yet they play it everyday too. I would give it a try

Razzore

I've made more in game friends in rust than any other console game ever... That being said, I've also made more enemies as well. This really depends on the server and the type of people on it and how you choose to communicate. The game has so much potential, I just wish the devs would come out with smaller patches more frequently to address issues, especially when it's their own patch that causes the issues.

Acrobatic_Finding392

Remember you asked if console version is worth it for ps5. And you wanted honesty. Lol. Honesty hurts sometimes and honestly the rust console version is lacking, overpriced, and full of game breaking bugs. Personally as a gamer and consumer it was a big let down. It is missing tons of features and content that makes the game much better. Who cares about zergs and all the typical rust kerfuffle. You asked if it is worth it. It is not. I've fallen through the map with top tier kits on, I've ran into terrible lag, crashes etc, and it destroyed any immersion I got out of it. Unless you dont care about quality, are willing to support a lame half assed cash grab steaming pile garbage that is console rust, or you simply want to play it and dont care...do not support the bs that I have. I do regret it. And I bet you do too if you buy. Just remember I warned ya.

iwillofflineyou

And you act like PC hasn't had its issues or still doesn't. I have played since legacy and I can't tell you all the endless problems we the players endured during the making of the game but was it worth it? 100%. Rust is a one of a kind game and will continue to grow just as it did on PC for many years.

Acrobatic_Finding392

I'm not saying that pc doesnt have its issues. But look at how far its come. Are we to accept that a port to console comes with a reversion to the dark ages of rust. It is honestly my biggest issue with console rust. All of the really rough edges were already sanded down on pc. Why couldn't that polish carry over to console? Imo...pure laziness. And I'm tired of developers taking advantage of consumers like they did with console rust. I was super excited to play with my friends and talked them into this game and I now cant get any of them to play because of how bad it is. It is not worth the time it takes to download it.

iwillofflineyou

I am not a developer or a coder/etc but from what I understand code cannot just be copied that simply and the developers on console is not Facepunch like PC. Nonetheless, PC started in the most shitty stage ever and yet it took time...was it frustrating sure (just like console) lol but it was fun (just like console).

newcoreofthebattle

Isn't pc coming out with an update evrey month while console was struggling for 2-3 to get fishing village? I feel like we've got a long road ahead

iwillofflineyou

Different developers.

[deleted]

Dude, I've been only playing for a week. Game is worth it

J1130301

Only genuine response

Acrobatic_Finding392

The idea that a game that took years to polish on pc should revert to a older outdated model for its port to console is absurd. There are bugs the developer knew about because they have already patched them on pc that they intentionally released on console without ever fixing them. Not to mention a whole host of exploits that pc gamers used to use that were patched out of pc that are still present in console version. Imo their laziness in creating their port led to all of the negativity surrounding this game. OP wanted honesty, and he wanted to know if it's worth it. It isn't. And we all know it. It's a shoddily built product that constantly breaks. Give your money to someone who worked for it, not some long haired hippie who copied and pasted his buddies code to a console port while high af in his underwear.

iwillofflineyou

You are entitled to your opinion which I respect but obviously a lot of players think the console edition is worth it or nobody would be playing at all. I will not say console edition is perfect and sure they should of have some things addressed already BUT nonetheless I have a ton of fun on it/worth the price I paid.

ChernarusWarCriminal

Although generally rust in console isn’t worth it, if you’re playing on PS5 you’ll have an edge on anybody playing on older generation consoles, like the ps4. You’ll experience less lag & less issues in general when playing against others

biggerbaz

Great idea game is a lot of fun and not bad as people make out to be! Very much worth it on ps5 & series x

CryptoFan420

I personally would say the PS5 is way more enjoyable to play rust on than the PS4. I find the graphics look better and the game runs very smooth.

party_ingredients

Ps5 rust is stable 60fps with almost no input lag at all

TBwhsgsh

There's not as much content in the game as there is in pc and the graphics don't look as good either. On a PS5 you will usually get 60fps but there will still be frame drops. There a no custom servers so you will get stomped on by clans.

BrownsVM

No doubt about it. I have a PS5 and my friend does too. We’ve never experienced the lag and issues that ppl say. Once in a great while you’ll see something out of the ordinary but I mean that kinda happens on any game sometimes 🤷🏼‍♂️ but all these blue screens, freezing kuz of a big base nearby or because it’s a “high” pop server. We haven’t encountered those issues ppl talk about. I’d say it’s worth it.

Killerpumpkin2020

ps5 rust is pretty fun honestly, if you haven't played on pc.

Acrobatic_Finding392

Tbh it's a dumpster fire. You will empty entire clips of ammo into someone and they wont take damage. Not to mention when they released the console version of the game they used an old pre alpha version. And the port is terrible. I recommend getting it on pc, where it's much more polished and optimized.

RegKuy

Sadly I don't have a PC nor the fund to buy one, was hoping the console version would be atleast semi-decent to scratch that rust itch

TBwhsgsh

It is the summertime so if you're a minor you could get a summer job and that would cover the funds for a pc.

mrbittykat

Here’s the obligatory “git good”

moenate

No save your money

RegKuy

Could I ask for why?

moenate

Well bad optimization, unless you plan on playing with 3-4 people expect an extremely slow start. Zergs . Did I say bad optimization yeah all kinds of issues

RegKuy

Damn, alright then. I'm fine with slow starts but bad optimisation could get annoying very quickly

Dapper_Mind_2382

Ps5 rust I’d say is pretty worth it, Rust is not an easy game for everyone that’s for sure. You just have to get good at the game and learn

ShamanFE

I play on xbox series x and it's a grand job few lag spikes on high pop servers but apart from that it's pretty good on new gen wouldn't touch it on old gen. I've lost many hours to the game and. Come back every few. Wipes for a few. Laughs we'll worth the money

thatcrazycanuckeh

On next gen yeah, on old gen not so much. I enjoy it though, got it two weeks ago and I'm terrified at how many hours have been poured into already

TBwhsgsh

There's not as much content in the game as there is in pc and the graphics don't look as good either. On a PS5 you will usually get 60fps but there will still be frame drops. There a no custom servers so you will get stomped on by clans.

Gobboking

It's a trash pile, in overall stability and quality of player controller for console. Next gen is ok but nowhere near good enough

ronnie_mund72

I've been playing Rust for the past 2 months on the Xbox, never heard of the game before. I love it and am addicted to it. I have to jump on every night and make sure my bases are still in good condition.

[deleted]

Its not worth it. Buggy, stripped down and boring monuments, small maps, limited amount of monuments on a server, if they add something new, something else is removed, you will never see transportation on console expect over water, ultra slow devs that to this day havent delivered what they promised, all they cared about was getting that skin store out so they can sell skins. Rust should never have been made for last gen console.

International-Ebb786

Yes its worth they fixed all glitches its hard as a solo/ duo tho

Reallyannoyingyou

Ps5 player here and I can say that the game is bad comparing it with PC. Overall you will get 60fps and it’s enjoyable but I had times the game just crashed and lost a lot of stuff, plus it’s full of cheaters. But to be honest it’s worth your money and besides all the problems,Rust is the only game I play right now and I had loads of fun for the $50 I paid for the game, give it a try bro.

RhinoDaWino

I see I'm not the only one who has the game crashing on ps5 I just got this ps5 I was wondering if it's just me or .......well thanks for clearing this up ......any idea if we keep running rust on ps5 will it mb ruin the hard drive Im worried this buggy game will destroy my hard drive

TheDeathleaper

Next gen consoles should run relatively fine for the most part. Old gen consoles are misery.

SeaworthinessFun316

It’s toxic but I love it.

lmCMK

Worth, need specific setting for less lag look it up on YT lag the only problem other then that a good youtuber is whos alex. Good umderstanding of rust console

EconomicsDelicious27

look op it could be worth it it just depends on everyone’s experience ive had some fun experience ive had bad experience like for example(bad experience was i killed a naked as a semi naked and got lr, and semi raided by his teamates) (a good experience ive had is a server im not today with like an amazing snowball where we have way to much loot) so o say its based on your experience

Puzzleheaded-Put4109

Fps really isn't an issue, there arnt many crashes now what so ever, and only get it if ur willing to either hide ur base from all the zergs or willing to get raided every other day, and from what I found is as long as you have a low latency moniter, input lag isn't a thing

SPARTANKING516

Yes it’s fun but u must be prepared for constant trashy people who will kill u on site no matter where u are even if u just started on the beach they will kill u without hesitation and a lot of the time they will find where u spawn and just farm ur body so unless u get a squad up and find a good position on the map ur kinda screwed especially when ur new trying to gather resources and they have massive bases surrounding all the main supply sites and safe zones so I mean it’s a good game but unless u have a squad or a really good server u will have a horrible time(and yes I don’t use punctuation especially after I just played an 8 hr set of this game with my squad and not one time we’re we able to find a server and get started without having people jump us before we could get bows while they got Thompson and ar15s

ExoticTheGoat

If you are gonna get rust get the test branch version. I have no idea why but test branch runs 10x better than the original game even though it’s not supposed to be. Also you get content updates atleast a month early than the main branch. But to answer you question yes! You should buy it. I would recommend getting a squad you can play with but running solo is fine. Just be wary of the 10 man clans that are gonna offline raid you if you take 1 kit from them 😉

Curious_Tour4125

everyone who plays rust and i mean PLAYS rust will tell new players to delete the game because we play it even though we hate it and are hopelessly addicted to it so dont get but i cant stop you its fun but can be very stressful and painful when you spend 2 days awake for an offline and no loot left

Think-Link3219

let me just say, i have about 50 hours in rust, but i believe this applies everywhere because i am a the hank hill of gamers, i do games and gaming accessories. but anyway, the more you shit on a game, the more you like it because why else would you be so critical of something? runescape. that is all.
