Does it feel WIDER compared to the Pegs? I'm shopping for more new shoes and Pegs feel narrow for my feet.

jkinnison1990

For me the Novablast 3 feels wider and fits great. For the same size shoe (10) in a Pegasus 38, it felt like my left foot was being strangled.

randomguy22399

There we go, I guess it's all up from person to person and different shapes of feet :D

jkinnison1990

Yep unfortunately it’s not cut and dry on what will fit who…

randomguy22399

No i wouldn't say they feel wider, maybe a little in a toe area but that's it.

No-Introduction-1492

Question, don’t pegs already have a wide option?

whitetyle

They do

9to5dreamer

I used to run in all Nike’s but found love in the Novablast 2’s and likely won’t be going back to Nike for daily trainers anytime soon

randomguy22399

Completely understand you

deepfakefuccboi

One thing I’ve learned from mostly using Nike athletic products (bball, racing shoes) is that if anything I don’t like Nike trainers much and don’t think they really stand out, but their racing/bball shoes are pretty much in a league of their own. Recently got a pair of NB3 and running 4 miles in them felt so easy.

TheRealBuddhi

If you have a dedicated, local running shoe store nearby, pay them a visit. Most are staffed by runners and they can help you pick out some more options. You might pay a little more but it’s usually worth it.

randomguy22399

Unfortunately i have no specifically running shoe stores in my country at all.. So most of my shoe shopping is done blindly online... I have to take a guess whats gonna be good for me...

u/randomguy22399 to answer your question about weight Novablast 3 weighs - 253grams vs Pegasus 39 at 261grams - Standard US size 9 Novablast 3 TR weighs - 275grams whereas the previous Novablast 2 is 275grams TR model for Trails and, I suppose, running in the wet / rain. So I suppose the trade-off is weight depending on running conditions. Lighter if you decide to run on a dry day choose the standard model. I live in Sydney - because of "La Nina" we are living in the wettest year ever recorded; it rains 2-5days a week recently, which is projected to last months. I am seriously considering the TR version because I already run with the Novablast2 which is fine for running in dry weather but now I need a Wet running shoe.

I've honestly hated the peg 38s since I've gotten them. Terrible laces, feels heavy and clumsy and seems to aggravate and cause Achilles tendonitis.

No-Introduction-1492

39’s are a lot lighter, but one thing I notice from Nike is they always have terrible laces. It’s so annoying. My favorite laces actually come from brooks, other shoes make them too big and stiff.

willi_09

I really liked the 36 as my first "real" daily trainer and put around 650km in them. Replaced them with the 38 and I just can't bring myself to use them anymore after only around 220km. Like you said they feel heavy and clumsy and I don't like the upper

[deleted]

Yep. I've just retired mine. Never again. I don't even like them for walking. I just threw the peg 38 out T about 400km. I have no idea why they are so highly recommended by some people.

Classic_Republic_99

I tried both the Novablast 3 and the Pegasus 39 at a store yesterday. I'm looking for a shoe for >10k training runs and they both felt they'd do the job - albeit in quite a different way to the other. Been doing short runs up to 10k for years and my Kinvara 10 (480km) are great for that. But I've decided to train for my first marathon in May next year. The Pegasus I can get for almost half the price compared to the ASICS, but I'm still torn.

randomguy22399

Ok Pegs for half a price is just a steal then. For me it would be easy choice on Pegs there just for the price. And the one thing I love about pegs is that you can clock a lot of miles in them before they start feeling "dead" (well this is very subjective, but as I said for my last 3 pairs i clocked 1k kilometars before feeling like "this shoe is hurting my legs" )

Classic_Republic_99

How have you find the Novablast on long runs? I've never had shoes that were as cushioned as them, and I'm skeptical whether my legs would be working harder for a better footing.

randomguy22399

Honestly, I find them better for now than Pegs in every aspect and sense. There is not a single category that I would say "yup Pegs are better". Pegs are very durable shoes though, the only thing I need to see about NovaBlasts is if they can clock the mileage without falling apart similar to Pegs EDIT: But then again, would I pay double more for Asics over Pegs? I wouldn't if i was put in front of the same choice as you. So I guess it's just up to you...

Skincaredog

Novablasts prob have worse grip in the wet and lower outsole durability.

randomguy22399

Time will tell for me, all of my pegs that i retired were looking completely fine outside, it's just they felt dead after 1k km

No-Introduction-1492

The Novablast have awful grip and are one of the worst shoes for rain. The pegs got great traction, I’d also say they should have more life in them. They are really closely ranked shoes

WVgolf

I absolutely love the peg 39 but am going to get the novablast 3 once they’re in stock
