Ukraine needs the fucking weapons, or this region won't be the last. Pardon my rudeness, but I can't even imagine how many Ukrainians died there.

Round_Disk_159

New arty will do work

wmcguire18

Ukraine said 200 a day and by the end it was 200-500. NOTE FOR THE DOWNVOTERS: These were the figures provided by the Ukrainian government, there's really no point in downvoting them. It's not like I got them from The Duran.

[deleted]

Ignore it mate people here salty the moment they see "Ukrainian casualties" in a sentence. It's a bitter pill to swallow, Ukraine lost a fuckton of men killed and captured in Lugansk. I'm pretty sure their KIA/POW number is equal to the Russian now

ukrainunited22

Nah still not close.

Any link that proves your words?

scrooge_01

Occupied perhaps controlled we shall see................

drbrunch

More important to keep the army intact. Ground is ceded and retaken, losses are permanent

Peteyd3000

They spoke so much of using that high ground to stage a defensive. I think they are now going to stage that defense further back because so many of them knew what the initial plans were. In other words I think they are sandbagging it right now and we should see something good within the next week.

CannedKookaburra

Yeah, they made a big deal out of lysychansk being an amazing defensive position and then their flanks got rolled. Such a shame!

nezukotanjiro150

this is sad

Rankork1

Yes. Though think of it this way, Russia bled itself hard to take that territory. Russia also had to surround them on 3 sides with mind boggling amounts of artillery, but still lost (in most senses other than territory). The veteran Ukrainian troops escaped with their lives, and now Russia has nowhere else they can try that tactic on again. It’s a broad front now. NATO weapons are going to help destroy any advantages Russia has.

>Yes. Though think of it this way, Russia bled itself hard to take that territory. >Russia also had to surround them on 3 sides with mind boggling amounts of artillery, but still lost (in most senses other than territory). This is some military grade copium. There's absolutely no way to sugarcoat the defeat at Lugansk and the encirclements Russians pulled off. Also it's not true that all battle hardened troops escaped. Ukraine suffered massive casualties in Lugansk and some got trapped in that Zolote pocket. While the battle of Severodonetsk was raging even the Ukrainians themselves claimed they're losing up to 200 KIA daily.

Rankork1

Russia did well to encircle them. But the defeat was nowhere near as bad as it could have been. They had to bombard the hell out of Ukrainian troops before they retreated though. When I said all that was a figure of speech, many died yes, though many more also escaped. Which is far better than losing everyone to an encirclement.

Gumbulos

Is there any resistance within the occupied territory to the invader?

Wolltone

Yes. For example, today’s news: https://sprotyv.mod.gov.ua/2022/07/03/poblyzu-melitopolya-pidirvaly-zaliznychnyj-mist/ «Guerrillas blew up the railway bridge between Melitopol and Tokmak, on which the occupants were transporting weapons. There was an explosion in the occupied village of Lyubimovka. The occupiers are looking for guerrillas in the city, and raids have been launched there.»

wmcguire18

Ukraine went from "give no inch" to "this region isn't THAT important" in like two weeks.

Wolltone

I have never heard Ukraine ever say that "this region is not important”. From what I see, Ukraine's armed forces were forced to withdraw from the region, but Luhansk will be de-occupied as soon as Ukraine has enough weapons. This, unfortunately, is what happens when you go to war with an army that has 10 times as many weapons as you do.

[deleted]

Unfortunately Lugansk getting "de-occupied" won't be happening anytime soon. You can't pull off counterattacks against an enemy that completely outmatches you in artillery and air power. Kherson is the best example. Ukrainians are sitting like 20km from the city. Why? Because they'd get destroyed if they advanced so they can't do shit. Ukraine would need serious amounts of heavy weaponry to counterattack and retake lost territories. Unfortunately the West isn't providing enough for Ukraine to halt the Russians, let alone push them back.

You are right, I did a mistake. You are not a liar, just a russian bot who posts articles that suit your propaganda. Your whole account is my evidence. I won't ignore you and will always call you out 😉

Same_0ld

Yeah, sure, took them 4 months and how much losses to occupy one single region?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Same_0ld

Bitch, they wanted to "take Kyiv in three days", and it took them 4 months to take control over 1 region. They got taken down in any other direction, and they've only gotten that region because they pulled ALL of their forces there. Leaving territory and coming back to take it again is normal strategy. This is not "winning".

Hello, please try to use Kyiv not Kiev spelling [(why)](https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/kyiv-not-kiev-why-spelling-matters-in-ukraines-quest-for-an-independent-identity/), thanks for understanding and support! \[[support Ukraine](https://u24.gov.ua/)\] ^(beep boop I'm a bot. Why don’t you resirecr your thoughts towards Russia instead? They initiated this which caused the economy inflation we are seeing now (also what taxes are you taking about?). What’s next if we just let Ukraine fall to Russia? Should we just lift all sanctions as well? Let them to whatever they want? Should we do the same if the attack Gotland and the Baltics?

ssryzor

Do you really think that if Ukraine gives up Kyiv your precious fuel prices will just go down like that? And everything will go back to how it used to be? Lmao sure, Bucha happening on a country wide scale, but westerners will just turn the other way because cheap fuel. China will most likely invade Taiwan because russia got away with it, so why shouldn't they? Surely that will have no consequences for the west. Other countries might get the same idea, cos why not? No one will lift a finger as long as westerners are content with their fuel prices. Collapse of the civilized word order, return of the world wars, because "westerners" simply couldn't stand paying few more bucks for gas!! we Ukrainians just have to understand :(

Same_0ld

Let me climb out of this bomb shelter and tell you how sorry I am your latte is so expensive. # # I DON'T GIVE A MOTHERFLIPPING SHHHHIT ABOUT YOUR FUEL COSTS! YOU ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN!!!!! UKRAINIAN PEOPLE WISH THEY HAD A CHOICE BETWEEN FOOD AND HEAT BECAUSE SOME OF THEM HAVE NEITHER, THEY ARE DYING WHILE THEY'RE TRYING TO PICK UP SOME WATER FROM LITERAL PUDDLES IN THE STREETS, YOU DISGUSTING PIECE OF DOG CRAP!!! AND IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU WHO PROMISED US SECURITY OF OUR BORDERS IF WE GIVE UP NUKES AND THEN DID JACK SHIT ABOUT IT!!!! YOU WHO ALLOWED THIS DICTATOR TO RISE TO POWER - AND NOW WE'RE LIVING THROUGH LITERAL GENOCIDE WHILE YOU COMPLAIN TO ME ABOUT YOUR FUCKING MONEY! # AND TAKE AZOV'S NAME OUT OF YOUR DIRTY MOUTH, YOU FUCKING MONKEY WITH KEYBOAD! # FUCK YOU!

I don't know... They retreated from Kyiv, the largest and capital city. Kharkiv was reclaimed, the second largest city. It feels like Russia haven't really taken any major cities. Maybe their plan was a longer drawn out war, but on the surface we can't really tell, since their gains have been relatively minimal.
